Tonight is the series premiere of Thicker Than Water on Bravo at 9/8c. The show follows Ben and Jewel Tankard, self-dubbed “The Black Brady Bunch.” This southern family integrates their strong religious conviction with their penchant for the finer things in life. Under the watchful eye of the patriarch and matriarch, the Tankard children, although young adults, still live at home and must abide by Ben and Jewel’s rules. With the belief that “God wants us all to be millionaires,” the Tankards aim to be the best and brightest in everything they do. Along with their drive comes a healthy dose of rivalry proving the adage, “You can choose your friends, but you can’t choose your family” especially true.

Tonight is also the series premiere of American Jungle on History Channel at 10/9c. On the island paradise of Hawaii, thousands of acres of untamed jungle are home to wild beasts and the men who live off the land in the ancient ways of their ancestors. Generations of families have claimed, maintained and fought over their own sacred hunting trails. When the dry season comes, wild boar, goats, feral bulls and small game crisscross the island in search for water. These clans must do whatever it takes to protect their turf. But in a land where traditions run deep and ancient spirits rule the mountains, hunting is about more than putting food on the table. It’s about respecting the family and revering the ancestors. The show follows several tight-knit clans as they hunt the old way – with knives and spears – and battle for control of their territory.

Tonight is the series premiere of Bear Grylls: Escape from Hell on Discovery Channel at 10/9c. Bear takes his survival expertise one step further as he reveals the incredible stories of ordinary people stranded in devastatingly dire situations. Coupled with archival footage and interviews with the survivors, Bear will pit himself against the very same dangers and scenarios. He will re-live their journeys through first-hand experience, and show viewers how to survive in some of the world’s most desolate landscapes. The show is a revealing insight into the human spirit under intense pressure. From avalanches to dangerous river crossings to ferocious sand storms, Bear will risk his life by trekking in the shoes of these survivors, analyzing and dissecting the survival techniques they employed and providing expert advice and tips for the best possible survival strategy. Bear travels the planet to give a complete picture of survival, from the scorching Saharan desert to the snow covered mountains of North America. Each landscape presents its own unique set of challenges, but they also share universal themes of survival: hydration, shelter, warmth, food and navigation.

Tonight is the series premiere of Black Mirror on DirecTV at 9/8c. The show is a contemporary British hybrid of The Twilight Zone and Tales of the Unexpected, with stories that tap into the collective unease about our modern world. Each installment of the six-episode mini-series is a sharp, suspenseful, satirical tale with a techno-paranoia bent that explores our modern reality. Black Mirror presents a world where technology has transformed almost every aspect of daily life. Every hour-long, stand-alone episode of the satirical drama features a different cast and provides a social commentary on today’s cultural and technological trends.

Following that, it’s the series premiere of Secret State on DirecTV at 10/9c. The show stars Gabriel Byrne as Tom Dawkins, the reluctant hero at the heart of this contemporary conspiracy thriller, who finds himself thrust into the spotlight of front-line politics and risks everything by taking on the might of the Establishment. Following a devastating industrial accident that leaves several people dead and raises awkward questions about the safety procedures of the US petrochemical company involved., Dawkins, a man who has a profound belief in transparency and open government, tackles vested interests, financial and military, both domestic and international, in his pursuit to uncover the truth and get justice for the families affected by the disaster.

Tonight is the series premiere of Ground Floor on TBS at 10/9c, followed by a 2nd new episode at 10:35/9:35c. Set in the modern world of corporate America, the show centers on Brody (Skylar Astin), a young hot-shot banker who thought he was just having a one-night stand with Jennifer (Briga Heelan), a beautiful woman he met at an office party. He discovers, however, that she works in the maintenance department for the building where his bank – Remington Trust – is located. Suddenly, their worlds begin to collide in the most unexpected ways. Facing Brody’s critical boss, Mr. Mansfield (John C. McGinley), as well as annoyed colleagues, the pair must find a way to deal with their growing feelings for each other in this modern take on Romeo & Juliet. Starring as Jennifer’s co-workers in the building’s maintenance office are Rory Scovel (Zach Stone is Going to be Famous) as Harvard, a know-it-all who’s secretly enamored with her; James Earl (Glee) as Derrick, a guy who is tough on the outside, but a pussy cat on the inside and always looks out for his friends; and Alexis Knapp (Pitch Perfect) as Tori, a sexy young woman who loves to hit the clubs every night and catch up on her sleep at work. In addition, Rene Gube (Upright Citizens Brigade) stars as Brody’s colleague Threepeat, a competitive go-getter who’s not quite as shallow as he seems.
