If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/16/13

Well, my kid has bronchitis. Fun stuff. He stayed home from school yesterday, but he’s on antibiotics, so he’s back at school tomorrow. Hopefully the meds work fast, but even if he isn’t feeling great, there’s lots of stuff to watch tonight to help him relax. Here’s our recommendations. 🙂

criminalminds1016smallLast week’s Criminal Minds was intense and really quite interesting. A sniper was shooting up Dallas, and it took a little bit, but the team finally figured out who the real targets were and why. I have to say that the husband running into the street and getting hit by the bus was kind of cool, in a gruesome way. And it couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy. The one thing I was confused about was a) how did Hotch get up to the woman’s apartment before the rest of the team made it up to the apartment the sniper was sitting in? Speaking of the sniper, it was pretty wild that his relationship with the woman was all in his mind, a way to keep himself awake while he waited for his opportunity.

I’m excited about tonight’s episode because we finally get to meet the new section chief, played by Esai Morales. He and JJ have some sort of history—something to do with her time away from the BAU, I think? It’ll be interesting to see that relationship, and I’m definitely interested to see how he fits in with the team. Strauss started off as the antagonist, and while she wasn’t besties with the team by the time she died, she’d certainly redeemed herself a whole whopping lot. So will he be supportive or argumentative with them? I’m anxious to find out.

On tonight’s episode, “To Bear Witness,” the BAU meets their new section chief, Mateo Cruz, who, unbeknownst to them, shares a long work history with JJ. Cruz joins the team as they comb the streets of Baltimore for an UnSub who leaves victims unable to communicate. David Anders guest stars.

See how the new section chief fits in tonight on CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Back in the Game, Law & Order: SVU, Modern Family, The Tomorrow People, CSI, Top Chef, Ironside, Mystery Diners, & Thieves, Inc..

superfunnight1016smallI know there were a lot of people who weren’t sure about Super Fun Night, but I’m sorry. They were so very wrong. I love this show, and every episode so far, I have been giggling out loud. Last week, we watched as Kimmie lied about her and the girls’ dating profiles, which led to an uncomfortable moment when they realized the guys they went out with actually live in their building. It was an amusing episode that ended with Helen-Alice finding a connection with one of the guys once the truth had been told. I’m liking the interactions between the girls. However, the interactions between Richard and Kimmie are always my favorite.

On tonight’s episoode, “Chick or Treat,” Kimmie plans to tell Richard how she feels about him at the office costume party.

To see if Kimmie follows through, tune in to ABC at 9:30/8:30c.

I’ll also be watching Criminal Minds, CSI, Toy Story of TERROR!, Back in the Game, The Tomorrow People, The Originals, and Duck Dynasty.

Kyle’s Choice

toystoryofterrorsmallTonight, Buzz, Woody, Jessie, and the rest of the toy gang return in an all-new special, Toy Story OF TERROR!. The toys go on a road trip with their owner and her mother, but they soon find that their stay at a roadside motel has all the markings of a classic horror film. The toys start disappearing one by one, falling prey to a mysterious creature in the darkness. So it’s up to those left to rescue their friends and stop the monster before they suffer same fate.

I really enjoyed this one-off special. It has all the fun you’d expect from the Toy Story franchise, and it was great to see some of my favorite characters from the films in an all-new adventure! With Halloween approaching, this is the perfect special to get you in the spirit—although I could see it possibly being a little too scary for really young children.

I’ll also be watching/recording Survivor, Criminal Minds, CSI, Back in the Game, Modern Family, Super Fun Night, Revolution, Arrow, The Tomorrow People, American Horror Story: Coven, The League, Top Chef, and Thieves, Inc..

thetomorrowpeople1016smallLast week, The Tomorrow People premiered, and I was really entertained. As to be expected, it was a little to much “broody CW teenagers,” but between the genetics, Mark Pellegrino, the effects, and the story, the show warranted a second look tonight. Although I must say that seeing the Amell family leading shows right after each other is a little weird.

Last week, we met Stephen, a guy with major sleepwalking issues. As it turns out, he is one of the Tomorrow People, humans born with paranormal abilities. And chasing down these Tomorrow People is Ultra, led by Jedikiah Price (played by Mark Pellegrino), who is also Stephen’s uncle and involved in Stephen’s father’s disappearance. Now that Stephen appears to be working for Ultra, it will be interesting to see how this story progresses and how long Stephen manages to stay there.

On tonight’s episode, “In Too Deep,” Ultra tries to probe Stephen’s brain, and he looks to his fellow Tomorrow People for help. Meanwhile, Ultra tracks down a new break-out, who has been using his powers to commit crimes, and Stephen has to track him down. When Stephen calls John, Cara, and Russell for help, he leaves them at risk of getting caught.

Find out what happens on The CW at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching Arrow, Revolution, Modern Family, and Super Fun Night.
