If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/6/13

Yesterday was so strange. I woke up at 6:30 Saturday morning for some reason, and by 2:30 in the afternoon, I was already ready for bed. It felt like 7:00. Then after dinner, while catching up on TV, I looked up at the clock, expecting it to be my kid’s bedtime, when in fact, it was only 8:15. What that has to do with the price of tea in China, I have no idea. I just know we’re halfway through the weekend, and I’ve done almost nothing. *laugh* On that note, let’s see what I can curl up and watch tonight when I think it’s Wednesday at 3:00 in the morning. 😉

choppedsmallIt’s a Food Network night for me tonight—and a Halloween theme, at that! First up is a special episode of Chopped. I love this show because you never know what the chefs are going to reveal when they open the mystery boxes.

On tonight’s Chopped episode, “Extreme Halloween,” the first round basket contains eel and a bloody protein; the second round chefs face something gooey and gory.

halloweenwars106smallMy second Food Network pick is the season premiere of Halloween Wars. This show features teams comprised of a pumpkin carver, cake artist, & candy craftsman. They create heart-stopping Halloween-themed displays that simply make my jaw drop. Each week, one team is eliminated, until the last team standing wins the $50,000 grand prize. This season’s guest judges include author Charlaine Harris (Sookie Stackhouse novels), actor Danielle Harris (Halloween), actor Tony Todd (Candyman), and actor Derek Mears (Friday the 13th).

On tonight’s Halloween Wars episode, “Zombie Prom,” five teams go to battle to create mind-blowing Halloween-themed displays that capture a zombie prom. At the end of the battle, one team will be eliminated. Special Guest Judge: Danielle Harris, star of the Halloween franchise!

Check out the creepy but delicious fun tonight on Food Network at 8/7c & 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Cousins Undercover, Cutthroat Kitchen, Witches of East End, & The Mentalist.

alaskanwomensmallI don’t know what’s happening to me and why I’m watching some of these reality programs, but I am curious about tonight’s series premiere of Alaskan Women Looking for Love. It could be that I enjoy a good romantic story or that I am simply interested in how complicated dating life is in Alaska. Whatever the case, I think this show is going to be very amusing. The premise of taking these women out of Alaska and bringing them to Miami to find love is a great one, because if there aren’t enough quality fish, you’ve got to go fish elsewhere. From the clips, I am intrigued by the women and their back stories, and I really believe you will be too.

On tonight’s series premiere, “The Odds are Good…” six best friends from Alaska ditch the freezing weather and head to Miami to meet the men of their dreams.

To watch these women jump out of their comfort zone tune in to TLC at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching The Amazing Race, Once Upon a Time, The Good Wife, The Mentalist, Drop Dead Diva, Homeland, Witches of East End, and Cutthroat Kitchen.
