If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/9/13

I don’t know what I did to my wrist Monday night while I was sleeping, but it hurt all day Tuesday. But that’s okay, because Tuesday night TV is my favorite this season (followed closely by Monday), so I had lots to watch to keep me occupied! Tonight is another great night of television, so check out what we’re recommending (& welcome back Kyle! 🙂 ).

Jenny’s Choice #1

tomorrowpeople109smallMy first pick tonight is the series premiere of The Tomorrow People on the CW. The “Tomorrow People” is a generation of humans born with paranormal abilities. Stephen Jameson was a “normal” teenager up until a year ago, until he began hearing voices and teleporting in his sleep. The Tomorrow People are being hunted down by a paramilitary group of scientists known as Ultra. The show stars Robbie Amell (Revenge) as Stephen, Luke Mitchell (H20: Just Add Water) as John, Peyton List (Mad Men) as Cara, Aaron Yoo (Disturbia, Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist) as Russell, Mark Pellegrino (Lost, Supernatural) as Dr. Jedikiah Price, and Madeleine Mantock (upcoming All You Need is Kill) as Astrid.

On tonight’s episode, “Pilot,” Stephen questions his sanity when he starts hearing voices and waking up in unusual places; a voice in Stephen’s head leads him to a genetically advanced race known as the Tomorrow People.

Find out if this new sci-fi/supernatural drama is for you tonight on the CW at 9/8c.

Megan’s Choice

superfunnightsmallSuper Fun Night had a decent premiere last week, even if it did throw me for a loop that it wasn’t the same pilot I watched. They made a good choice airing this episode instead of the original pilot, because it did a much better job of setting up the characters. I really enjoyed the sing-off between Kendell and Kimmie—Kendell reminds me of every mean girl in the history of TV and life. Therefore, I despise her. There is a lot of talk about this show being fat-shaming, and as a curvy girl, I’d like to say that I don’t agree. The thing is, it’s about Kimmie learning to love herself and come out of her shell, which in is the complete opposite of fat-shaming. Let’s remember that it doesn’t matter what you look like. We should all learn to accept ourselves as we are. Not to mention that the scene with the Spanx is quite accurate. Those things are a nightmare to get on and off!

On tonight’s episode, “Three Men and a Boubier,” Kimmie embellishes the gals’ profiles on a dating site, which gets them dates with three cute guys.

To see what kind of issues the girls get into, tune in to ABC 9:30/8:30c.

I’ll also be watching Criminal Minds, The X Factor, Arrow, The Tomorrow People, Survivor, American Horror Story, Back in the Game, and Law & Order: SVU.

Kyle’s Choice

ahscoven109smallThey’ve done a haunted house with ghosts and rubber men, as well as a creepy insane asylum complete with aliens and face-wearing serial killers, but this year, the writers take on witches in American Horror Story: Coven. I really enjoy the anthology aspect of this show—not only does it allows a complete story to be told in a single season, but each year, you get to see the actors playing completely different characters from the previous seasons. Back again this year are Sarah Paulson, Francis Conroy, Lily Rabe, Evan Peters, Taissa Farmiga, Dennis O’Hare, and Jessica Lange. And joining them are some big names, including Emma Roberts, Kathy Bates, Patti Lupone, Gabourey Sidibe, and Mare Winningham. The second season of AHS was even scarier, crazier, and more entertaining than the first, so I hope that keep up that trend with the third season!

On tonight’s premiere, “Bitchcraft,” a young girl discovers she has a strange genetic affliction.

See the creepy fun tonight on FX at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Survivor, Criminal Minds, CSI, The Middle, Back in the Game, Modern Family, Super Fun Night, Nashville, Revolution, Arrow, The Tomorrow People, The League, Top Chef, and Thieves, Inc..

Jenny’s Choice #2

modernfamily109smallWhile it’s not my favorite comedy on TV, Modern Family does make me laugh every week. Each of the characters has something that makes them unique and funny, and together, they’re a great ensemble to watch. Last week’s episode was so funny, with Cam & Mitchell and their wedding plans—not to mention Cam’s putting on the fake cat’s funeral—Gloria freaking out about the baby, Phil being…well, Phil, Manny & Jay getting kicked out of the Sound of Music… Tonight is the 100th episode of the show, and it’s a well-deserved milestone. Tonight’s ep should be fun because we get to see Cam’s family, finally!

On tonight’s episode, “Farm Strong,” Cameron’s older, single sister Pam is coming for a visit, and Cam is in a panic to hide the engagement until he can delicately break the news to her, but it turns out she has news of her own. Phil and Claire make a joint, guilt-ridden decision to miss one of Luke’s volleyball games—that is, until one of them goes behind the other’s back—and Gloria is in denial that she might need reading glasses. Dana Powell and Maia Madison guest star.

Laugh along with me tonight on ABC at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Back in the Game, Criminal Minds, Law & Order: SVU, CSI, Top Chef, Mystery Diners, Ironside, & Thieves, Inc..
