If We Controlled Your Remote… 11/12/12

Goodness, when did winter get here? It was down to about 30 degrees Sunday afternoon! That’s freakin cold, people. Freezing, I tell ya. It’s still cold Sunday night as I write this, and Monday doesn’t look like it’ll be much warmer during the day OR at night, so it’ll be a great night to curl up under a blanket and watch some new TV—and there’s plenty of that tonight. We’re here to give you our (not-so-humble) opinions on what to watch, so read on. 😉

Bones was given a shortened season last year because of Emily D’s pregnancy. To reward the fans (that’s my story, and I’m sticking to it…), they are giving us four extra episodes this season. They won’t necessarily fit in with the current story lines, but they might. This week’s episode is, I believe, one of those four. I’ve seen it already, and I can tell you it’s one of my favorite episodes of the series. It’s an emotional episode for everyone involved, really, and a great take on a story about September 11, 2001. I can’t wait to watch it again with my husband tonight. I think he (& you) will enjoy it as much as I did.

On tonight’s episode, “The Patriot in Purgatory,” when Brennan becomes fascinated with basketball and the underlying concepts behind Phil Jackson’s philosophy of “teamwork,” she calls upon five of her best “squinterns” to complete the task of identifying remains that have been deemed unidentifiable. During their investigation, the squints uncover the identity of a man who died as a result of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, which propels the team to determine if he was a perpetrator or a victim.

Watch all our favorite squinterns working together tonight on FOX at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of Bones @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Dancing with the Stars, How I Met Your Mother, Partners, 2 Broke Girls, The Mob Doctor, Mike & Molly, Diners, Drive-ins & Dives, Hawaii Five-0, Pawn Star$, & Castle.

Some people may feel that 2 Broke Girls crosses lines it shouldn’t with its humor—I don’t. In fact, I often find myself laughing so hard at the situations these girls get themselves into that it brightens up my day anytime. Last episode, we watched as Max and Caroline learned how quickly a credit card can become the devil’s best friend. Luckily, they reigned themselves because I’d hate to see them completely lose everything.

On tonight’s episode, “And the Candy Manwich,” a cute candy store owner has eyes for Caroline, but she’s too embarrassed to see him after a humiliating experience at his candy store. Ryan Hanson (Veronica Mars, Party Down) guest stars.

To see if she can conquer her bad experience and get a date, tune into CBS at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of 2 Broke Girls @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watcing/DVRing The Voice, Bones, The Mob Doctor and Hawaii Five-0.

Last week’s episode of Castle was so much fun! At a sci-fi convention, a super fan of the cult TV series “Nebula 9” was murdered at the Nebula 9 Experience—a recreation of the bridge of the spaceship used on the series. While investigating, Castle and Beckett bumped into a college friend of Beckett’s, and Castle learned that Beckett was a die-hard “Nebula 9” fan back in the day—and even attended conventions dressed in cos-play. Castle would not let Beckett live this down and constantly asked to see her in costume. Meanwhile, Castle also bumped into his daughter, Alexis, roaming the convention floor in a very skimpy costume—which led to some awkward silences back at home.

While I do enjoy the serious case-of-the-week stuff, I really enjoy when the show does these fun, almost stand-alone episodes. I loved the Comic-Con like atmosphere and all of the Firefly references they weaved in while talking about “Nebula 9.” The banter between Castle and Beckett and the reveal of Beckett’s costume at the end of the episode were hilarious! Last week was easily one of my favorite episodes of the series, so I’m really looking forward to seeing if they can top it tonight.

In tonight’s episode, “Swan Song,” Castle and Beckett investigate the murder of a rock star who was being filmed by a documentary crew, and the film crew decide to keep their cameras rolling and record some crime-solving skills in action.

See if Castle & Beckett get caught doing something decidedly non-work partnerish tonight on ABC at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Castle @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/recording How I Met Your Mother, 2 Broke Girls, Revolution, Bones, and The Mob Doctor.

The last episode of Mike & Molly was hilarious, which is kind of a special event for me. I love the show, but to me, it’s less laugh-out-loud than other comedies (usually). But any episode that features Peggy (the awesome Rondi Reed) is good and having her dating Mike’s boss is a stroke of genius.

On tonight’s episode, “Yard Sale,” Molly plans a family yard sale to get rid of some stuff in the house, while Mike and the guys take Carl on a fishing trip to help him get over Christina.

See if Mike & the guys are successful tonight on CBS at 9:30/8:30c. Learn where to find episodes online of Mike & Molly @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching 90210, The Voice, Partners, 2 Broke Girls, Gossip Girl, Castle, and Revolution.
