If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/15/14

Last Wednesday, I got my new laptop. (Which is great, btw!) Now, 6 days later, my now-16yo got his first laptop. He got money for birthday & Christmas, and between that and money he’s saved, he had enough to pay the majority of it. We kicked in a little as part of his birthday present. So that’s been our night…setting it all up. But enough about my life… Here’s what we’re recommending on a great night of television!

Jenny’s Choice #1

meljoey115smallTonight is the winter premiere for ABC Family’s Melissa & Joey. I’m SO excited for the 2nd half of this season. On the last episode (not counting the Christmas ep!), Mel, Joe, & the kids were in New Jersey, visiting Joe’s family. Mel & Joe ended up spending a…romantic night together, and then Mel kind of ran scared, leaving Joe and the kids to get home together on their own. Lennox and Ryder convinced him to go after her, so he packed them up and they left. When they arrived home, Austin was there with Mel, wanting to give their relationship another try. For Mel and Joe shippers (like myself—surprise! 😉 ), it was killer. But I have faith (& I won’t spoil and say why! LOL).

On tonight’s episode, “A Decent Proposal,” in picking up where the summer cliff-hanger left off, Joe rushes home to tell Mel that he has feelings for her after their romantic night together in New Jersey. When he arrives, he’s shocked to find Austin (guest star Trevor Donovan) has shown up and wants to give his relationship with Mel another try. Deciding he can’t stay and watch them fall in love all over again, Joe quits. Meanwhile, Lennox plots to get Joe and Mel together, and Ryder gets sick from his own cooking.

Find out if Mel makes a decision regarding her love life tonight on ABC Family at 8/7c.

criminalminds115smallI’m very excited for the new episodes of Criminal Minds to start. It feels like it’s been forever, although it’s only been a few weeks. When we last left our team, they were helping Blake’s brother with a case back in her hometown after her dad asked for her help. They figured out that the whole case went back to high school and a prank that went horribly wrong. Blake’s brother was injured during the investigation, but in the end they caught the UnSub and her brother recovered. I’m still enjoying this show as much as I was in the beginning, and I don’t see that stopping anytime soon. Tonight’s episode is going to be more Garcia-centric, and I cannot wait!

On tonight’s episode, “The Black Queen,” Garcia delves into her hacker past and reconnects with an ex-boyfriend. Paolo Costanzo (Royal Pains) guest stars.

To see what demons pop up from Garcia’s past, tune in to CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching Chicago PD, Suburgatory, Super Fun Night, CSI, and Law & Order: SVU.

psych115smallIt is so great to have Psych back on my TV, even if it’s for a very short (and likely final) season. In last week’s premiere, Shawn and Gus headed to London, where they assisted Scotland Yard with an undercover operation. While Gus obsessed over Potter-Con and finding Rupert Grint, Shawn obsessed with learning the truth about Desperaux, who claimed that he was actually just an average agent named Royston Corwalis Stayley.

Last week’s premeire was hilarious—I loved the homage to and poking fun at all things British, as well as guest-star Vinnie Jones. With the musical episodes and last week’s episode abroad, we still have yet to see the fallout from the events of the season finale and how that has changed things back at Santa Barbara PD. It should be fun seeing Lassie deal with his demotion and the rest of the gang dealing with the new chief.

On tonight’s episode, “S.E.I.Z.E. the Day,” Shawn discovers the missing link connecting a group of murder victims.

See the connecting link tonight on USA Network at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Criminal Minds, CSI, The Middle, Suburgatory, Modern Family, Super Fun Night, Revolution, Melissa & Joey, Baby Daddy, American Horror Story, Top Chef, and Men at Work.

suburgatory115smallLast season, Suburgatory ended on a little bit of a down note. With Tessa out to look for her mom, and George and Dallas broken up, it will be interesting to see where the show heads now. Especially now that Malin Akerman probably isn’t available for a guest starring role on this show. But this really is an awesome comedy that is able to show a lot of heart, so I do highly recommend it.

On tonight’s episode, “No Me Gusta, Mami,” George tries to rebuild his relationship with Tessa after Alex disappears, and he introduces her to his new dog. When Shiela Shay discovers that there’s a dog on the loose in Chatswin, she dedicates herself to tracking his canine friend, and it’s up to Tessa and George to protect him. Meanwhile, Dalia shuns Dallas after her break-up with Daddy Altman.

Find out how Dallas deals on ABC at 8:30/7:30c.

I’ll also be watching American Idol, Arrow, Melissa & Joey, Baby Daddy, Modern Family, The Tomorrow People, and The Real World.

Jenny’s Choice #2

menatwork115smallMy second pick tonight is the season premiere of Men at Work, on TBS. I’ve loved this show since the first episode. The guys have a great chemistry together, and to me, the jokes are funny and the timing is flawless. I think my favorite is Tyler. He’s freakin’ hysterical. Actually, they all are. Give it a shot if you haven’t been watching before now. The season premiere’s a good chance to do that! 🙂

On tonight’s episode, “Pre-Posal,” Neal is going to propose to Amy, but first he has to get her father’s blessing—and it’s not going to be easy. Milo joins Gibbs on his yearly “samurai cleanse.” Tyler finds his first gray hair and is convinced that the end is close—or at least closer. J.K. Simmons guest stars.

Find out if Neal gets the blessing and if he proposes tonight on TBS at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Criminal Minds, Law & Order: SVU, Modern Family, Psych, CSI, Top Chef, & Chicago PD.
