If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/7/14

I’m so glad I’m not in Minnesota. Their highs right now are like -15° to -20°F! Isane, I tell ya. Another thing I’m glad about is that my new laptop SHOULD be here tomorrow. Yay! 😀 And finally, I’m also thrilled that TV is back because there’s a ton of stuff on tonight—including one I’ve been looking forward to most since last summer when I saw the screener: Intelligence. That’s my first pick, so check out our recommendations! 🙂

intelligence17smallAs I said, Intelligence was the show I’ve been looking forward to most for months. The show is about a high-tech intelligence operative (Josh Holloway, Lost) who is enhanced with a super-computer microchip in his brain. With it, he’s connected to to everything: Internet, WiFi, telephone & satellite data… It’s like…Chuck & Jake 2.0, but not. Leading his team is Marg Helgenberger (CSI), and his partner/“bodyguard” is Meghan Ory (Ruby/Red Riding Hood, Once Upon a Time). He can hack into any data center and access key intel in the fight to protect the United States from its enemies.

I wasn’t a fan of Lost, so Josh Holloway wasn’t someone I’ve seen a lot of, but he’s super sexy and so much fun to watch in this pilot. And it’s great having Marg Helgenberger back on TV after she left CSI. Other members of the cast include James Martinez, John Billingsley, PJ Byrne, & Michael Rady.

On tonight’s episode, “Pilot,” Gabriel and Riley must rescue the kidnapped member of CyberCom who invented the chip implanted in Gabriel’s brain before the top-secret technology falls into the wrong hands. Meanwhile, Gabriel takes advantage of his chip to search for his wife who disappeared years ago.

See if this new science fiction drama is for you tonight on CBS at 9/8c.

brooklyn9917smallTonight, our favorite cops of Brooklyn Nine-Nine are back on the beat. I thoroughly enjoyed the first half of the season—the episodes just kept getting funnier and funnier each week. The last two episodes were hilarious back-to-back Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday classics-in-the-making. I was wondering if the show would be able to keep up this momentum when it returned mid-season, but having already seen a screener of tonight’s midseason premiere, I can happily report that they have! Tonight’s episode had me constantly laughing out loud—if you aren’t already watching Brooklyn Nine-Nine, this is one hilarious show that you should be adding to your schedule!

On tonight’s episode, “Pontiac Bandit,” Jake pumps one of Rosa’s perpetrators for information about an elusive car thief. Meanwhile, Charles returns to work following his injury; and Capt. Holt tries to find homes for two puppies.

Find out if Jake can catch the thief tonight on FOX at 8:30/7:30c.

ravenswood17smallIn the fall, ABC Family introduced us to Ravenswood, and since then, I haven’t looked back. What a well-written and suspense-filled show! I’m aware that it’s more directed to a younger age range, but I can’t help but be pulled in by not only the supernatural aspects, but the character growth. Tonight is the winter premiere, and when we last left the group, they had almost died. We found out that there are more people involved in trying to get them dead and that there is something behind this all—but it’s all in a bigger view because nothing is really making sense yet. I love how confused this show can make me while still keeping me interested.

On tonight’s episode, “Revival,” Caleb is struggling to deal with the aftermath of his brief time with Miranda on the other side. Remy is starting to see her dreams as clues.

To see where the dreams lead, tune in to ABC Family at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching Dads, The Mindy Project, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, New Girl, Pretty Little Liars, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Intelligence, NCIS, Killer Women, The Goldbergs, Trophy Wife, Justified, Chicago Fire, and Person of Interest.

cougartown17smallOver the Christmas holiday, I watched the fourth season of Cougar Town again to remind myself of why I love the show. Because the only downside of the move to TBS is that it’s “only” 15 episodes during a part of the TV season that is already quite crowded. But I’m still so happy that this little gem got saved by TBS, because it’s so funny, with so much heart. Last season ended in L.A., with the Cul-de-Sac Crew tending to Jules’s father, who started having health issues, while Laurie and Trav were trying to have their perfect first kiss.

On tonight’s episode, “All or Nothing,” the Cul-de-Sac Crew feels weird about Laurie and Travis dating, but Jules is determined to play it cool. Meanwhile, Bobby and Andy make it big when Penny Can goes global, but when Bobby starts throwing around money, Grayson confronts him about years of unpaid bar tabs.

Find out if Grayson succeeds on TBS at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Brooklyn Nine-Nine, New Girl, and The Mindy Project.

personofinterest17smallWhen we last left Person of Interest, things were turned all upside down, emotions were sky high, and the fate of every member of the team was in question for one reason or another. To start off with, after Carter’s death, John shut down. He left town as soon as he was healed, and we find him in the town that he lived in when his father was stationed there (and was killed not long after returning from his duty overseas). He has taken up residence, pretty much, at the local bar (that has a photo hanging on the wall of his father in uniform). It seems like he’s lost all emotion and caring he’s had since joining Finch and working with the Machine. He’s shut himself off because Carter’s death really hit him hard. Fusco showed up (Finch sent him because they were worried about John) and tried to talk to him, but the last we saw of them, Fusco had pulled John outside into the rain and told him to hit him, ostensibly to get John to feel SOMETHING. Meanwhile, Finch and Shaw were helping another number…a man with cancer that was affecting his memory. The man turned out to be an old coworker/friend of Finch’s…and he’d started to build a Machine but the project was shut down for some reason—we assume it’s because Finch finished his Machine and sold it to the government first. The man’s wife, meanwhile, turned out to NOT be his wife…but the woman in charge of the bad guys/government who want the Machine and have wanted to find Finch. By the time Finch & Shaw found that out, they were trapped. That leaves Root as the only one (besides the Machine, I guess) that can possibly help Finch & Shaw. If John & Fusco knew they were in trouble, they might help—at least Fusco would… But they don’t know.

So how does the team go on from here? How do Finch & Shaw get out of the predicament they’ve found themselves in? Does Fusco convince John to go back? Where is Root? I can’t wait to start getting answers to at least a couple of those questions!

On tonight’s episode, “Aletheia” – Multiple enemies converge on the POI team as they protect a dying man with a connection to Finch’s past whose number has come up. They struggle to keep their enemies at bay without Reese, who has left the team and their mission behind following the tragic war with HR. However, being down one man could have catastrophic repercussions for the team. Camryn Manheim & Saul Rubinek guest star.

Check out the conclusion to the winter finale tonight on CBS at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing NCIS, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Goldbergs, Trophy Wife, Cougar Town, Killer Women, & Marshal Law: Texas.

themindyproject17smallI don’t know what it is about these FOX comedies, but tonight’s midseason premieres are fantastic! Tonight’s episode of The Mindy Project is some of the funniest material I’ve ever seen on the series. There was one sequence that had me grinning from ear to ear and laughing out loud—such witty writing and perfect comedic timing! Definitely another comedy to add to your watch list on this busy TV night!

On tonight’s episode, “Danny Castellano Is My Personal Trainer,” Mindy wants to get in shape before a weekend getaway with Cliff, so she talks Danny into being her personal trainer. Meanwhile, Peter fills in as managing partner at the office when Jeremy is out sick.

To see how Mindy’s time with Danny goes, tune in to FOX at 9:30/8:30c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Intelligence, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Goldbergs, Trophy Wife, Killer Women, New Girl, Justified, and Cougar Town.
