Tonight is the series premiere of Pete Rose: Hits & Mrs. on TLC at 10/9c, followed by a 2nd new episode at 10:30/9:30c. TLC steps up to the plate with a new six-part docu-series sharing the lives of professional baseball’s most loveable bad boy, the All-Time Hit King, Pete Rose and his new fiancée, former Playboy model Kiana Kim. The show follows Pete and Kiana as they blend their respective families and prepare for a new life together. Pete and Kiana are happily engaged – but as with many couples, the road to a wedding isn’t always smooth. This new modern family will experience all of the challenges other families face – and much more. Much younger than her soon to be husband, Kiana is a vivacious mother of two beautiful kids from a previous marriage, Cassie (14) and Ashton (11). This will be Pete’s third go-around raising kids, as he brings four older children of his own into the mix – some of whom have reservations about Kiana’s age and their upcoming nuptials. Together they will face the added challenge of determining where to lay down roots. With Pete living and working in Las Vegas, and Kiana and her two kids residing in Los Angeles, can they manage a long distance relationship under separate roofs in different cities?

Tonight is also the series premiere of Container Wars on TruTV at 10:30/9:30c. This auction show is unlike any other auction show on television, because this one takes place in a commercial shipping port. The cast will compete against each other to buy the contents of huge shipping containers that have come from all around the world. They have no idea what’s inside the containers until the doors are opened. They then have only have a few minutes to assess what’s visible and decide whether to bid. The winner of each container then checks the contents in greater detail and decides on the amount of profit or loss they are likely to make.

The time-traveling police drama stars Rachel Nichols (Criminal Minds) as Kiera Cameron, a cop from the future who finds herself trapped in the present day. When a group of fanatical terrorists escapes their planned execution in 2077 by vaulting back in time to 2012, they inadvertently sweep along Kiera, a dedicated City Protective Services officer. With unexpected assistance from teen tech genius Alec Sadler, played by Erik Knudsen (Jericho), Kiera infiltrates the local police department and forms an uneasy alliance with her new partner, detective Carlos Fonnegra, portrayed by Victor Webster (Castle, Melrose Place). Though desperate to get back to her husband and son, Kiera concentrates on bringing down the terrorists before they change the course of history.

Tonight is the series premiere of The Carrie Diaries on The CW at 8/7c. The show takes place in 1984, where life is not easy for 16-year-old Carrie Bradshaw. Since their mother passed away, Carrie’s younger sister Dorritt is more rebellious than ever, and their father Tom is overwhelmed with the responsibility of suddenly having to care for two teenage girls on his own. Carrie’s friends – sweet, geeky Mouse, sarcastic and self-assured Maggie and sensitive Walt – make life bearable, but a suburban life in Connecticut isn’t doing much to take her mind off her troubles. And even though the arrival of a sexy new transfer student named Sebastian brings some excitement to Carrie’s world, she is struggling to move on from her grief. So when Tom offers Carrie the chance to intern at a law firm in Manhattan, she leaps at the chance. Carrie’s eyes are opened wide at the glamour and grit of New York City – and when she meets Larissa, the style editor for Interview magazine, she’s inspired by the club culture and unique individuals that make up Larissa’s world. Carrie’s friends and family may have a big place in her heart, but she’s fallen in love for the first time with the most important man in her life – Manhattan. It stars AnnaSophia Robb, Matt Letscher, Stefania Owen, Austin Butler, Brendan Dooling, Chloe Bridges, Ellen Wong, Freema Agyeman, & Katie Findlay.

Tonight is the series premiere of King of the Nerds on TBS at 10/9c. Hosted by actors Robert Carradine and Curtis Armstrong (Revenge of the Nerds), the show is the ultimate nerd-off. The series will follow 11 fierce competitors from across the nerd spectrum as they set out to win $100,000 and be crowned the greatest nerd of them all.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Legit on FX at 10:30/9:30c. Jim Jefferies is an edgy, foul-mouthed stand-up comedian from Australia, in his mid-30s and living in LA, struggling to make his life and career more “legit,” only to find it a difficult, uncomfortable uphill struggle every step of the way. Jim is encouraged in his quest by Steve (Dan Bakkedahl), his neurotic best friend and roommate, a cyber-law library salesman who struggles to stay on his feet in the wake of a divorce, and Steve’s brother, Billy (DJ Qualls), who suffers from advanced staged Muscular Dystrophy and is confined to a wheelchair.

Finally, tonight is the series premiere of Newsreaders on Cartoon Network at 11:59/10:59c. The show is an absurd take on the television news magazine format, a show that goes behind the stories nobody else thinks are stories – because they’re not. Newsreaders is the news magazine with more gratuitous nudity than any other news magazine.* *Except for “Newsjuggs.” Starring Mather Zickel as host Louis La Fonda, in its premiere season, Newsreaders will also feature guest stars Katie Aselton, Ed Begley Jr., Lizzy Caplan, Garret Dillahunt, Dave Foley, Rachel Harris, Dennis Hayesbert, Tom Lennon, Joey McIntyre, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Dan Rather, Brandon Routh, and Jane Seymour.

Saturday

Saturday is the season finale of Wedding Band on TBS at 10/9c.

Tonight is the 75-minute series premiere of Ripper Street on BBC America at 9/8c. In the aftermath of the Jack the Ripper murders, can anyone keep order in the blood stained London Streets? The show, set in and around Victorian London, stars Matthew Macfadyen (Anna Karenina, MI-5, Pride and Prejudice), Jerome Flynn (Game of Thrones), Adam Rothenberg (Alcatraz), Myanna Buring (The Twilight Saga, White Heat), and David Dawson (Luther, Secret Diary of a Call Girl). Haunted by the failure to catch London’s most evil killer, Inspector Edmund Reid (Macfadyen) now heads up the notorious H Division, the toughest district in London’s East End. Charged with keeping order in the chaotic streets of Whitechapel, Inspector Reid is soon drawn deep into the seedy criminal underworld of Victorian London – where fear always lurks that each new murder could mark the return of The Ripper.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Stuff You Should Know on Science Channel at 10/9c, followed by a 2nd new episode at 10:30/9:30c. This is a new genre-bending television series about a real podcast that’s set in a fictional world. Let us explain… Josh Clark and Chuck Bryant are two real guys – uber-popular podcasters and actual Discovery Communications employees. Their podcast, also called “Stuff You Should Know,” is in the top ten on iTunes with more than five million monthly downloads. The series will follow Josh and Chuck inside and outside the recording booth, combining all the delicious informational nuggets of their podcast and wrapping them in deadpan mockumentary-style humor. Along for the ride are a wide array of guests making cameo appearances, including John Hodgman, Sarah Silverman, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Rufus Wainwright, and Michio Kaku.

Finally, tonight is the 45-minute series premiere of Wild Things with Dominic Monaghan on BBC America at 10:15/9:15c. The show is an exhilarating travel-adventure series that follows actor and wildlife enthusiast, Dominic Monaghan (Lost, Lord of the Rings), as he explores the remote corners of the globe in search of some the most badass animals in the world. In each episode of the eight part series, Dominic takes the viewer along on an intimate journey as he backpacks through the rainforests of Ecuador, the caves of Venezuela, the arid deserts of Namibia and many more exotic locales – to get up close and personal with some of the most dangerous and elusive creatures known to man. Along the way, he’ll encounter vibrant locals, quirky experts and a host of creatures that inhabit the strange and wonderfully wild places on our planet.

Tonight is a new episode of The Graham Norton Show on BBC America at 11/10c. Guests include Quentin Tarantino, James McAvoy, Alan Davies, & Emeli Sande.
