I hope you had a good break last week, because there’s a lot more on this week. Not as busy as it will be, but still a lot on. As I write this up, I’m watching Chow Masters and waiting for my husband to get home with drinks from Sonic. It’s been a good weekend so far. 🙂 Kyle’s power was out for 5 hours tonight (Saturday night), so he’s skipping the Remote. Megan & I are here to give you our recommendations, though, so check ’em out. 🙂
Jenny’s Choice #1
My first pick tonight is the season premiere of Food Network Star. It’s no secret that I love cooking competition shows, and this is one of the great ones. Twelve contestants join mentors Alton Brown, Giada De Laurentiis, and Bobby Flay to compete in challenges designed to whittle the list down to the top spot, which will earn them their own show on Food Network. I love this show because there’s usually a wide variety of talent and personalities, and sometimes, those personalities clash, making it quite exciting. *laugh*
On tonight’s episode, “Hollywood Calling,” the mentors help prepare the finalists for their big debut at a Hollywood Premier Party, where each contestant must prepare and present one party appetizer to Food Network executives Bob Tuschman and Susie Fogelson, as well as Hollywood insiders, including E!’s Ross Mathews, who help decide which contestants have a shot at becoming a Food Network Star. One finalist’s dream ends here, and the remaining 11 continue their Star journey.
Meet the twelve contestants and pick your favorite tonight on Food Network at 9/8c.

I really enjoy watching Cutthroat Kitchen, not only because of the cooking side of it, but because of the insane sabotages. One of my favorite sabotages is when they have their stoves/ovens replaced with other heat sources—like a candle—because what’s more important to cooking than heat? The chefs usually take everything in stride and still manage to make decent dishes, but I love watching the stress and bickering in the kitchen.
On tonight’s episode, “Judging Judges,” the chefs (Cutthroat Kitchen judges Geoffrey Zacharian, Jet Tila, Simon Majumdar, & Antonia Lofaso!) must purchase tickets in a meatball lottery, before cooking with one hand literally tied behind their back.
To see which chef can beat the odds, tune in to Food Network at 10/9c.
I’ll also be watching Game of Thrones, Food Network Star, Guy’s Grocery Games, Penny Dreadful, and Salem.

My second pick tonight is…surprise! A third Food Network show! LOL Guy’s Grocery Games is always a lot of fun. Guy Fieri (Season 3 Food Network Star winner!) is probably my favorite TV host from all genres. He’s got a great sense of humor, makes both the audience (and the people he’s with) comfortable, and just makes you want to tune in. The challenges on this show are fun and make you go, “Huh? How in the world…?” but it amazes me how well some of those contestants do!
On tonight’s episode, “Food Network Stars Take Over Flavortown,” four Food Network Star chefs (Jeff Mauro, winner of Season 7; Aaron McCargo Jr., winner of Season 4; Justin Warner, winner of Season 8; & Melissa d’Arabian, winner of Season 5 and often-times a judge on Guy’s Grocery Games) take to the aisles to compete on behalf of their favorite charity.
Let us know who you’re rooting for (Go Jeff or Melissa!) and then see who wins tonight on Food Network at 8/7c.
I’ll also be watching/DVRing Enlisted, Signed Sealed Delivered, Hungry Investors, Cutthroat Kitchen, Salem, & Kitchen Casino.
