Welcome to a new week for TV. Kyle’s at Comic-Con, and Megan’s away for a birthday celebration with her man, so it’s just JJ & me tonight. And that’s okay, ’cause we’ve got some good recommendations. 😉 Keep reading to find out out what!

I’ve been a fan of HGTV Star since the beginning. Then season’s been pretty good, too. I was upset that Anne went home last week. I’m not a fan of Brooks at all. I think he’s weird—which isn’t always a bad thing, but in this case…—and too awkward on camera. Anne was always enjoyable on camera, and yes, her designs were always “pretty,” but that didn’t necessitate sending her home, in my opinion. Out of the two designers left besides Brooks, I have to throw my vote to Tiffany. Jeribai is okay, but as a TV viewer, I’d prefer watching Tiffany.
On tonight’s episode, “Palm Springs Finale,” the three finalists must make over a suite in a Palm Springs resort hotel.
Find out who goes home the winner tonight on HGTV at 8/7c.

Last week, The Newsroom returned to our TV, and before it aired, I could have beenm more excited. But now that I’ve seen the first episode, I really can’t wait weekly for a new episode. The show was tweaked a bit, still playing in the past, but feeling less convenient (I know someone who knows someone who was their roommate?) and started empowering women as well. With the addition of the Genoa-problem, it seems that the NewsNight people made a big mistake. And the season tied up some of the things that happened in season one (calling the Tea Party the American version of The Taliban).
On tonight’s episode, “The Genoa Tip” gets the ball rolling on the tip that will cripple the network, MacKenzie and Sloan continue to push Will on drones, as Don urges will to advocate for Troy Davis. Meanwhile, Maggie is un-friended by her roommate, but gets the assignment she’s been begging for.
See the Genoa-story continue to unfold on HBO at 10/9c.
I’ll also be watching True Blood, Whodunnit?, and Falling Skies.

I love cooking & design competition shows, and tonight is the start of a new one on HGTV. Plus, this one’s hosted by cute twin brothers Jonathan & Drew Scott, from Property Brothers. On their new show, Brother vs. Brother, Jonathan and Drew each mentor a team of six home improvement experts. Each week, the contestants, who are skilled home renovators and decorators, compete in various challenges to find out if they’ve succeeded in upping the real estate value of the property. Along the way, Drew and Jonathan coach each contestant, but only one will be recognized as the most promising home improvement expert and win the $50,000 grand prize.
On tonight’s episode, “Battle of the Bros,” Jonathan and Drew Scott mentor teams of home improvement experts.
See if this new competition series is worth the time spent watching tonight on HGTV at 10/9c.
I’ll also be watching/DVRing Food Court Wars, Food Network Star, Whodunnit?, & Crossing Lines.
