If We Controlled Your Remote… 11/1/12

So, how was your Halloween? The weather here was perfect—a nice change from Sandy’s reign earlier in the week. However, I still didn’t get a lot of Trick-or-Treaters and have almost 2 pounds of candy left over! We’ve got some recommendations on what you should check out tonight while snacking away on all your fun size left-overs.

Tonight, Showtime premieres the late-night scripted mini-series, Reality Show. Mickey Wager, a reality TV producer who hasn’t had a hit show in a while, is looking for the idea that will get him back on top. He decides to secretly film an average American family, Truman Show-style, for a new reality series. However, he soon realizes that the family is too boring, so he starts to inject some artificial drama and temptations into the family’s life, with crazy results.

The series star and creator, Adam Rifkin, also created last year’s LOOK mini-series for Showtime. While I could never really get into LOOK, the idea for this new show sounds great. And based on the trailer, it looks like it’s going to be a really fun dark comedy and a great commentary on just how exploitative and fake reality TV has become.

In tonight’s episode, “The Pitch,” the perfect subjects are found, although they may be too average.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/recording The Big Bang Theory, Elementary, The League, Sweet Genius, Childrens Hospital, and NTSF:SD:SUV::.

I think the comedy that makes me laugh the hardest is The Big Bang Theory. Now that Howard is back, things are slowly getting back to normal for the geek squad and their girls. Last week, Howard kept talking about being in space, and it was irritating everyone. At the end, Bernadette had him watch a video of Buzz Aldrin giving out candy to trick or treaters, and all he kept talking about was how he used to be an astronaut. He realized how silly and annoying it sounded and said he would stop. Also, Leonard seduced Penny using his work. It was hysterical. They had sex in his office, and he was SO excited when she suggested it.

On tonight’s episode, “The Extract Obliteration,” Sheldon’s relationship with Stephen Hawking is threatened over a game of “Words with Friends,” and Penny secretly enrolls in a class at the local college.

See why Sheldon and Stephen Hawking have a falling out tonight on CBS at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of The Big Bang Theory @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Two and a Half Men, Beauty and the Beast, Person of Interest, & Elementary.

Megan’s Choice

Elementary is such a breath of fresh air when it comes to crime dramas. This show is full of witty banter, well thought out cases, and a sexy cast. Lucy Liu as Watson was brilliant casting because she is the perfect balance of cool, calm, and collected, and sexy smarts.

Last week, we watched Sherlock end up being kidnapped while he was working on a case at a large firm, but Watson ended up saving the day simply because she paid enough attention to his crazy short form texting. 🙂

On tonight’s episode, “Lesser Evils,” Holmes conducts research in a hospital morgue and concludes that someone is killing weak and terminally-ill patients. He also learns more about why Joan walked away from her surgical career.

To watch the brilliant mind of Sherlock Holmes at work, tune into CBS at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Elementary @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Big Bang Theory and The X Factor.

JJ’s Choice

Last week’s episode of Parks and Recreation was amazing. Ben proposing to Leslie brought tears to my eyes. The whole episode, I was thinking how they could keep up the season with them apart for any longer, but at least that wasn’t necessary. And although April and Ben were a nice unconventional duo, nothing can top April and Ron together.

On tonight’s episode, “Ben’s Parents,” Leslie gets nervous about meeting Ben’s divorced parents, while Tom, with the help of Jean-Ralphio, prepares to pitch his new business to Ron and Chris rides an emotional rollercoaster.

See if Leslie can control her nerves on NBC at 9:31/8:31c. Learn where to find episodes online of Parks and Recreation @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching 30 Rock, The Big Bang Theory, The Vampire Diaries, The X Factor, Up All Night, Two and a Half Men, & Project Runway All Stars.
