Tonight is the series premiere of Capture on The CW at 9/8c. In the wild, you are either the hunter or you are the prey. Twelve teams of two are about to enter the Hunting Grounds, a high-tech wilderness compound, where they must live in primitive conditions for one month in a winner-take-all battle to survive. At the mercy of the Game Master, the teams compete against each other for scarce resources and a $250,000 grand prize. Each week, different teams are designated as the Hunters. The teams being hunted are living on limited rations and wearing high-tech equipment that forces them to stay constantly on the move, making hunger and exhaustion very real problems. Additional food can be found at the Supply Station, but since the Hunters may the area staked out at any time, a visit to the Station is extremely risky. Emotions run high and sabotage is common as the teams all work to stay on the move and out of the range of the Hunters. The individual teams work through the tension and tough conditions, but relationships are often pushed to the breaking point. Meanwhile, the Hunters are using strategy and the latest GPS technology to track down the other teams and tag them by activating a pulsating device known as the Talon. When the Hunters have two teams in captivity, the rest of the competitors will vote on who stays and who goes. As the teams are eliminated, the Game Master also continuously decreases the size of the playing field, making hiding places even scarcer for those who remain. In this sophisticated game of cat-and-mouse, only one team will prevail to walk away with the $250,000 prize.

Tonight is the series premiere of Hatfields & McCoys: Whit Lightning on History Channel at 10/9c, followed by a 2nd new episode at 10:30/9:30c. To this day, the Hatfields and McCoys still live along the West Virginia and Kentucky border on the same land where their ancestors waged America’s most notorious family feud. One hundred fifty years later, they are still working the coal mines and still making moonshine. Divided by the Tug River and generations of bad blood, they still don’t get along. Sure, over the years, treaties have been signed and handshakes exchanged, but none of that can erase their violent past. Now, the legendary clans are trying to put aside their hateful history and come together, even as old tensions run high. The show follows the current real-life descendants of Randall McCoy and Devil Anse Hatfield as they face an opportunity that could rewrite history – or further propel their hatred well into the 21st century.

Tonight is the series premiere of Saint Hoods on Discovery Channel at 10/9c. For centuries, Boston has been run by tough neighborhood crews that are in a constant battle for ultimate control and power. On the streets these crews are the law, the keepers of an old world way of life, running Boston’s underworld with an iron fist. Now, for the first time ever, Discovery Channel is taking viewers to the front lines of this never-ending turf war between Boston’s oldest rival crews. With unprecedented access, Discovery will showcase three of Boston’s most powerful crews, Southie, Roslindale, and Dorchester, as they vie for customers in the lucrative business of sports gambling. However, these businesses extend far beyond just taking bets. The crews claim to offer loans, move merchandise and solve “neighborhood” problems on their own terms. Southie, the largest and most powerful crew in Boston, is run by the notorious Pat Nee, famed for his battles with gangster Whitey Bulger. As the dominant crew, Southie looks to maintain their status quo, using their reputation – and force – to maintain order. The upstart Roslindale crew operates in a neighboring territory but is forced to pay Southie “rent” – a fee for operating – which has long been a source of tension. The “Rozzie” crew wants to challenge Southie’s power but knows there could be dire consequences. The smaller Dorchester crew finds themselves caught in the middle. They want to maintain their independent status but fear they’ll be forced to pick sides if a Southie versus Rozzie battle erupts. It’s a difficult position to be in, but it’s the way of life on the streets. As the show unfolds, you will want to keep the car running and one eye on the door because you never know what to expect when you are dealing with these crews…especially if you owe them money.
