If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/11/13

TGIF! It’s been kind of a long week, so I’m excited for the weekend. 🙂 And tonight’s new TV is a great way to usher in the relaxation of the weekend, so check out what we think you should be watching. 🙂

Jenny’s Choice

csiny111smallI love CSI: NY because I just really love the characters. The cases are good, too, but the characters are what keep me tied to the show more than anything. Last week, when Jo figured out that the angel sending a million dollars to seemingly random people around the city was actually Sid, it wasn’t too huge a surprise for me. I figured it out pretty quickly after Jo started looking into it. But Sid’s announcement to her that he had cancer was incredibly sad and kind of shocking. And I loved Flack and Lovato on their date and finally kissing! That was great. 😀

On tonight’s episode, “Civilized Lies,” when a beloved off-duty NYPD officer perishes in a robbery, the CSIs use the art of interrogation to break down their suspects and get to the truth.

See how the New York CSIs get to the truth tonight on CBS at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of CSI: NY @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Last Man Standing, Malibu Country, Fringe, Blue Bloods, & Mystery Diners.

Megan’s Choice

bluebloods111smallBlue Bloods seemed to have a slow start to this season, and it was just starting to pick up a good rhythm when it was time to break for the holidays. I’m hoping that the story lines can continue to grow, because I really do love the cast and the show as a whole, but I don’t want to devote time to a story line that drags. Although, on the other side of the coin, there are some yummy boys to look at, including Donnie Wahlberg and Will Estes, so at least our eyes won’t be bored.

On tonight’s episode, “Front Page News,” Jamie deals with the consequences of his action on the job; Erin questions Mayor Poole.

To see how the Regan family handles the public attention, tune into CBS at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Blue Bloods @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching CSI: NY and Banshee.

Kyle’s Choice

banshee2smallCinemax has been doing really well with its new original series lately. They have turned Fridays into an action-packed TV night—first with Strike Back, then Hunted, and tonight, they add the new show Banshee. This series is being produced by Alan Ball, best known for creating shows like True Blood and Six Feet Under. The show follows ex-con and master thief Lucas Hood, who arrives in the small town of Banshee, Pennsylvania, where he assumes the identity of the deceased sheriff. But just because he looks like the law, it doesn’t mean he can’t continue his old illicit activities, and he soon starts to cook up some new schemes.

I can’t wait to see tonight’s premiere—it looks like this show is going to be a nice blend of action and fun. The cast also looks great. It is led by Antony Starr, who I thought did an excellent job playing twin brothers for six seasons on the hit New Zealand series Outrageous Fortune (the series had a failed US-remake a few years ago called Scoundrels). The rest of the cast includes Ben Cross (Chariots of Fire, Dark Shadows), Frankie Faison (The Wire), Trieste Kelly Dunn (Canterbury’s Law), Matt Servitto (Harry’s Law), Ryann Shane (Light’s Out), Demetrius Grosse (Justified), and Matthew Rauch (Blue Bloods).

On tonight’s episode, “Pilot,” an ex-con assumes the identity of a lawman in a small, out-of-the-way Pennsylvania town. Upon arriving in Banshee, Pa., Sheriff Lucas Hood immediately has a chance run-in with an Amish gangster, while keeping a watchful eye out for the New York mob czar he once double-crossed.

See the new drama tonight on Cinemax at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Banshee @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching/recording Fringe, Portlandia, Out There, and Undercover Boss.

JJ’s Choice

fringe111smallLike my pick yesterday (30 Rock), Fringe is almost at the finish line. Only 3 more hours to finish the show, and I’m very curious to see how it all will end. I wonder how Michael will fit into it, and I wonder if we will get a happy ending, if it’s possible.

On tonight’s episode, “The Boy Must Live,” Walter enters the deprivation tank once more to find information on Donald, while Windmark sets out on a revealing mission of his own.

Find out what they learn on FOX at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Fringe @ Clicker.
