If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/17/13

Over the weekend, my DVR decided to lose its mind and crash—I lost everything! Good news is that the fall season hadn’t started yet, so I didn’t lose any of the new shows. *phew* Very good news is that tonight, we are being spoiled by a few new shows, as well as a few season premieres. I am stoked. How about you? Let’s see what we’re all watching!

newgirl917smallTonight, New Girl returns to help us giggle the night away, and I couldn’t be happier. I am anxious to see how Nick and Jess are doing in the new season, because when we left them last season, they had decided to continue to date, even though they didn’t know where it was going. Cece decided not to get married and told Schimdt he was the one for her. It was a romantic episode, but still quite funny. I am looking forward to a whole new season full of quirky humor and amusing relationship issues.

On tonight’s premiere, “All In,” when Nick and Jess head to a Mexican beach town, Nick runs into trouble with the authorities; Schmidt must choose between Elizabeth and Cece; Winston becomes obsessed with finishing a puzzle.

To see where our favorites are this season, tune in to FOX at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Dads, Capture, The Million Second Quiz, and The Mindy Project.

brooklyn99917smallMy pick tonight is the series premiere of Brooklyn Nine-Nine. I REALLY loved this pilot. I’ve never seen Andy Samberg in anything—at least, not to my knowledge—so I didn’t have a ton of expectation about him going in like some others did. But I REALLY love Andre Braugher—I have since Homicide—so I knew I’d have to at least give it a chance. Samberg stars as a goof-off police detective who is as good a detective as he is a “class clown.” His squad gets a new captain—Braugher—who is much more straight-laced than Samberg’s character. The cast is great and has a great chemistry, and I can’t wait to see more.

On tonight’s episode, “Pilot,” Detective Jake Peralta is a talented, but carefree police detective at Brooklyn’s 99th precinct who, along with his eclectic group of colleagues, are used to having a lax captain around the office. However, when tightly-wound Captain Ray Holt takes over, he is determined to make this dysfunctional group of detectives into the best precinct in Brooklyn.

See if this new comedy is for you tonight on FOX at 8:30/7:30c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Dads, Whose Line is it Anyway?, 19 Kids & Counting, America’s Got Talent, Capture, Covert Affairs, Chopped, Cold Justice, & The Little Couple.

Kyle’s Choice

themindyproject917smallTonight, The Mindy Project returns for the start of its second season. When we last saw the gang, Mindy had chopped off her hair and headed off to do charity work in Haiti with her boyfriend, Reverend Casey. Meanwhile, once he realized things weren’t going to happen between him and Mindy, Danny got back together with his ex-wife. So what will happen to the practice now that Mindy is gone? Will she and Danny ever get together (I like the reverend, so I’m fine if they don’t!)? And how long do we need to wait to see that awful haircut grow out?!

I’ve seen tonight’s premiere, as well as next week’s episode, and I have to say this show is better than ever in its second season. It’s even more fun and outrageous than last year, and I’m really looking forward to the rest of the season.

On tonight’s episode, “All My Problems Solved Forever,” the second season begins with Mindy being rushed back to New York from Haiti after falling ill, only to find that Schulman & Associates has hired a dashing new ob-gyn (James Franco) who also happens to be a formal model and a sex therapist with advice for Danny and Christina.

Check out the start of a great new season tonight on FOX at 9:30/8:30c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Brooklyn Nine-Nine, New Girl, Capture, Sons of Anarchy, Chopped, Covert Affairs, Suits, Face Off, and Heroes of Cosplay.
