This has been quite a hectic week for me, and I really can’t wait for the weekend to arrive! It’s Father’s Day on Sunday, and I still haven’t even picked up a card or gift yet. Even with a lot less on TV right now, I have still somehow managed to get my TiVo up to 92% full! And tonight, we’ve got some more TV suggestions to help you fill up your own DVRs! 🙂
Kyle’s Choice #1
Last week, Reelz kicked off a new reality competition series called Race to the Scene. Each episode finds three teams of two contestants racing to get through a series of tasks based on famous scenes from blockbuster films. Last week, the contestants had to dress up like Forrest Gump and run, Forrest, run through an obstacle course while wearing leg braces. Once through, they had to eat a box of chocolates until they found the specially filled one. Afterwards, they had to complete tasks based on scenes from Independence Day.
Dolph Lundgren is such a fun host—he dresses up and does his own impressions of the characters from the films while also playfully taunting the contestants as they struggle to get through their tasks. Who knew he was so funny?! I’m interested to see what other movies they take on—and what other impressions Dolph has in his repertoire.
On tonight’s episode, scenes from “Terminator 2: Judgment Day” and “Rush Hour” are featured.

Jenny’s Choice #1
On last week’s premiere of Burn Notice, we saw what’s happened after Michael made a deal with the CIA to get his family & friends out of prison. Unfortunately, that meant him going deep, deep, deep undercover in the Dominican Republic—and boy, did he look the worse for wear. He had to become an old cover persona, so he was a drunk, dirty fighting in a bar, and living in a slum of an apartment, hoping to get an “in” with an old “friend,” who he was supposed to spy on. Meanwhile, in Miami, Sam & Jesse were both visited by a man (using 2 separate “disguises” and IDs) trying to find out if Michael was still working for the CIA. Sam figured out the guy wasn’t who he said he was but had to let the guy go when he got a knife held to his manly bits. In the process of trying to find the man after they tracked him down, Sam almost got blown to bits. The part with him & Jesse was great.
Unfortunately, Maddie is the one who blew Michael’s cover to that same man—who claimed at that point to be someone who would help make the decision about whether or not she got custody of Nate’s son. You could tell she felt horrible about it when Fiona pointed out her mistake. Speaking of Fiona… That’s the ONE thing I HATED about the premiere. I HATE that Fiona has a new boyfriend. Like I said last week…I know they’ll end up together, but how long will they be separated? How much of this season will we have to see her with this other guy who is nowhere NEAR Michael Westen in terms of sexiness, personality, and just…all-around badass?
On tonight’s 100th episode, “Forget Me Not,” back in Miami, Michael hunts a sociopath determined to blow his cover, but he faces desperate decisions when agent Strong forbids him from contacting Fiona, Sam, and Jesse while in the US in order to keep them safe.

Kyle’s Choice #2
Last week, TNT also kicked off its own action competition series hosted by another action movie star. In The Hero, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has the contestants perform tests to prove they have the attributes of a hero—courage, strength, honesty, etc. The contestants must work together in team challenges, but ultimately, only one of them will take home the prize money. Each week, only one person is chosen to compete in the hero challenge to try to add money to the prize pot. If they win, they can choose to secretly keep the money for themselves, but America ultimately votes on who gets the big pool of money in the end, and being greedy may eliminate their chances of winning.
I don’t know why these contestants aren’t being greedy and just keep the money for themselves. The other contestants will never know if they took the money or not, and there is no guarantee that America will choose them in the end. Last week, one woman was offered $25K to secretly make the team challenge a little more difficult, but she refused. And the guy who won the hero challenge chose to put the $50K into the pot! I would be taking any money I was offered, especially since your fellow contestants would have no idea you did and you have no idea if they are keeping the money.
On tonight’s episode, “Teamwork,” the contestants must push an all-terrain vehicle through Colón, Panama. They must also fly in helicopters and maneuver through a dry dock as it fills with rushing water.

Jenny’s Choice #2
I really loved the series premiere of Graceland—well, all but one little part, but I’ll get to that in a minute. I loved the characters, the story lines, and the humor that wove throughout. The drama was great too, like when Mike & Briggs were outside the safe house, yelling for the bad guys to put their guns down. I really enjoyed it all, like I said…except the very end. Why in the WORLD do we HAVE TO HAVE another conspiracy story line? Is the show not enough to have these different branches of law enforcement living together undercover and showing the cases they have to deal with? Do we have to add in Mike there specifically to spy on Briggs on orders from above? I really hate that, and I hope it doesn’t detract from my ability to enjoy the show. I’m gonna give it a while, though, since I loved the cast & other stories so much.
On tonight’s episode, “Guadalajara Dog,” FBI agent Mike Warren faces the moral complications that come with life working undercover as he and Agent Briggs seize the opportunity during clashing investigations to attempt to pit dangerous opposing gangs against each other.

Megan’s Choice
I’m still not sure I like Hell’s Kitchen being on Thursdays, but at least it means 2 nights in a row of Gordon Ramsay. Last week’s episode held train wreck after train wreck—and how is it possible that Zack is still there? He is so absolutely annoying and useless. I’d be okay with either Cyndi or Jon winning, because they are the only ones who have been consistent. As long as Zach doesn’t win, I’m happy.
On tonight’s episode, “6 Chefs Compete,” Ramsay tests the contestants’ ability to communicate and work together with a three entree relay race, with the winners getting a helicopter tour and caviar tasting.

My last pick tonight is the season premiere of Sullivan & Son. I really liked this show last season—an Asian-American corporate attorney left New York and returned home to Pittsburgh to take over the family bar. The characters are funny, the stories are definitely worth a laugh, and yes, it’s pretty crude, but it’s definitely my type of humor. I’ve seen tonight’s premiere, and it’s another funny start to the season. If you haven’t checked it out yet, you should!
On tonight’s episode, “The Pilot, One More Time,” after Susan’s overachieving husband visits Steve’s bar, she considers leaving her successful career to follow her dreams just like her brother. Melanie Sutton puts together a support group for sports fans who are confused.
