If We Controlled Your Remote… 8/26/13

It’s Monday, and I’m very sad to see the weekend end. It seems like it flew by—although, when does it ever not feel that way? We do only have a week until the Labor Day holiday here in the U.S., which is great for most everybody, and it’s especially great for me, as my husband’s taking two days off work to give him a five-day weekend. Yippee! But that’s a week away. To console ourselves that we still have to wait a week, check out what we recommend on TV tonight! 🙂

theglades826smallI’m so worried about how tonight’s season finale of The Glades is going to go. Last week was a good episode—and like Jim, I volleyed back and forth multiple times about who I thought was the killer and why. In the end, I liked how the case itself was wrapped up. But Jim and Callie are both keeping a secret from one another, and I don’t like that. Callie’s…meh. Hers isn’t a huge deal. So she patched up an old friend’s husband. Sure, the guy had gotten hurt while doing something illegal, but Callie tried not to get involved. And when the friend called and said something was wrong, Callie forced them to go to the hospital with her, knowing she couldn’t save him. And then, she did the right thing and called the cops, pleading to her friend to step back from her husband and his life of crime like she had. So I don’t think Jim would have a big problem with it. But Jim, on the other hand… *sigh* He’s keeping a HUGE secret from Callie—and Jeff, as far as we know—and that secret is not only dangerous physically, but it could be a relationship-ender. The fact that he knew Ray and Jeff were talking on the sly, the fact that he learned about Ray’s possibly leaving WitSec—and then Ray actually disappearing from WitSec—and he didn’t tell her? I love the character, but damn. I’m not sure Callie will ever be able to forgive or trust him again, even if he’s doing it to keep her safe and happy. I guess we’ll see how it ends up tonight! (Or not. Who knows with shows and what they wrap up and don’t wrap up in finales anymore!)

On tonight’s episode, “Tin Cup,” when the murder of a golf hustler shakes up a golf course, Jim and the team are called in to investigate the death and find the killer, which causes problems for Jim while he continues to try to tie up loose ends for Callie and his future.

Find out if secrets come back to haunt Jim tonight on A&E at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing American Ninja Warrior, Diners, Drive-ins & Dives, Longmire, & The Shed.

dinerssmallLast week, I wrote about the season finale of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, but someone has chosen to bless me with a new season premiere of the series tonight. Such luck! There’s something about watching Guy Fieri go to all these small little places that are just overflowing with dishes that are hidden gems.

On tonight’s season premiere, “Neighborhood Knockouts,” in San Diego, an all-day breakfast spot serving creme brule French toast; in Portland, corned beef hash and chipped beef; in San Francisco, lamb merquez dog.

To drool over some yummy dishes, tune in to Food Network at 9:30/8:30c.

I’ll also be watching Get Out Alive with Bear Grylls, Mistresses, and American Ninja Warrior.

getoutalivesmallTonight, the first season of Get Out Alive with Bear Grylls comes to a close. Last week, it was down to the final four teams. The contestants were flown by helicopter and dropped off at the top of a glacier. They had to make their way down the ice, retrieve their food from a crevasse, and build their shelter in the snow. While Lucky & Louie failed at building the shelter, they managed to win the survival challenge and got immunity. In the end, Bear eliminated Ryan and Madeline due to Madeline’s panic attack on the helicopter.

Tonight, either Austin & Jim, Chris & Jeff, or Louie & Lucky will take home the prize. I’m hoping it’s father/son team, Jim & Austin, who take the prize, as I’ve been rooting for them the whole season—though had they not won a few survival challenges, I think they would have already been gone. Unfortunately, I suspect that Chris and Jeff will end up winning due to Jeff overcoming his leg injuries to make it through this adventure.

On tonight’s episode, “No Guts, No Glory,” Bear Grylls chooses a winning team, but first, the remaining three pairs test their limits in a rain forest during a torrential downpour.

Note: If you’re a fan of the show (or just a fan of the outdoors), I’m hosting a giveaway for an official Bear Grylls Survival Bracelet at NoReruns.net, and today’s the final day to enter: NoReruns.net Giveaway

Check out the season finale and see who wins tonight on NBC at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Under the Dome, Siberia, The Glades, and Rewind.
