If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/9/13

Today is a very special day for my house. My kiddo, who is really not so much a kid anymore, turned 15 years old at 7:15 this morning. *sigh* Time flies, even when you don’t want it to, and even though I love the young man he’s becoming, he’s growing up way too fast for my taste. So I may not be watching too much TV tonight myself because we’ll be doing family stuff together, but there’s plenty on, and we are here to tell you what we think you should be watching. 🙂 (Happy birthday, Josh! 😉 )

Jenny’s Choice

chicagofire19smallLast week’s episode of Chicago Fire was great. Shay survived the crash, and when she told Severide she still wasn’t moving back home, he decided that he needed to get help. He asked Dawson (who had confronted him about being high), and they went to pick Shay up together. Severide said he is ready to get help to kick the painkillers and get the surgery he so desperately needs. I was thrilled because I want to like his character, but the longer he was on the painkillers and ignoring the big pink elephant of his injury, the less I liked him. Then we had Flaco, who went to Casey (who I am so crushing on hard!) about his role in the gang banger’s death. Casey stopped him from admitting it and said to think it over, and if he came back the next shift and told him what he thought he was going to tell him, they would go to the cops. If he shook Casey’s hand, everything would be good.

Speaking of Casey, the whole deal with his mother killing his father because he was abusive? Wow… I mean, I’d guessed it before we found out for certain, but…crazy. Then there was Dawson and Peter Mills… I’ve seen the chemistry between the two of them from the start. I like her with him, rather than Casey, but we’ll see how that plays out, I guess. And finally, Herrmann having to watch the limo bounce as his possible new partner in the limo business got it on with…who I can only presume were hookers in the back seat? Awful, but hysterical. LOL I felt bad for the guy, but the talk with his wife and her no-questions-asked support was fantastic.

This show continues to get better and better every episode. I love all the characters and am totally falling for Matt Casey. He’s beyond yummy. I really do love this show because it is unlike any other show I watch. It’s enough like a cop show, which I love, but it’s different, too. It reminds me a little bit of Third Watch, which will forever be one of my favorite shows.

On tonight’s episode, “Under the Knife,” Severide finally tells Chief Boden about his injury and makes some important personal decisions about his future. Meanwhile, Casey struggles with family matters, and Dawson takes matters into her own hands when she discovers a young girl who is the sole survivor at the scene of a rescue call. Sarah Shahi, Kathleen Quinlan, and Nicole Forester guest star.

See what Chief Boden says about Severide’s injury and future tonight on NBC at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Chicago Fire @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Stars in Danger, Guys with Kids, The Neighbors, Law & Order: SVU, Modern Family, Hot in Cleveland, Top Chef, & Happily Divorced.

svu19smallLaw & Order: SVU is one of those shows that makes you tense, unhappy, and happy, all at the same time. I’m always happy when they finally catch the criminal, but at the same time, I find the story lines at times a little disturbing. Why do I watch? I can’t help it. I love watching the mystery and trying to figure it out. I really hope we see Benson in a healthy, happy relationship soon because she sure has been looking for a long time now.

On tonight’s episode, “Beautiful Frame,” when a rape victim in an SVU case is arrested for the murder of her ex-boyfriend, Suffolk County DA Pam James (guest star Jane Kaczmarek) lands the case and swiftly brings charges against the young woman. Detective Benson questions the circumstances of the arrest and gathers enough evidence for DA Barba (Raul Esparza) to levy charges in Manhattan against another suspect. The two ambitious DAs square off in separate trials for the same murder, hoping to get a conviction before the other derails their case.

To see if Benson gets her man, tune into NBC at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Law & Order: SVU @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching Chicago Fire.

I’m looking forward to an all new I Get That a Lot special on CBS tonight. I always really enjoy these specials in which celebrities take on service jobs, hoping to get recognized so they can have a little fun. When confronted by patrons who think they recognize them, the celebs deny everything, responding “I get that a lot” to the fact that they look like someone famous. It’s always hilarious to see the celebs make fun of themselves while trying to convince these patrons they are not who they think they are.

It looks like tonight’s episode will be another fun one! The set-ups include Phil Keoghan working at an outdoor-apparel store, Bruce Jenner selling shoes, Larry Hagman offering food samples to shoppers, Jeff Gordon selling automotive supplies, Jane Seymour as a store greeter, and Cheech Marin working at a party store.

Check out Larry Hagman’s last appearance on CBS tonight at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of I Get That a Lot @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Middle, The Neighbors, Modern Family, Suburgatory, Nashville, Whitney, Guys with Kids, American Horror Story, and Top Chef.

JJ’s Choice

modernfamily19smallAll the January trailers for Modern Family have me so excited. Gloria will be having her baby sometime this month. I’m expecting a lot of hilarity, and it’s time for her to lose that insane baby bump. And the latest episode was hilarious because it showed Phil’s evil side.

On tonight’s episode, “New Years Eve,” Jay invites the whole family to celebrate New Year’s together in Palm Springs, but when everyone starts to branch off to do their own thing, Jay is left dejected until he runs into Billy Dee Williams. Back at home, Haley and Alex watch over the kids, but it is quite a challenge.

Find out if they succeed on ABC at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Modern Family @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching Whitney, Suburgatory, Hot in Cleveland, Happily Divorced, and Love You, Mean It with Whitney Cummings.
