If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/25/12

I am in disbelief that October is almost over. Where did the month go? Despite the fact that the time seems to be slipping away, I am welcoming the cooler temperatures and, even more so, all the new television! Let’s take a look at what we’re recommending (aka ordering 😉 ), you to watch tonight.

Megan’s Choice

The Big Bang Theory is one of those comedies that never fails to deliver me side-splitting laughs—I admit to tears often streaming down my face. Last week’s episode was particularly funny, especially when Howard found his dentist sneaking out of his mom’s house. Another great moment was the discussion between Raj, Stuart, and Howard—awkward for Raj to introduce his new roommate to Howard. The jealousy tension was really well-played. I’m looking forward to seeing more moments with Howard and Bernadette, as well as hoping they play more on the Raj/Stuart friendship.

On tonight’s episode, “The Holographic Excitation,” the gang heads to Stuart’s comic book store to celebrate Halloween; Leonard uses science to seduce Penny.

To see if science can be the new panty remover, tune into CBS at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of The Big Bang Theory @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Grey’s Anatomy, Elementary, Last Resort, Person of Interest, Scandal, The Vampire Diaries, Beauty and the Beast, and Sweet Genius.

You know, I was really hoping a few weeks ago that I would love Beauty and the Beast on The CW, and I’m so glad I do—which probably means it’s doomed, but that’s neither here nor there… LOL I wasn’t one of the Lana haters on Smallville, so it didn’t surprise me that I like Kristin Kreuk in this one. Jay Ryan, who plays the slightly scared and sometimes slightly scary Vincent, is quite hot. And I adore the chemistry. Seriously, it’s smoking between the two of them. I also like Cat’s partner, Tess, and Vincent’s friend, JT. JT especially gives some great comic relief. I’m anxious to see how the relationship between Cat & Vincent grows as they learn to trust one another more and work together.

On tonight’s episode, “All In,” Iris, a Bosnian immigrant, is arrested on the suspicion of killing a judge for deporting her brother. Vincent insists that Iris is innocent, so trusting his instincts, Cat works behind-the-scenes to uncover the truth. When Cat’s actions disrupt the investigation, Joe places her on leave. Nevertheless, she continues on her own to discover that Iris is hiding a family secret and needs Vincent’s help. JT is concerned that Vincent risks exposure to Murifield by helping Cat, leading Cat to work out a way to communicate with Vincent without seeking him out.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men, Elementary, Person of Interest, & Up All Night.

Kyle’s Choice

Despite the poor ratings, I have really been enjoying Last Resort! Last week, Captain Chaplin and XO Kendal were charged with treason. A hit was put out on Captain Chaplin, and a copy of this order was sent to the crew of the Colorado. Knowing that he couldn’t force everyone to stay, Chaplin put up a board and allowed the crew to choose to Stay or Go. However, a lot of them were signing their names next to the “Go” choice. Brannan, feeling guilt over ordering Red’s execution, attempted to take control of the the sub with a grenade, but the captain managed to talk him down. Meanwhile, back at home, Kendal’s wife Christine was getting harassed, and she finally lost it when someone spray-painted “Traitor” on her garage door.

I hope more Nielsen families start tuning in to Last Resort, or it may not be around much longer. I really wish it didn’t have this doomed timeslot. The show has a great cast, an interesting dramatic premise, and it’s being shot on the beautiful Lost sets—I don’t know why more people aren’t tuning in. Maybe all of those Neilsen boxes are required to tune into Two and a Half Men at 8:30! Anyway, I hope we get to see this great conspiracy slow-burn play out and not be snuffed out prematurely.

In tonight’s episode, “Skeleton Crew,” Chaplin and Kendal negotiate with the U.S. government. Meanwhile, Shepard takes command of the Colorado after a critical system fails.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/recording The Big Bang Theory, Elementary, Grey’s Anatomy, 30 Rock, Up All Night, The Office, Parks and Recreation, The League, Sweet Genius, Childrens Hospital, and NTSF:SD:SUV::.

JJ’s Choice

I really don’t know how, but The Vampire Diaries knows how to shock us every single episode. With the council gone, a new vampire hunter in Mystic Falls, and Elena as a vampire, this season is already shaping up to be another good one. And it is very nice to see Caroline being able to help Elena with the transition because she went through it herself not too long ago.

On tonight’s episode, “The Rager,” Connor tries to enlist Jeremy to help uncover the secrets of Mystic Falls, Elena decides to finish high school, but is confronted with Rebekah, and Tyler gets a surprise visit from a werewolf who helped him break his sire-bond to Klaus.

I’ll also be watching 30 Rock, The Big Bang Theory, Up All Night, Two and a Half Men, and Project Runway All Stars.
