If We Controlled Your Remote… 12/16/12

Tonight is a very slow night for new TV, and because of that, JJ and Megan are taking the night off. But Kyle & I are here to tell you what we think you should be watching, so read on! 🙂

Jenny’s Choice

thenextironchefsmallThere are several things on tonight for me, a couple of which are actually surprising even to me. (I quit watching Royal Pains very early this season, but I want to watch Evan & Paige get married… And I didn’t watch Ashley’s season of The Bachelorette, but I’m a sucker for this type of thing, so I’ll be watching her wedding to J.P. 🙂 ) But the show I’ll enjoy most tonight is the new episode of The Next Iron Chef. Last week was all about fusion—awkward and just plain wrong food pairings, like chicken liver & peppermints, bone marrow & Skittles, calamari & mini marshmallows, and more. Surprisingly, the judges liked most of the dishes. In the end, it was Chefs Appleman & Mehta that got sent (erroneously, in my opinion) to the Secret Ingredient Showdown. Neither chef excelled in the challenge, but Chef Appleman won by virtue of his whole shrimp head he included in his dish, sending Chef Jehangir Mehta home. I honestly don’t know who I’m rooting for anymore. Some of my favorites coming into the competition have shown incredible attitude, so Chef Amanda Freitag might be my frontrunner now.

On tonight’s episode, “Transcendence,” the four remaining competitors encounter famed magician David Copperfield, who magically reveals an ingredient to be utilized by the chefs in a challenge that involves constructing a delicious Las Vegas-style buffet meal.

Don’t miss the competition tonight on Food Network at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of The Next Iron Chef @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Sugar Dome, The Bachelorette: Ashley & J.P.’s Wedding, & Royal Pains.

dexter1216smallDexter has been great this year, but tonight, the season comes to an end. Last week, Dexter learned that the man who killed his mother was released from prison. He was just about to kill the man, when he realized their meeting had been a trap set by LaGuerta to catch Dexter in the act. While Dexter managed to escape before the police descended on his location, so did his would-be victim. Meanwhile, Debra planted evidence for Dexter to throw LaGuerta off his trail. Later, she got into a car accident after Hannah drugged her water bottle. Once Dexter learned this, he handed the evidence he had been hiding for the murder of the reporter over to Deb, and Hannah was arrested.

By the end of last week’s episode, I was still doubting whether or not Hannah had actually drugged Deb’s water, or if she had done it herself in order to swing Dexter back to her side. Either way, it caused Dexter to turn on his soul-mate-in-evil, which is a shame because I really liked those two together! I can’t wait to see what happens tonight between LaGuerta and Dexter—I will be surprised if she survives the night. And what about the man who killed Dexter’s mother? Will he resurface and go to the police? Will Dexter be found out, and if so, will he be on the run next season?

On tonight’s episode, “Surprise, Motherf…..!” LaGuerta is on the verge of exposing Dexter and his killer ways, while he does his best to cover for himself and Debra and maintain the life he’s created.

Don’t miss the excitement tonight on Showtime at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Dexter @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/recording Survivor, The Cleveland Show, The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers, Royal Pains, and Homeland.
