If We Controlled Your Remote… 11/18/13

What beautiful weather we’ve had the last couple of days. I’m savoring them because we’re past the heat of summer and fall, but we aren’t to the point where we had to turn the heater on yet. (Almost, but not quite… LOL When it got down to 18 at night, the space heater sufficed. 😉 ) But the last two days, we’ve had the windows open in the living room and kitchen, and the breeze that goes through is cool, but not so cold that I’m uncomfortable. Love it. I also love TV tonight. We don’t have Bones, but we do have Almost Human to make up for it. So grab your remotes, because here are our recommendations! 🙂

almosthuman1118smallHow great was the Almost Human premiere last night? I loved it just as much the second time as I did the first. The futuristic look is a lot of fun—all the technology, I mean—and I love the chemistry the cast has. We first met John in the middle of a forced flashback, where he’s gone to a doctor (well, former doctor) to try to recover memories from a year and a half before, when his partner was killed and his leg was blown off. That same explosion put him in a coma for seventeen months. Through one of his forced flashbacks, we saw his ex-girlfriend…as one of the bad guys. Is that truly a memory, or is it his mind playing tricks on him? I guess we’ll find out.

On tonight’s episode, “Skin,” Detective John Kennex and Dorian are dispatched to investigate a murder and high-profile missing persons case that lead them into the highly profitable world of IRCs—Intimate Robot Companions—also known as sexbots. Meanwhile, Kennex looks to reconcile a part of his troubled past.

See what Kennex has to face about his past tonight on FOX at 8/7c.

hartofdixie1118smallA lot has been going on in the Hart of Dixie world lately, and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. Zoe is working hard on being the town doctor, but she and Joel are also working on finding a better place to live, other than the Bed & Breakfast. Unfortunately, the house that they fell in love with is owned by someone in Zoe’s extended family from her dad’s side and they don’t really like her. Zoe being Zoe decided to crash an 8-year-old’s birthday party to get to know her family better. It all backfired and ended up leaving Zoe heartbroken because she just wants a family. I’m really hoping that they wrap this family story up quick because it’s actually quite depressing watching Zoe be so sad.

On tonight’s episode, “I Run to You,” Zoe becomes bothered by Joel and Wade’s budding friendship.

To see why Zoe doesn’t want her ex-boyfriend being friends with her current man, tune in to The CW at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching Almost Human, Sleepy Hollow, The Voice, 2 Broke Girls, Mom, Mike & Molly, Hostages, and Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.

doctorwho1118smallWe are less than a wek away from the big Doctor Who 50th Anniversary special, and today, BBC America is kicking off a week-long celebration. Tonight, they will be airing two all new specials. First, at 9pm, is the premiere of “Tales from the TARDIS.” Former Doctors, Companions, and executive producer Steven Moffat share their memories and experiences from the show—from how they got cast in their life-changing roles, to how a regeneration is filmed, and how working on the show now differs from when the series first started in the 1960s. Following this at 10pm, is “The Science of Doctor Who.” Former rock star turned TV physicist Brian Cox takes a look at the science behind the series and tries to explain how some aspects of the series—like time and space travel—could actually be possible.

I can’t wait for the big episode this Saturday. I’m glad BBC America is giving us some new Who-related specials to tide us over until then!

To get your fill of the first night of specials, tune in to BBC America at 9/8c & 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/recording How I Met Your Mother, 2 Broke Girls, Mom, Hostages, Castle, Almost Human, and Sleepy Hollow.

himym1118smallMy history with How I Met Your Mother is clear, and this season hasn’t been as great as I wanted it. The setting in Farhampton and the toxicity of Robin and Barney’s relationship really doesn’t work. But last week was set in New York, featured the mother, and showed us how the mother got Robin and Barney together (hey, the scene was sweet. She couldn’t have known what a relationship would’ve resulted from it…). Hopefully tonight will again be another good episode.

On tonight’s episode, “Mom and Dad,” when Barney’s father arrives at the hotel, Barney devises a plan that makes Robin very nervous. Meanwhile, Ted is convinced someone framed him by messing up a wedding-related duty.

See if Ted’s right on CBS at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching Almost Human, Dancing with the Stars, 2 Broke Girls, Mike & Molly, Mom, and Castle.

castle1118smallI couldn’t not mention tonight’s new episode of Castle. You’ll see why in a minute… But first, last week, which took Castle, Beckett, Ryan, and Espo into the sparkly world of diamonds. A relationship coach was murdered, and the team figured out it was because she’d stolen a priceless diamond. Come to find out, the diamond is priceless because it’s man-made, huge, and flawless. Until then, man-made diamonds haven’t been that big and stayed that clean. In the end, it turned out the diamond owner—the wife of the diamond maker—killed the woman because she was going to expose their secret about it, and she couldn’t let that happen. My favorite part of the ep, though, was the car crash & resulting shoot-out with Ryan and Espo. It was nice to kind of see them as badasses.

When I saw the promo for tonight’s ep, my first thought was Alias, which is still and will forever be my favorite show. The clone of Francie will always haunt me. So to have tonight’s story be a reminder of that? Love. It.

On tonight’s episode, “Disciple,” Castle and Beckett arrive at a crime scene to discover that the female victim bears a shocking resemblance to Medical Examiner Lanie Parish. As the team tries to make sense of this mystery, they realize the killer may be targeting detectives of the 12th Precinct. Annie Wersching (24) guest stars as Dr. Kelly Nieman, an exclusive Manhattan cosmetic surgeon who draws Castle and Beckett’s interest because of her connection to the victim.

Find out why Lanie has a clone tonight on ABC at 10:01/9:01c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing How I Met Your Mother, 2 Broke Girls, Sleepy Hollow, & Diners, Drive-ins & Dives.
