If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/15/13

Can you feel it? That tingle of excitment… That’s right! It’s the first week of new fall shows!!! *happy dance* Tonight kicks off the new week, but tomorrow night really nails it home, so let’s see what’s on tonight so we can get to this fall buffet of TV.

Megan’s Choice

rvgkidssmallRachael Ray and Guy Fieri are so fantastic on their own shows, but put them together on the same cooking show and add kids that can cook—I’m sold! Rachael vs. Guy: Kids Cook-Off premiered last week, and it was such a fun episode. Those kids are all very talented, but also freaking adorable. My favorite so far is Hunter, because he is just so adorable, and I love that he could rock cooking the venison. I’m looking forward to tonight’s episode and seeing how much better they get in the kitchen.

On tonight’s episode, “Brunch Time,” the chefs embark on a battle of the brunches; special guest Marion Ross (Happy Days) judges the Cook-Off.

To see how the kids do with brunch foods, tune in to Food Network at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching The Great Food Truck Race, Cutthroat Kitchen, Iron Chef America, and Ray Donovan.

ironchefamericasmallI almost always enjoy Iron Chef America—much more so if it’s one of the chefs I actually like. It’s fun seeing what secret ingredient and twist the chairman throws at the contestants. I love watching to find out how inventive the chefs are with both. Tonight should be a very fun episode, and slightly different than a normal ICA ep, too…with the Iron Chef as a sous chef and two huge names in the food world battling it out.

On tonight’s episode, “Forgione vs Waxman,” Iron Chef Marc Forgione plays the role of sous chef to his father, Larry Forgione, as the two take on culinary legend and close family friend chef Jonathan Waxman.

Find out which chef prevails tonight on Food Network at 11/10c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Rachael vs. Guy: Kids Cook-Off, The Great Food Truck Race, & Cutthroat Kitchen.

breakingbad915smallIt’s Sunday, and that means another tense episode of Breaking Bad! Last week was crazy—Jesse called Mr. White and threatened to burn all of his money unless he met him at the location where it was buried. As Walter sped across the desert, emotionally pleading with Jesse not to burn the money, he mentioned all of the crimes he’d committed to protect Jesse. What Walt didn’t realize until he got to the location was that it was all a ruse—Jesse was working with Hank, and they had tricked him into leading the FBI to his money and admitting to his crimes. Hank handcuffed Walter and put him in the back seat of the car. However, Todd’s uncle and his men showed up heavily armed—Walt had originally arranged for them to meet him at the rendezvous to kill Jesse, but had tried to call it off. A huge gunfight broke between Hank and Gomez and this redneck army.

I’m guessing Gomez’s odds of making it out alive are slim to none. I’m not sure how he has not died already—Hank and Gomez have handguns, while Todd’s uncle’s gang has semi-automatic weapons—they must be terrible shots! Will Walter somehow get away, or will Hank finally bring him in? Will Hank even make it out alive, or will Marie go rogue and get revenge? And will Walt Junior finally learn the truth about what’s going on? I can’t wait to see what happens tonight!

On tonight’s episode, “Ozymandias,” everyone copes with radically changed circumstances.

Find out who makes it out of the conflict alive tonight on AMC at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Big Brother, Rachael vs. Guy: Kids Cook-Off, The Great Food Truck Race, Cutthroat Kitchen, Talking Bad, The Newsroom, Dexter, and Ray Donovan.

thenewsroom915smallTonight, the second season finale of The Newsroom is upon us, and although no official word is out, there are rumors that a third season will be coming along. Last week was the first of a two-parter covering Election Night 2012. The continuity with this season was great, with Jim trying to cover for his mistake, Will appointing himself Director of Morale, and Mackenzie trying to get herself fired by hurting Will (since Will is the only one that can fire her). But I don’t feel that her “getting fired” will stick, but we’ll see.

On tonight’s episode, “Election Night, Part 2,” Will and Charlie await a decision from Reese about their future at ACN, Sloan learns the identity of the anonymous winning bidder for her book, and Don discusses a countersuit against Jerry with Rebecca. Meanwhile, Neal returns to Hallie for help giving Mac a parting gift and Jim tries to make peace with Lisa, encouraging Maggie to do the same.

Find out how the season ends on HBO at 10/9c.
