If We Controlled Your Remote… 12/8/13

The weekend is half over. My Saturday went by way too quickly. We intended to get our tree & decorations up, but the hubs had a meeting that ran a bit long, and then he and our kiddo spent a couple of hours shopping for a tuxedo shirt & accessories for my son’s band concert. *rolls eyes* So hopefully, that’s on our agenda for today! 🙂 In the meantime, here’s the recommendations Kyle & I have for you for tonight’s TV!

thementalist128smallLast week was the return of The Mentalist post-Red John. It was two years later, Jane was living on an unnamed island, Lisbon was the police chief in a small Washington State town, Cho was working for the FBI, and Rigsby & Van Pelt were running their own digital security firm. We saw Jane spending time with a woman on the island, and then Abbott suddenly showed up on the island and offered Jane a job with the FBI. Jane insisted that it be on his terms—working with Lisbon, a couch, and an adequate supply of tea—and Abbott agreed. But when Jane got to the FBI, Abbott told him the deal wasn’t valid and showed him the real deal: Jane would have to work for the FBI for five years, all while on parole—take it or leave it, in which case, he’d be arrested. Jane left it, putting his hands on the back of his head. And Kim, the woman on the beach? FBI, planted by Abbott to get close to Jane.

So where will they go from here? Obviously Jane will work for the FBI. But as of now, he’s likely under arrest. How will that change? I’m hoping we find out tonight on the fall finale! Also, Jane wrote Lisbon during those two years, and she’s read them more than once. So it’ll be interesting to see where their relationship goes.

On tonight’s episode, “Green Thumb,” the FBI reluctantly enlists Jane’s help to find a missing computer programmer, but he won’t help unless Lisbon is brought on board as well.

Find out if Lisbon and Jane are allowed to work together tonight on CBS at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Come Dine with Me, America’s Funniest Home Videos, Guy’s Grocery Games, & Restaurant Express.

tarsmallTonight is the season finale of The Amazing Race, and we are down to the final 4 teams. Last week, the racers first had to eat snakes, and I loved how the other teams rejoiced at the thought of picky eater Marie trying to complete the challenge. For the Roadblock, they had to hard-boil eggs in a volcano. Three of the teams had some trouble, undercooking their eggs the first time, and had to try again. However, Marie somehow managed to cook hers correctly the first time, despite having no patience and no experience cooking an egg (how is that possible?!). At the detour, the teams had to choose between putting Javanese bridal makeup on one another or searching for some shears in a huge field of tea leaves. While the Afghanimals chose to do the tea leaves, the rest went with the makeup. After hours of searching, the Afghanimals decided to switch tasks, but once they learned that it meant shaving their beards, they immediately returned to their original task and eventually completed it, coming in last place. Lucky for them, this was a non-elimination leg!

Out of the four teams that are left, I really don’t have one that I want to win. While I found Leo and Jamal really annoying at the beginning, they’ve become a little less so over the course of the race, and since I have all my points in an Amazing Race pool riding on the Afghanimals, I guess I hope they win. As for the other teams, I haven’t liked the married doctors Travis & Nicole and their hypocritical “we’re playing the race honestly” attitude; it’s clear why Tim and Marie are exes—she is so irritating; and while Jason and Amy are probably the nicest of the bunch and probably should win, I can’t stand Jason’s Massachusetts accent. 🙂

On tonight’s 2-hour finale, “Amazing ‘Crazy’ Race,” the final four teams race through Tokyo, where one pair are eliminated. The last three duos then fly to Juneau, Alaska, where the winner is revealed.

Find out which team races to the top tonight on the 2-hour season finale on CBS at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Mentalist, Once Upon a Time, The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy, Holidaze, Guy’s Grocery Games, Restaurant Express, Bonnie & Clyde, Getting On, Ja’mie: Private School Girl, Homeland, and Masters of Sex.
