If We Controlled Your Remote… 3/23/14

It’s the start of another week, the first full week of spring…except the weather is still much more like winter than not, so… Regardless, there’s some great TV on this week, and tonight’s no exception. JJ’s busy with school and Megan’s dad is visiting, so Kyle & I are to give you our recommendations. 🙂

americandreambuilderssmallIt’s no secret that I love design shows and competition shows. Put them together, and it’s a recipe for a fun show! Tonight, NBC is premiering their latest, American Dream Builders. Hosted by Nate Berkus, each weekly episode features two teams who will be asked to redesign and renovate a space from the inside out, all in a matter of days. Eddie George (former Heisman Trophy Winner and NFL All-Pro from the Tennessee Titans, who has now become a renowned landscape architect) and interior design expert Monica Pedersen are joining Nate as the judges.

This has all the makings of what could be another fun design competition show, and I love Nate Berkus, so I’m looking forward to seeing how NBC puts its spin on things. Also, be sure to check out our American Dream Builders giveaway, where you can win a $50 Lowe’s gift card!

On tonight’s episode, “The Tudors,” the teams tackle two Tudor-style homes across the street from one other. Team Red (headed by Tennessee-based builder Tarrick Love) attempts to build a bathroom vanity from a repurposed work bench and create a new dining room table out of the original kitchen’s beloved hardwood floors. Team Blue (headed by Chicago builder Jay Riordan) must decide what they should do with the master bedroom. In a surprise twist for the contestants, Berkus invites a “neighborhood council” to vote on which house they feel is the best makeover. In the end, one designer from the losing team will be sent home.

Meet the teams and see who goes home tonight on NBC at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing America’s Funniest Home Videos, Food Court Wars, Believe, Chopped, Resurrection, Catch a Contractor, Crisis, Cutthroat Kitchen, & The Mentalist.

dropdeaddiva323smallTonight, Drop Dead Diva kicks off its sixth and final season with a 2-hour premiere. At the end of last season, Jane spent time with the real Jane’s mother in her dying moments. Afterwards, Grayson tried to comfort Jane in her time of loss, and the two ended up kissing. However, this was interrupted by the real Jane (as Brittany), who was angry that Jane did not tell her that her mother was dying, causing her to miss out on saying goodbye. Before she stormed out of the room, she told Grayson that Jane is not who she says she is and that he should ask her for the truth. And that’s the cliffhanger we were left with.

Will Jane finally tell Grayson the whole outrageous story? How will he react, and will he really believe that Jane is his lost soul-mate Deb? Will he and Jane finally get together? Will there be any Heavenly repercussions if Jane reveals the truth to Grayson? And what oddball court cases and guest stars will we see this season?

On tonight’s premiere, “Truth & Consequences; Soulmates,” Jane takes a pro bono case to help a school lunch lady; Owen’s estranged brother visits; Stacy and Nick go on a date; Jane comes clean to Grayson; a new attorney fills in for Kim; Jane subpoenas Owen to get help with a case; Grayson asks Jane out. Stephen “tWitch” Boss (So You Think You Can Dance), Virginia Williams (Fairly Legal), & Colin Egglesfield (Rizzoli & Isles) guest star.

To see if we get any answers, tune in to Lifetime at 9/8c, followed by a 2nd new episode at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Amazing Race, The Good Wife, The Mentalist, Once Upon a Time, Resurrection, American Dream Builders, Believe, Crisis, Bob’s Burgers, The Simpsons, Family Guy, Chopped, Cutthroat Kitchen, The Walking Dead, and Shameless.
