If We Controlled Your Remote… 4/8/14

Happy Tuesday! It’s Monday night as I write this up, and I’m hoping my Tuesday goes better than my Monday went—at least late morning! Anyone else have AT&T Uverse? We had a 2 1/2-hour outage Monday morning. No Internet, no TV… I was one bored chicky! It was pretty widespread…from Texas to California to New York. Craziness. The worst part was there was no official word from AT&T about it at all, at least not yet. I’ve never had any huge problems with AT&T, but not sending out an email after, not posting on their official Twitter feed, etc… That just irritates me. Grr. But at least it was back up for the rest of the day & night. 🙂 I’ll keep my fingers crossed that it stays up on Tuesday, because our recommendations are not to be missed.

ncisla48smallLast week on NCIS: LA, the team learned that Kensi was missing in Afghanistan, and Hetty sent them over to find her. Sam & Callen went off with Granger to look for her while Deeks had to stay behind with their translator dude. Sam, Callen, and Granger found the cave where she’d been held, and inside, they found the blood and a picture of what looked like Kensi’s dead body. Meanwhile, Deeks was interrogating a man believed to be a contact for Al Qaeda. When he learned what the others had found and saw the photo, he went off the deep end, water boarding the man he’d been interrogating. He quickly pulled himself back and apologized, because he knew he’d crossed the line, even with Kensi’s life at stake. In the end, I loved Deeks’s idea of trading Kensi for the man he’d been interrogating—the son of one of the big-wig Al Qaeda members. It worked. Kensi (& her ex… blech!) were returned without further harm. They also rescued the girl who’d been shooting at Sabatino & who was the go-between for the team and the terrorists.

Kensi is home now, and we got some sweet, special hugs for her & Deeks, but I have a feeling the rocky times are just beginning. 🙁 Also, can I just say that I love Nell & Eric? They’re just both so cute!

On tonight’s episode, “Windfall,” when the team investigates a case involving a former marine who is being tracked down by members of Al Qaeda for embezzling money from Iraq, Hetty assigns Nell to join Deeks in the field. Meanwhile, Eric is given a new partner in Ops.

See how Kensi handles being home and how well Nell & Deeks work together in the field tonight on CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing NCIS, 19 Kids & Counting, The Goldbergs, Growing Up Fisher, Trophy Wife (which is SO cute tonight, especially if you like Scandal), Chicago Fire, The Listener, & The Little Couple.

themindyproject48smallWhat a fantastic season of The Mindy Project so far. I could not love Mindy and Danny together any more if I tried. Last week, we watched as Mindy had to tell Cliff that she didn’t want to see him anymore…just after his grandmother died—yes, it was as messy and altogether hilarious as it sounds. In the second half of last week’s two-part episode, we saw Mindy trying to take it slow with Danny, not wanting to have sex right away. Danny was surprised and a little upset, especially after he saw an amateur porn video that she shot with her ex-boyfriend. In the end, it was Peter who helped Danny see that the way Mindy was behaving was because she could possibly love him. Such a great episode, and it’s about damn time they got these two together, because it is an excellent pairing.

On tonight’s back-to-back episodes, “Be Cool/Girl Crush,” Mindy and Danny try dating, but soon realize things aren’t as easy as they thought.

To see if this awesome couple can make it through, tune in to FOX at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching The Voice, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., NCIS, NCIS: LA, Glee, Chicago Fire, and The Goldbergs.

aboutaboy48smallLast week on About a Boy, Marcus insisted that he was old enough to take care of himself, but within the first few minutes of being home alone, he dropped a knife on his foot. Will took Marcus to the emergency room, where Will immediately fell for the doctor. However, when telling her about himself, he stretched the truth about his career as a songwriter, and Samantha called him out in it. But in a grand gesture, he sang her his big Christmas song in front of the entire waiting room, and she seemed to have a change of heart.

It was great to finally hear the song that made Will a one-hit-wonder. This show always makes me smile—I really enjoy the humor, and I love the buddy/father relationship between Will and Marcus, and I’m interested to see how his new relationship with Dr. Lake plays out. About a Boy has been such a fun show and a welcome addition to my Tuesday night schedule.

On tonight’s episode, “About a Poker Night,” Fiona intrudes on Will’s poker night. Meanwhile, Marcus goes on his first sleepover.

Find out how the sleepover goes tonight on NBC at 9:01/8:01c

I’ll also be watching/recording Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Goldbergs, Trophy Wife, Growing Up Fisher, Glee, The Mindy Project, Chrisley Knows Best, Face Off, and Jim Henson’s Creature Shop Challenge.
