If We Controlled Your Remote… 8/19/13

Hi-ho, hi-ho, it’s off to work we go! (Well, for some of us. LOL Some of us—like me!—work from home. Yay. 😉 ) It’s Monday, which means back to work and school for most people, but it also means some good TV, so Megan, Kyle, & I are here to give you our recommendations on what you should be watching. 😀

Jenny’s Choice #1

majorcrimes819smallMajor Crimes has been great this season. I love the team, I’ve grown to love Sharon Raydor, and I love all the dynamics. The Rusty story lines are some of my favorites. Last week, he told Kris that being close to him would put her in danger, and she ran out of the squad room in tears. Is Rusty gay? Or is he just scared about starting a relationship because of his history? I don’t know. It doesn’t matter. It’s heartbreaking either way. And he’s been lying to Sharon and the others about how many threats he’s gotten, for fear that Creepy Emma will put him in witness protection (or something to that effect). I wonder if we’ll see any sort of resolution to that in tonight’s summer finale…

On tonight’s episode, “Poster Boy,” the team works strategically to capture a spree killer who has put everyone on high alert. Trying to solve the case quickly, Raydor is torn between two seemingly right decisions, each of which comes with major consequences. Meanwhile, Rusty is given some extra freedom, but more threats leave him afraid to stray far from home.

Watch a marathon of the first ten episodes today on TNT starting at 11AM/10AMc, followed by the summer finale at 9/8c.

dinerssmallTonight is the season finale of one of my favorite Food Nextwork shows: Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. Guy Fieri is one of the most entertaining chefs I’ve ever watched, and at times, I wish I had his job—who wouldn’t want to taste all that yummy food? This is one of the shows that my stepson and I watch together, and then he asks me to make something like we saw on the show. I’m good, but I’m not that good. 🙂

On tonight’s finale, “That’s Fresh,” in San Francisco, a totally gluten-free menu of Venezuelan standbys, like arepas and empanadas; in Portland, homemade meats, like Italian red wine dry cured salami and roasted garlic and rosemary bologna.

To see the yummy food and watch the always fun Guy, tune in to Food Network at 9:30/8:30c.

I’ll also be watching Teen Wolf, Mistresses, & Breaking Pointe.

switchedatbirth2013smallTonight, the second season of Switched at Birth comes to a close. Last week, it was time for Toby and Nikki’s bachelor and bachelorette parties. However Toby’s didn’t start off that great, as he received a call from Simone, telling him that she had an STD. So he and Emmett both spent the night getting tested. Meanwhile, Bay failed to get Ty discharged; things heated up between Angelo and Regina as they fell back into old habits; and Travis and Mary Beth finally kissed. Also, Nikki’s mother and the Kennishes agreed that the wedding between their children was a mistake; and Daphne was caught on surveillance tape breaking into her boss’s office.

This has been another great season, and I’m looking forward to tonight’s season finale. Will the wedding go off WITH a hitch? How will Daphne’s boss use this video to turn the tables on Daphne—who had been blackmailing him? What will happen between Bay and Ty now that he will be shipping off again? With a third season on the way, we’re likely to get some answers, but also a few more questions by the end of the night!

On tonight’s episode, “Departure of Summer,” Toby prepares for his wedding, and his parents contemplate being truthful with him. Meanwhile, Bay seeks a long-distance romance with Ty in the face of his redeployment; and Daphne is forced to own up to her mistakes.

I’ll also be recording/watching Under the Dome, Get Out Alive with Bear Grylls, Siberia, Major Crimes, The Glades, Summer Camp, Teen Wolf, and Delete.

theglades2013smallLast week’s The Glades kept me guessing the entire time about who the killer was and why the victim was killed. I waffled back and forth between potential killers until Jim finally solved it. It’s not often that I truly have no idea, but last week stumped me. It was a heartbreaking reason why the estranged wife killed her husband—that he accidently killed her brother when they were serving in the military. Then, we found out right at the end that Ray ran off from his home, where he had a new identity through WitSec. Will he be heading back to Callie and Jeff? Will he put them in danger like that? Surely not, but I have a feeling that’s exactly where he was headed. *sigh*

On tonight’s episode, “Happy Trails,” Jim gets roped into a long-standing family feud between Florida ranchers when a ranch hand turns up dead between the two family’s properties. Someone from Callie’s past visits her pleading for help at the worst possible time.

Find out who visits Callie tonight on A&E at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing American Ninja Warrior, Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, Longmire, Restaurant Takeover, The Shed, & Bubba-Q.
