Welcome to a new week of TV! It’s kind of an odd mix of TV this week, with a good number of finales and premieres both, although most of the premieres are relatively insignificant cable shows. We’re winding down the summer season in preparation for fall, so it’s to be expected. So check it out to see how your week of TV’s gonna go. 🙂

Tonight is the series premiere of Last Tango in Halifax on PBS at 8/7c. The show is an uplifting comedy/drama about romance and second chances. Full of zesty humor, authentic characters and glorious dialogue, it’s about timeless love in a very modern setting.
 
Tonight is also the series premiere of Miami Monkey on VH1 at 10/9c. Mob Wives resident party girl Big Ang heads to the sizzling south to make her mark on the Miami party scene by opening up the second outpost of her infamous Staten Island bar, The Drunken Monkey. To ensure the success of “Miami Monkey” as the newest South Beach hotspot, Ang enlists the help of a crew of Staten Island beauties and SoBe hotties to come along for the ride. The heat is on when fiery New York personalities and sexy South Beach locals work side by side to launch a new business. Will Ang’s dreams of success in the Sunshine State come true? Or will she return to Staten Island disappointed and broke?

Tonight is the series premiere of The Million Second Quiz on NBC at 8/7c. Hosted by Ryan Seacrest, the show is a state-of-the-art, electrifying new live competition, where contestants test the limits of their knowledge, nerve, and endurance as they battle each other in intense head-to-head bouts of trivia for 12 consecutive days and nights. When the million second draw to a close, the champions will compete in a grand finale, and the ultimate winner will claim the largest prize in game show history. The competition, where time equals money, will air in primetime, LIVE from a three-story hourglass-shaped structure in the heart of Manhattan. Money is accumulated by sitting in the “Money Chair” and answering trivia questions against a rival. For each second a player remains in the chair, the money meter will add $10 to the total. The longer a contestant stays in the chair, the more money is added until he/she is defeated by a challenger. During the million seconds, the top four players who have accumulated the largest amounts of money up to that point in the game will live next to the hourglass in “Winners’ Row” and try to survive there until the million seconds are up. Other contestants will displace them if they achieve longer runs in the money chair. When the countdown clock hits zero only the four contestants, who have made it to the end, plus the final occupier of the money chair, cash in their winnings and battle it out for the grand prize. The show will be the first fully convergent television experience, where viewers from all across America will be able to play along in sync with the game during primetime and get a chance to be chosen live on air as a contestant for the following night’s primetime show.
