Welcome to a new week of TV! It’s another busy week, but not nearly as much shows are premiering, which is a good thing! LOL We’ve had the first cancelation (Lucky 7), the first extra episode order (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), the first full-season order (The Blacklist), and the first renewals (The Simpsons & crazy enough…Sleepy Hollow!). So the fall season is in full swing.

Tonight is also the 2-hour series premiere of The Paradise on PBS at 9/8c. This adaptation of Emile Zola’s beloved French novel is a rags-to-riches story of a young woman seduced by the dangerous charms of the modern world set against the Victorian splendor of a British department store.
Tonight is also the series premiere of Alaskan Women Looking for Love on TLC at 10/9c. Six native Alaskan women tempt fate to find true love. As these ladies say, when it comes to dating on the island of Kodiak, Alaska, “the odds are good, but the goods can be a little odd.” Faced with men consumed by fishing and hunting, often sporting long hair and scruffy beards, these women are fed up with their options. Ready to exchange their rugged boots for high heels and fancy dates, these ladies leave the safety and security of their homes and journey 5,000 miles to the Sunshine State, in search of adventure and their perfect match. In this six-part series, viewers will follow these friends as they make a splash in sexy, sun-soaked – and culturally-opposite – Miami Beach, where they hope love awaits. Determined, the women get jobs, scour the beaches and risk everything to fit in and find suitors – but they quickly discover that they are fish out of water. From firefighters and football players to personal trainers and cops, will they have success meeting the man of their dreams? Or is Miami Beach too big for them to handle? And if they do find love, can their new guys manage the rough and tough Alaskan lifestyle or will finding their Prince Charming only be a fairytale?
Tonight is also the series premiere of Witches of East End on Lifetime at 10/9c. Lifetime’s newest drama features an all-star cast headlined by Emmy Award-winner Julia Ormond (Mad Men), Mädchen Amick (Mad Men, Damages), Jenna Dewan Tatum (American Horror Story), and Rachel Boston (In Plain Sight) as a family of witches living in the secluded seaside town of East Haven. Also set to star are Eric Winter (The Mentalist), Daniel DiTomasso (CSI), Jason George (Grey’s Anatomy), and Oscar and Golden Globe Award nominee Virginia Madsen (Sideways, Anna Nicole). Inspired by Melissa de la Cruz’s New York Times best-selling novel, the show centers on the mysterious Beauchamp family: free-spirited artist Joanna (Ormond) and her two grown daughters, wild-child bartender Freya (Dewan Tatum) and shy librarian Ingrid (Boston), both of whom are unaware that they are gifted (and cursed) with a magical birthright. Freya is recently engaged to the man of her dreams, wealthy playboy Dash Gardiner (Winter), but when she finds herself inexplicably drawn to Dash’s troubled, enigmatic brother Killian (DiTomasso), bizarre occurrences begin to manifest in her life. Meanwhile, Joanna’s long-estranged sister Wendy (Amick) shows up with a warning that could change the Beauchamps’ fate forever, forcing Joanna to reveal to her daughters that they are, indeed, immortal witches who possess great untapped powers. With their idyllic small-town life now turned upside down, and a formidable and ancient enemy intent on ending the Beauchamp family line, will Freya and Ingrid be able to accept their true potential before it is too late?
Finally, tonight is the series premiere of The People’s Couch on Bravo at 11:30/10:30c. Based on the successful UK show, Gogglebox, this is a new three-episode, limited series that features real people watching and commenting on popular shows and news from the past week. Bravo will deliver the buzziest water-cooler moments of the Fall television season by showcasing avid TV watchers in their homes, as they laugh, cry, talk, gasp, and scream at their TVs. Each episode will feature the same homes as they watch and react to this season’s most talked-about new and returning series. Whether it is a group of sorority sisters doing their nails or grandparents watching with their technology-obsessed grandchildren, each group will bring their hilarious, unique commentary about TV’s hottest moments to the small screen.

Tonight is also the series premiere of The Tomorrow People on The CW at 9/8c. They are the next evolutionary leap of mankind, a generation of humans born with paranormal abilities – the Tomorrow People. Stephen Jameson stands at the crossroads between the world we know and the shifting world of the future. Up until a year ago, Stephen was a “normal” teenager – until he began hearing voices and teleporting in his sleep, never knowing where he might wake up. Now, Stephen’s issues have gone far beyond the usual teenage angst, and he is beginning to question his sanity. In desperation, Stephen decides to listen to one of the voices in his head, and it leads him to his first encounter with the Tomorrow People – John, Cara and Russell – a genetically advanced race with the abilities of telekinesis, teleportation and telepathic communication. The Tomorrow People are being hunted down by a paramilitary group of scientists known as Ultra. Led by Dr. Jedikiah Price, Ultra sees the Tomorrow People as a very real existential threat from a rival species, and the outcast group has been forced to hide out in an abandoned subway station just beneath the surface of the human world. Trading in secrets, Jedikiah offers Stephen the chance for a normal life with his family and best friend, Astrid, if he will help in the struggle to isolate and eradicate the Tomorrow People. On the other hand, Cara, John and Russell offer Stephen a different type of family and a home where he truly belongs. Unwilling to turn his back on humanity or the world of the Tomorrow People, Stephen sets out on his own path – a journey that could take him into the shadowy past to uncover the truth about his father’s mysterious disappearance, or into an unknown future with the Tomorrow People. The series stars Robbie Amell (Revenge) as Stephen, Luke Mitchell (H20: Just Add Water) as John, Peyton List (Mad Men) as Cara, Aaron Yoo (Disturbia, Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist) as Russell, Mark Pellegrino (Lost, Supernatural) as Dr. Jedikiah Price, and Madeleine Mantock as Astrid.
Tonight is also the series premiere of Big Tips Texas on MTV at 10/9c, followed by a 2nd new episode at 10:30/9:30c. The show documents the lives of a group of fun-loving girlfriends serving up southern hospitality at a popular Texas watering hole while hoping to make their dreams a reality. The eclectic group of women includes four veterans and six new girls. Sabrina, a gifted student working to save money to go back to college and eventually Harvard Law School; Amber the girl who knows her way around the bar but comes at odds with the other staff; Typhani, the boss; and Claire, the bar’s top bartender, are amongst those who have earned their stripes. The newbies include Kristyn, an ambitious waitress who has dreams of climbing the establishment’s corporate ladder and starting her own clothing line; Morgan, a rodeo princess; Mimi, one of the new girls who ruffles a few feathers; Jillian, the Chicago transplant; Macy, the biggest little Texan of them all; and Mercedez, known as the sassy southern server. United by the bonds of sisterhood, these women’s lives are loaded with tons of comedy, drama and heart. They fight, make up and love like sisters all while working their way towards adulthood one crazy shift at a time. Whether they’re spending their free time on Lake Lewisville, planning their futures or getting dirty on the ranch, they’re living it up and letting loose every day. Throughout every episode, viewers will watch the cast’s friendships evolve while they work and party their way through the drama and adventure of figuring out who they are and where they’re going.
Tonight is also the series premiere of Preachers of L.A. on Oxygen at 10/9c. The show gives viewers a candid and revealing look at six boldly different, world-renowned mega-pastors in Southern California – Bishop Noel Jones, Minister Deitrick Haddon, Bishop Clarence McClendon, Pastor Jay Haizlip, Pastor Wayne Chaney, and Bishop Ron Gibson. These men of God will share diverse aspects of their dynamic lives, from their work in the community and with their parishioners to the very large and captivating lives they lead away from the pulpit. While “Preachers of L.A.” documents these pastors’ lifestyles, the series also focuses on the daily struggles and triumphs they face as men, husbands, fathers, brothers and friends. Viewers will also get to know the strong women who stand behind these church leaders, and often work just as hard to balance their lives in the spotlight with their commitment to family.

Hi, shouldn’t there be The Biggest Loser premiere on Tuesday? Also, I’m not sure about The Originals, I think the premiere was on Thursday, but now it should be on Tuesday with Supernatural.
Thanks for your answer! (I’m building my schedule and I don’t live in USA, so your “This Week on TV” is a treasure for me 🙂 )
Thanks. 🙂
Looks like The Biggest Loser is premiering 10/19. And yes, The Originals is on Tuesday. Oops. LOL Thanks. 🙂 Moving it now.
I also don’t live in the US and rely pretty much solely on you guys to keep me updated. You guys do a great job and I am so fortunate to have a good source of all TV goodies for the week. Its my homepage on my browser!! Great job and keep up the good work…
Thank you so much! That means a lot. 🙂
When is the App coming???
By the App, I’m assuming you mean The Apprentice/Celebrity Apprentice? If so, then no one knows. It’s on hiatus right now after the season ended in May, and it has yet to be renewed or canceled.
If you mean something other than that, you’re going to have to clarify. 🙂
