We had a pretty good family camping trip, with only a couple of injuries and only one trip to the emergency room. My 13-year-old stepson got a fish hook through his finger—yes, it was as nasty as it sounds, but he’s doing fine and is back to normal. Now, we’re all back to civilization and catching up on TV. Let’s see what you should be watching tonight.
Mistresses is still heating up our televisions every week, and I can’t think of a better way to spend the summer. These women are breaking boundaries and making TV racy again—people compare it to Desperate Housewives, but in my opinion, this show is far more entertaining, and the cast is incredibly hot. Last episode, we watched as Henry gave Savi an ultimatum about the baby: if it’s not his, then she has to choose between him or the child. In that moment, I hated Henry—choose to not have a baby because it’s not his? Well, too bad for him. The baby didn’t ask to be conceived. Don’t get me wrong… I get how Henry could feel so betrayed, but if he ever loved Savi, then he wouldn’t ask her to choose.
On tonight’s episode, “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?” when Savi and Joss’s free-spirited, open-minded and often absent mother comes for an unexpected visit, she brings big news, but also stirs up some long-simmering family tensions.
To see how the reunion goes, tune in to ABC at 10/9c.
I’ll also be watching The Bachelorette, Teen Wolf, Siberia, American Ninja Warrior, and Breaking Pointe.

I still love The Glades, but it’s kind of annoying me. I’m not a big fan of the Jim’s dad story line. I’m hoping it won’t scare Jim off from his relationship with Callie. And what in heaven’s name are they doing bringing Ray back into the picture? Is he really leaving WitSec? I hope not. Bleh. I also kind of hate that they’re making Jeff into more of a normal teenage boy. *laugh* I get enough of that in my own life! I loved how he was such a sweet kid… Now he’s turned into kind of a snotty, surly teenager, damn it. 😉 Last week’s episode, with the poly relationship, was pretty funny, though. My family & I had a lot of fun trying to figure out the different shapes if they kept adding people: The triangle would turn into a Y with the addition of the third guy. Four would be an X. Etc etc. Hah!
On tonight’s episode, “Fast Ball,” the murder of the first female professional Jai Alai player leads Jim to investigate the multi-million dollar gambling industry in Florida built around the 600-year old sport, and Jim’s mother Joan arrives to join the dysfunctional reunion. Corbin Bernsen and Marilu Henner guest star.
Find out how the family reunion goes tonight on A&E at 9/8c.
I’ll also be watching/DVRing American Ninja Warrior, Major Crimes, King & Maxwell, Longmire, Supermarket Superstar, & Under the Dome.
Tonight, Sundance Channel kicks off an all new series called The Writers’ Room. Each week, host Jim Rash (who plays Dean Pelton on Community and is one of the Academy Award winning screenwriters of The Descendants) interviews the creative folks behind of some of TV’s top series to see how the show’s characters and twists and turns came about. I’m looking forward to checking this out—it looks like they will be covering some great shows this season: Breaking Bad, Parks and Recreation, New Girl, Dexter, Game of Thrones, and American Horror Story!
On tonight’s episode, “Breaking Bad,” viewers get to visit the creative team behind Breaking Bad. Join Emmy-winner Bryan Cranston, Vince Gilligan, and the entire writing team as they divulge how they created the stories for a show that was recently named one of the best written TV series of all time.
Get all the inside info tonight on Sundance Channel at 10/9c.
I’ll also be watching/recording Get Out Alive with Bear Grylls, Siberia, Switched at Birth, Major Crimes, King & Maxwell, The Glades, and Teen Wolf.
