If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/23/13

Excited does not begin to explain my happiness at the new season of television beginning. I am overjoyed! Tonight is the beginning of a great week, so let’s take a gander at it, shall we?

2brokegirls923small2 Broke Girls is a show that’s full of politically incorrect jokes and hilarious situations that make for an amazing show. I love this show, despite how many people think it’s controversial. That’s okay. Controversy is exceptionally funny to watch at times. Kat Dennings is adorable, and her comedic timing is perfection. Last season, we watched the girls try to build their cupcake business, then fail and then try again. I’m looking forward to season three a ton, and you should be too!

On tonight’s season premiere, “And the Soft Opening,” the gals see an upward spike in business, thanks to a shocking incident involving a rock star.

To find out what happened with the rock star, tune in to CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching (deep breath, it’s a long list) Mom, Hostages, Dancing with the Stars, The Voice, The Blacklist, Bones, Sleepy Hollow, and How I Met Your Mother.

bones923smallI was so pleased with last week’s Bones premiere. For most of the episode, Booth and Bones were at odds, after last season finale’s Pelant-forced engagement breaker. After talking with Cam and then Booth’s ex-priest/current bartender friend, Bones realized she trusted Booth and she needs to continue to do that. Once she came to that conclusion, things eased considerably between the pair. They have a long ways to go, but I’m not as worried about Bones regressing to pre-in love Brennan. As for the case, it was decidedly gross (my fave part had to be turning the fan on to blow out the…gunk!), and we got to meet an old buddy of Booth’s, who now works for the CIA. He sort of made Booth a job offer, and while I don’t think Booth will take him up on it, I do think he HAS to come into play about catching/finding/killing Pelant. Don’t you think?!

I’ve seen tonight’s episode, and it’s truly fun and adorable. I always love the Booth/Bones undercover eps, and it was good to see Tony & Roxie back!

On tonight’s episode, “The Cheat in the Retreat,” the Jeffersonian team investigates the murder of a management consultant whose remains were found being eaten by a bobcat. When evidence leads the team to a marriage retreat site, Brennan and Booth go undercover as previous personas “Roxie” and “Tony” to try to find more evidence. John Ratzenberger & Millicent Martin guest star.

Enjoy the undercover assignment tonight on FOX at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing How I Met Your Mother, 2 Broke Girls, Sleepy Hollow, Mom, The Blacklist, & Castle.

hostagespilotsmallTonight, CBS kicks off the exciting new drama Hostages, which finds a surgeon (Toni Collette) to the president caught in a deadly cat-and-mouse game with a rogue FBI agent (Dylan McDermott). I really enjoyed tonight’s tense, action-packed premiere. It sets up the titular hostage situation, introduces those involved—each of whom has his or her own hidden secrets—as well as an interesting, larger conspiracy that will be explored throughout the season. Mondays at 10pm are going to be a packed night, with Castle and The Blacklist also on at 10pm!

On tonight’s episode, “Pilot,” Dr. Ellen Sanders is selected to operate on the U.S. president, but armed intruders take her family hostage and demand that she kill him during surgery, or they will murder her family.

See how the doctor handles the pressure tonight on CBS at 10:01/9:01c.

I’ll also be watching/recording How I Met Your Mother, 2 Broke Girls, Mom, Castle, The Blacklist, Bones, and Sleepy Hollow.

castle923smallFinally, Castle returns tonight, and with it, probably my favorite couple: Caskett. I was late to joining the Castle-party but I jumped in last summer with all the previously aired seasons, and last season was great! I love the chemistry between Castle and Beckett, the complete supporting cast is great, and the balance between case-of-the-week, season-long mystery/overarching story, and the evolution of the relationship is great (which is where Bones lost me during season 3, for instance—no offense meant those those who still love the show, of course).

Last season ended with Beckett getting a job offer at the FBI and her pursuing that option while not telling Castle about it. Things got a little tense when Castle found out about the offer, but he ended proposing to her at the swings. Now, tonight, we’ll get to see how this question gets answered and what happens with the job offer Becket got. And it’s impossible to anticipate what will happen. The romantic in me wants her to stay and marry Castle, but that would be too easy, I’m afraid. But this is also what I love, that no matter what the outcome, I trust the writers to do whats best for the show and that they will reach a satisfying conclusion either or any way.

On tonight’s episode, “Valkyrie,” Castle and Beckett will have to deal with the consequences of their decisions while conducting a high-stakes investigation. This also begins an arc with Lisa Edelstein (from House) as recurring guest star!

Find out what happens on ABC at 10:01/9:01c.

I’ll also be watching Dancing with the Stars and 2 Broke Girls.
