If We Controlled Your Remote… 4/15/13

I’m so happy it’s Monday, simply because for the first time in what feels like forever, I have a bunch of stuff to record! It’s been pretty slow for me for a couple of weeks. (Not that you could tell from my DVR, which is absolutely groaning with how full it is. I’m worried because it’s really dragging, too, so I hope it doesn’t die on me… OMG. That would be killer! Eek…) On a good note, JJ’s feeling better and is back tonight with a recommendation. Megan has power, but she spent the time after it FINALLY came back on cleaning and getting the house and family in order—as well as a shower, which is good because I could sme—you know, never mind. 😉 She’ll be back with us tomorrow, though. 😀 Now, see what Kyle, JJ, & I think you should be watching tonight. 🙂

Jenny’s Choice #1

bones415smallBones fans, this is going to be an episode you don’t wanna miss. But first, let’s talk about the last new episode. Two weeks ago, it was really all about two things: Bones accepting that her daughter was just like most kids her age…and a biter, (That didn’t sit well with her and she didn’t believe it until Christine bit her. Hah) as well as Hodgins eating the rest of Finn’s (who I love) hot sauce, which turned out to be the last of his grandma’s secret recipe. So Hodgins spent all episode figuring out what the ingredients were and making it for Finn—which was so sweet—and it turned out to be a hit, which was so funny because they got a real-life chef to guest star and help produce the sauce for sale. The case itself was good—they always are—but compared to the side stories, it was almost forgettable. Once I was reminded of what the case was, then I remembered more about it, but…

So that brings us to tonight’s ep. For fans that have been around since the beginning, you know that Booth’s father was an abusive alcoholic, and Booth & his brother Jared lived with their Pop (grandpa) for a while. We’ve never met Booth’s mother, but if my memory serves me correctly, I don’t think he has a lot of fond memories. Maybe because she didn’t leave his father, or didn’t protect them like she should’ve… I don’t know. But! We get to meet her tonight because Joanna Cassidy (who plays Megan’s mom on Body of Proof) is guest starring as Marianne Booth. Yay! Plus, we get to see Booth in his boxers if the pictures I’ve seen are any indication. That’s NEVER a bad thing. *snicker* Thank you, Hart Hanson & Stephen Nathan. 😉

On tonight’s episode, “The Party in the Pants,” the Jeffersonian team investigates the murder of Jack Spindler, a successful employee at a brokerage firm by day, but a stripper by night. When the team learns how Spindler’s moonlighting affected his personal life, they start to question the people closest to him, including his stripper friend, Storm (guest star Brandon Barash). Meanwhile, Booth’s mother (guest star Joanna Cassidy) shows up after a 24-year absence in his life and makes a special request of him.

To see what Booth’s mother wants from him, tune in to FOX at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of Bones @ TV.com.

Kyle’s Choice

defiance1smallTonight, Syfy returns to its roots with the 2-hour series premiere of Defiance. It’s the year 2046, more than 30 years after a war between the humans and aliens. During this time, the landscape of the Earth has been terraformed by the aliens, who were forced to leave their own galaxy and find a new home on Earth. Now humans and aliens must learn to live side-by-side in the small town of Defiance, established in what was formerly St. Louis. However, the town faces internal strife as well as threats from the outside world. The series stars Grant Bowler (True Blood), Julie Benz (Dexter, Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Jaime Murray (Warehouse 13, Dexter), Mia Kirshner (24, The L Word), Stephanie Leonidas, Tony Curran, Graham Greene, and Fionnula Flanagan (Lost).

I previewed tonight’s premiere yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it—I couldn’t believe how quickly the 2 hours flew by. It’s got action, drama, and humor, and it’s a welcome return to the sci-fi dramas that were once a staple of the Syfy channel (back when it was called Sci-Fi). The pilot also sets up some interesting mysteries and conflicts that will be explored throughout the season. I can’t wait to see more! Back in October, I had the chance to visit the set of Defiance in Toronto. You can read about it and see all of my photos on NoReruns.net.

On tonight’s episode, “Pilot,” the arrival of the mysterious Nolan and his charge Irisa to the town of Defiance marks a threat to the fragile peace that exists between the residents.

Catch the 2-hour premiere tonight on Syfy at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Defiance @ TV.com.

I’ll also be watching/recording How I Met Your Mother, 2 Broke Girls, Castle, Revolution, Bones, The Following, and Bates Motel.

JJ’s Choice

revolution415smallThe creators of Revolution had been mentioning in the press that we would get some answers this season, and so far, they haven’t disappointed. The first episode back felt like a bit of a cop out (all that travel but no time to explain anything?), but now we found out something went wrong with the original invention that had the ability to (locally?) steal electricity and the fact that Randall was using it for his personal gain to take revenge for whatever happened with his son.

On tonight’s episode, “The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia,” paranoia strikes Monroe as Neville disappears, and Jason makes a big decision. Meanwhile, the familial bond between Miles and Charlie grows stronger, while elsewhere, Miles experiences romantic attraction with both Rachel and Nora. And Rachel sets off on her dangerous quest to infiltrate the Tower and restore power to the world before Monroe can ignite a nuclear device.

See if Rachel succeeds on NBC at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Revolution @ TV.com.

I’ll also be watching Oh Sit! (don’t judge me), The Voice, 2 Broke Girls, 90210, Defiance, Mike & Molly, and Castle.

Jenny’s Choice #2

castle415smallLike my first pick, Castle’s last new episode was two weeks ago. It was honestly one of my favorites of the entire series. As their 100th episode, I think it was 100% a success. While laid up with a bum leg, Castle witnessed what he was positive was a murder in an apartment in the building across from his. He got Beckett, the boys, and Alexis involved in trying to prove it, which didn’t work out so well. In the end, he found out it had all been a setup by Beckett because she knew how bored he was being laid up and unable to help with cases. It was sweet, and funny, and just adorable, and I loved it. Tonight’s episode should be the classic fun that makes fans love it, and I can’t wait.

On tonight’s episode, “The Fast and the Furriest,” when Castle and Beckett find giant footprints at the site of a vicious murder, the team is forced to confront the unlikely theory that Bigfoot is the killer. But as they trek into the world of primate research, big game hunting, and mythological creatures, they realize that finding the man (or beast) responsible may put them on the endangered species list.

See if they’ve found the mythical creature tonight on ABC at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Castle @ TV.com.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing How I Met Your Mother, Oh Sit!, Rules of Engagement, 2 Broke Girls, Defiance, The Following, Mike & Molly, & Hawaii Five-0.
