TGIF! It’s been kind of a long week for everyone, I think, and it was only tempered by a few premieres. (The big push on premieres is next week. Wow!) But tonight, there are a couple more premieres, and I couldn’t be more excited. So Kyle & I are here to tell you what we recommend. 😉
Jenny’s Choice
It may not be the critics’ popular choice for comedy, but I’ve loved Last Man Standing since episode one. So I’m thrilled that tonight is the third season premiere. In last season’s finale, party girl Mandy got accepted to two colleges, much to everyone’s surprise, and of course chose a party school. When Kristin heard that Mandy had gotten the acceptance letters, she decided it was time to change her life—she may have been a teenage mother, but she didn’t want to be a waitress and live with her parents for the rest of her life. So she and Boyd moved out, and she’s reevaluating where she wants to go next. Meanwhile, Eve was practicing for her Junior ROTC competition.
On tonight’s episode, “Back to School,” Mike finds that Mandy’s steady boyfriend Kyle’s new interest in philosophy is distracting him from his work at The Outdoor Man Store. A solution may be in the offing when camo-wearing and regular customers Brody and Uncle Ray come to the sporting goods store to get outfitted for their annual moose hunting expedition. Meanwhile, Mike is skeptical about his grandson Boyd attending a bilingual school and wants Kristin and Ryan to switch Boyd to a school in his neighborhood. Willie Robertson & Si Robertson (Duck Dynasty) guest star.
To see the Duck Dynasty boys in action with Tim Allen, tune in to ABC at 8/7c.
I’ll also be watching The Neighbors.

Kyle’s Choice
Tonight, my favorite new ABC comedy from last year, The Neighbors, moves to Fridays, as it kicks off its second season. In last year’s finale, Larry and Jackie’s Earth wedding was interrupted when Dick called to say his grandfather (George Takei) was coming to Earth. Meanwhile, Reggie finally told Amber about his feeling for her, and she reciprocated. As all of the Zabvronians prepared to head back home, Larry and Jackie took a stand, telling the Supreme Zabvronian they wanted to stay on Earth for another 6 or 7 years. (Let’s hope!) Larry’s father left, saying he would return, and also sent a warning to Larry via the toaster. However, Marty ate the “‘Warning, Attack Imminent”-imprinted toast before anyone read it.
What is this attack that’s coming, and will it occur this season? Whatever it is, I’m sure it will be entertaining! While the pilot was initially panned by many critics last year, it was great to see so many of them come around to realize how much fun this show is! I love the relationship between the Weavers and the Bird-Kersees, as well as all the humorous situations with the aliens trying to acclimate themselves to Earth culture. Last season had some really great moments and a perfect musical episode. (Who does that in their first season?!) I can’t wait to see what happens this season!
On tonight’s episode, “Family Conference,” Amber and Reggie break the news of their romance to their families, who convene for a conference in the Bird-Kersee basement to put the relationship up to a vote, the outcome of which may depend on an emotional speech by Abby.
Find out if Season 2 gets off to a funny start tonight on ABC at 8:30/7:30c.
I’ll also be watching/recording Haven and Strike Back.
