If We Controlled Your Remote… 7/9/13

Holy smokes. We went from a summer of pretty cool hot weather to quite hot almost overnight. I knew it had to come sometime, and I guess I’m just lucky it waited until a week into July to do it! While I try to stay cool, check out what Kyle & I recommend on TV tonight.

Jenny’s Choice

sytycd2013smallJJ said last week that he was having trouble connecting with the contestants this season on So You Think You Can Dance, and I’m not having that issue at all. I’m really loving some of them: Curtis the tapper, Fik-Shun the Hip-Hopper, Jade the animator, Jenna the ballroom dancer, Mackenzie the contemporary dancer, & Amy the jazz dancer have all caught my eye quite a bit. I’m not sure which two I love most, although Fik-Shun is just adorable. Last week was the first (& it turns out, only) week that the judges announced the bottom six dancer, immediately told two they were safe, and asked the remaining four to dance for their lives. They then announced the two contestants that were leaving the competition—but only after dancing their routines with their partners. Wait, WHAT? They get kicked off the show and then are expected to dance well, with their full enthusiasm and concentration and emotions, just a few minutes later? Luckily, fans were so vocal in their outcries after the show aired that less than forty-eight hours later, Nigel Lithgow announced they would be changing the format. They will now be revealing America’s vote at the beginning of the show and judging at the end. Thank goodness!

On tonight’s episode, “Top 18 Perform, 2 Eliminated,” this season’s Top 18 finalists perform for America once again before discovering which female and which male dancers will be sent home packing.

Watch to see if your favorites survive to dance another day tonight on FOX at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing America’s Got Talent, Rizzoli & Isles, Chopped, & Total Blackout.

interiortherapysmallTonight, Bravo kicks off the second season of Interior Therapy with Jeff Lewis. Each week, designer Jeff Lewis moves into a new client’s home and tries to transform both their house and their personal lives. Joining him for these renovations are his Flipping Out costars, assistant Jenni Pulos and housekeeper Zoila Chavez.

Jeff Lewis is always hilarious and unafraid to speak his mind, telling his clients exactly what he thinks is wrong with them. I wonder how much Jenni will actually be participating this season, as she was pregnant at the time this was filmed, but the interplay between her and Jeff is always a lot of fun. I’m looking forward to another season of zaniness.

On tonight’s episode, “Fabulous Delusion,” Jeff’s design is questioned as he squares off against a demanding client.

To see the fun and fabulousness, tune in to Bravo at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Chopped, Rizzoli & Isles, Perception, Exit, and Total Blackout.
