If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/15/13

Yesterday, I did a 6-acre corn maze with my fiance and two kids—let me just say that when they say it takes an hour and a half, they didn’t have a two-and-a-half-year-old in tow. 🙂 It took us 2 hours and 15 mins, but it was fun—exhausting, especially after carrying my son on my shoulders for the last little bit, but still lots of fun. Now tonight, I’m going to sit back and enjoy some television while I rest my tender back. Let’ see what you all should be watching.

Megan’s Choice

thegoldbergssmallI don’t know about you, but I have been loving the weekly flashback to the ’80s we get when watching The Goldbergs. Not only is this family incredibly amusing, but this comedy has a nostalgic feel that reminds me of back in the day when there was TGIF on ABC. I love Murray arguing with Barry, because they have the best chemistry—as odd as that sounds. LOL When Murray fired Barry and he threw the tantrum, saying he was done with all furniture, I was giggling out loud. Such a feel-good family show!

On tonight’s episode, “Why’re You Hitting Yourself?” Adam and Barry bond over the discovery of a “hidden” channel on TV; Beverly intrudes on her father’s dating life.

To see what kind of channel the boys found, tune in to ABC at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., NCIS, NCIS: LA, The Voice, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Mindy Project, New Girl, Supernatural, The Originals, Trophy Wife, Person of Interest, and Chopped.

ncisla1015smallDeeks is back! I’m one happy NCIS: LA shipper/viewer. Last week, the team raced to find a classified vaccine after the CEO of the bio tech company was murdered. And Deeks came back to work…and although he was shaky at first, he really started to get his feet back under him at the end. I’m excited about tonight’s episode because it’s another Callen back-story episode, which can be confusing, but is always really interesting, too. And tonight, we get to meet his father…or so we’re told. We’ll see! Tonight is the 100th episode! Yay! 🙂

On tonight’s episode, “Reznikov, N.,” the NCIS: LA team finds themselves in danger while investigating a kidnapping case of a man claiming to be Callen’s father.

Find out if the man is really Callen’s father…and if not, who he is tonight on CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., NCIS, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, 19 Kids & Counting, The Goldbergs, Trophy Wife, Chopped, The Little Couple, Person of Interest, & Chicago Fire.

shield1015smallLast week on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the team was called into action to rescue a kidnapped scientist. Skye used her affiliation with Rising Tide to infiltrate the kidnapper’s compound and shut down its defenses so the rest of the gang could swoop in and save the day. Fans of the Marvel comics will have recognized the episode as an origin story for supervillain Graviton—so it’s likely we will see him return later in the season (or perhaps in one of the upcoming Phase 2 films). Last week, we also learned more about Skye’s past and saw her definitively choose to be a member of S.H.I.E.L.D., rather than become a double-agent.

I love this show’s perfect blend of humor and action. It feels like the kind of shows I loved watching as a kid, like The A-Team, Knight Rider, MacGyver, and the Mission: Impossible revival series. I also enjoy how they add those extra tidbits in for fans of the comics and movies. I can’t wait to see what Coulson and his crew get up to this week!

On tonight’s episode, “Eye Spy,” the agents track down a mysterious woman who has pulled off a variety of risky capers, but the investigation reveals a secret that could have a negative effect on Coulson.

Find out what secret they uncover tonight on ABC at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Goldbergs, Trophy Wife, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, New Girl, The Mindy Project, Supernatural, Sons of Anarchy, Chopped, Face Off, and Fangasm.

JJ’s Choice

themindyproject1015smallWhen I was on holiday, I saw an advert for last week’s episode of The Mindy Project, with a picture of Mindy and Morgan and the question of who would sue whom for sexual harassment. It intrigued me so much, especially because it could be either with this hilarious show. Now that I’ve caught up on the episodes, I’m so happy that Mindy and Casey broke up, because it should be the endgame for the show to get Mindy and Danny together! But for now, it is fine for them to have their banter and some nice connection.

On tonight’s episode, “Wiener Night,” Mindy hits it off with a journalist named Jason, but he finds her too mainstream. To show him he’s wrong, Mindy invites Jason to Christina’s art show, where nude pictures of Danny are on display.

Find out how Mindy handles it on FOX at 9:30/8:30c.

I’ll also be watching Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and New Girl.
