Tonight is the series premiere of Growing Up Fisher on NBC at 10:36/9:36c. It’s not every family that’s brought closer together by divorce, but then again, the Fishers are anything but typical. Take Mel Fisher (J.K. Simmons, The Closer, Law & Order, Men at Work), for example. He’s chopping down trees, showing his daughter how to drive, and playing football with his son…except that Mel’s blind. Then there’s Joyce (Jenna Elfman, Dharma & Greg, 1600 Penn), who is your typical teenager – really into fashion, busy with school – but the problem is she’s Mom. That makes it difficult for her actual teenage daughter, Katie (Ava Deluca-Verley, Southland), whose advice (and clothes) Joyce is always seeking. At the center of all this is Henry (Eli Baker), the Fishers’ 11-year-old son. Having always been his dad’s eyes and wingman, Henry is less than thrilled when his job is outsourced to Mel’s new guide dog, Elvis. While the boy is at first reluctant to accept the changes that Elvis brings, adult Henry (voiceover by Jason Bateman, Arrested Development) realizes upon reflection that his parents’ split finally allowed the Fishers to become one happy (divorced) family.

Tonight is the series premiere of Cryptid: The Swamp Beast on History Channel at 10/9c. In every region of America, there are legends of strange, unidentified creatures that stretch back for centuries. In the northwest, many credible people swear to have sighted Bigfoot. In Lake Champlain, locals have sworn up and down to seeing a strange, prehistoric-like creature in the water. Down south in the swamplands it’s no different, where some of the most deep-rooted and fearsome monster stories have endured. In the new original series, one of America’s oldest mysteries and bone-chilling legends comes to life through dramatizations, eyewitness accounts, real news reports and expert interviews. In a remote southern town, the past few years have brought a dramatic uptick in strange occurrences, but now, whatever has been lurking in the swamps is intruding into human territory. There have been a rash of cattle mutilations and pets are being snatched away from backyards. With the attacks not matching up forensically with any known predators, suspicions are spreading. Terrified residents are claiming to have seen signs of voodoo and are conjuring up old Cajun legends like the “Rougarou” – a mythical shape-shifter – as a possible culprit, and others are swearing to have seen a huge, bipedal creature locally known as a “Skunk Ape” lurking about at night.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Private Lives of Nashville Wives on TNT at 10/9c. Set in and around the capital of the high-stakes country music business, the show will follow a group of accomplished, opinionated and driven women as they deal with professional challenges, family issues and social relationships. The cast includes Sarah Davidson (wife of songwriter Dallas Davidson), Erika Page White (wife of singer/songwriter Bryan White), Betty Malo (wife of singer, songwriter, guitarist and record producer Raul Malo), Ana Margarita Fernandez (Betty Malo’s twin sister), Cassie Chapman (wife of Christian music icon Gary Chapman), & Jenny Terrell (wife of JT Terrell, co-owner of Nashville’s premier event company, Music City Tents and Events).

Tonight is the series premiere of Clash of the Ozarks on Discovery Channel at 10/9c. Deep in the Ozark Mountains of northern Arkansas lies the town of Hardy. For the loyal folks who live here, there is no place they’d rather be. Those native to the area believe that it is the best place in the world to live, hunt, fish and raise families. As one of the town’s key patriarchs puts it, Hardy has “survived time,” and still very much resembles a town right out of the Wild West. This lack of progression has turned Hardy into a land where emotions and territory conflicts outweigh a law-abiding society as the townspeople fight to protect what is theirs. Two local Hardy families are locked in a feud that dates back many generations, and continues to cause hostility – even to this day. The show will put viewers right in the middle of this present-day clan war between two of the town’s oldest families: the Russells and the Evans.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Game of Arms on AMC at 10/9c. The show is a look inside the raw and highly competitive world of American arm wrestling. The series follows the members of five regional arm wrestling clubs in Erie, PA, Kansas City, KS, New York, NY, Sacramento, CA, and Baton Rouge, LA, as they hit the road and wager their reputation, relationships, and money for the sport. Game of Arms not only focuses on the technique and skill in this high-stakes world, but also the family, careers and personal struggles of each man outside of the sport. Each episode features a dramatic regional match, leading to a tournament finale where the entire cast will compete for prize money and bragging rights.

Finally, tonight is the series premiere of Mind Games on ABC at 10/9c. With a little bit of science, a dash of con-artistry, plus a smattering of Jedi mind tricks, brothers Ross (Christian Slater) and Clark Edwards (Steve Zahn) can tailor a plan to influence any life-altering situation, thereby making their clients’ dreams come true and their nightmares go away. They are partners in Edwards and Associates, an unusual business based on the belief that people’s decisions are influenced by their environment in ways they’re not aware. By using the hard science of psychological manipulation, the brothers commit to solving their clients’ problems. With Clark’s expertise and Ross’s con artist ways, each believing to know what makes people tick, and with their unique staff to help them, the brothers will use psychology and science to offer clients an alternative to their fates. The show stars Steve Zahn as Clark, Christian Slater as Ross, Megalyn Echikunwoke as Megan, Gregory Marcel as Miles, Jaime Ray Newman as Sam, and Cedric Sanders as Latrell.

Tonight is the series premiere of Inside Job on TNT at 9/8c. Each week, one of America’s hottest companies will invite four highly qualified job candidates to compete for a six-figure executive position. For one week, they’ll live together, work together and play together as part of the interview and hiring process. What the candidates don’t know, however, is that one of their fellow candidates is already a management executive of the company. This undercover insider will monitor every move the job candidates make — good or bad — and report the findings back to the boss. At the end of the week, the insider will be revealed, and it is the insider who will decide who is the most deserving candidate to be offered the job of a lifetime.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Game of Stones on Discovery Channel at 10/9c. Billions of dollars in precious stones are unearthed each year, but the rarest never make it to the open market. That’s where Don Kogen, America’s most extreme gem hunter, comes in. Kogen is CEO of Gem Guys, Inc., and a legend in the business. He specializes in rare stones from the most dangerous and lawless places on earth, racing the clock to be the first to each new find, always staying one step ahead of the competition. Kogen left school in Houston, TX as a pre-teen to travel to Thailand with his father. As a teenager, he was left to his own devices in a sink or swim situation and began to sell stones on the streets of a Thai gem trading town to survive. Kogen sacrificed much along his path to success, chasing his dreams for bigger and rarer stones which kept this gem addict’s blood pumping. Kogen later returned to the U.S. and last year traveled to 50 countries in search of the rarest stones on earth, including Cambodia ‘Sunset’ Rubies, Royal Blue Sapphires, Canary Yellow Tourmaline and Transvaal Emeralds.

Finally, tonight is the series premiere of Save Our Business on TNT at 10/9c. Peter Jones is a titan of entrepreneurship who has created a worldwide empire with more than a hundred businesses, both large and small. In this new show, Jones travels across America on a mission – investing his time and expertise and putting his reputation and even his own money on the line to save small businesses in trouble. Each week, Jones will assess the major problems facing a struggling company and design a plan to help save it from collapsing.
