If We Controlled Your Remote… 8/4/13

It’s Sunday, and I’m planning on enjoying what’s left of the weekend. That includes some great TV tonight. Megan’s busy with some family stuff, and JJ needed to get caught up on TV, so it’s just Kyle & me here to tell you our recommendations. Enjoy! 😉

unforgettable84smallLast week’s premiere of Unforgettable was really great. I hadn’t realized how much I’d missed Carrie & Al until I started watching. It did have a slightly different feel to it because of the cast changes, but I didn’t feel like the show was necessarily missing too much. They brought in the new cast in the Major Crimes squad—which was really decked out in a pretty awesome way, I have to say. It took me a bit, but by the end of the episode, I really liked their new boss. His voice and the way he speaks is hard to get used to, but I really like the character. Some of the new co-workers, I’m not sure about yet, but others, I already like. Plus, the ME is there, which is fantastic. So overall, I’m excited to have it back. I hope we get to see more about Carrie & Al’s current personal relationship. Are they dating again? Still just…friends but both would be good with more? The case last week was great, too—my husband totally called it with the hostage negotiator being behind the current kidnapping case.

On tonight’s episode, “Incognito,” Carrie goes undercover with a team of bank robbers when the Major Crimes squad gets a lead on the gang’s leader, a notorious thief who rarely shows his face. Sendhil Ramamurthy (Covert Affairs, Heroes) guest stars.

Find out how Carrie going undercover with bank robbers works tonight on CBS at 9/8c.

fallingskies84smallTonight, the third season of Falling Skies comes to a close. Last week, Tom returned to Charleston and told Weaver that they should attack the Boston tower, as that is where Karen is. Meanwhile, Lourdes secretly planted bombs around the base and set them off, causing the hospital to collapse, killing all of the Volm and wounding Cochise. As the folks above ground started a search and rescue mission, Lourdes attempted to finish the job and kill Cochise, but Tom figured out she was the mole just in time to stop her.

Will be finally find out that Anne and Lexi are still alive? Will the 2nd Mass be able to use their alien weapon to take out the Espheni base? Will they finally kill Karen? Will they be able to fix Lourdes—is it just a bug that is controlling her? I can’t wait for tonight’s action-packed finale—and to see what kind of cliffhanger they leave us with for the upcoming fourth season!

On tonight’s episode, “Brazil,” the 2nd Mass destroys an all-important base, and the remaining survivors’ fate is put in doubt when additional interstellar figures arrive.

To see if our questions get answered, tune in to TNT at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Big Brother, Whodunnit?, Food Network Star, Drop Dead Diva, Devious Maids, True Blood, The Newsroom, Dexter, and Ray Donovan.

foodnetworkstar2013smallI couldn’t get away with not talking about Food Network Star. Last week cemented to me that a woman absolutely HAS to win this year. The two guys that are left just completely drive me nuts. Their presentations are irritating and annoying, they aren’t consistent, and while they seem like nice guys (& I enjoyed Rodney when I saw him previously on Food Network), I don’t think I’d watch either of their shows. I didn’t think Nikki should have been the one to go home last week. She has the skills, but unfortunately, her lack of ability to translate those into words and sound like she’s got enough food knowledge or authority sent her home. I’m still rooting for Stacey. I like Damaris, and last week was a good week for her, but I’d rather watch Stacey’s show than Damaris’s. Of course, if Food Network is looking into replacing Paula Deen (*huff* That’s a whole different story that I won’t comment on, aside from to say I think they made a bad decision firing her.), Damaris is a Southern girl. So who knows…

On tonight’s episode, “Network Pitch,” the four remaining competitotrs prepare their television show concepts for Food Network executives Bob Tuschman and Susie Fogelson, and after reviewing the submitted ideas, they select three contestants to develop pilots with Guy Fieri.

Find out who gets sent packing and who we get to see pilots from tonight on Food Network at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Food Court Wars, Whodunnit?, Brother vs Brother, & The Shed.
