If We Controlled Your Remote… 6/16/14

Did everyone have a good weekend and good Father’s Day? We had a pretty relaxing weekend, although Josh worked both Saturday & Sunday. *laugh* But we still managed to spend a lot of time all together as a family, cooking dinner & watching TV. Tonight is also filled with some good TV, so if you were busy this weekend, take some time tonight to check out our recommendations with your family. 🙂

Jenny’s Choice

whoselinesmallOne of my family’s favorite shows to watch together is Whose Line is it Anyway? Cast regulars — Wayne, Colin, & Ryan — are simply perfection in improv, Aisha Tyler is a great host, and the fourth member of the cast is always a welcome, perfect addition. Their guests don’t always do well — some are too stiff or nervous or something — but sometimes, they truly fit in like they were meant to be there. And when that happens, it’s just that much more fun to watch!

On tonight’s episode, “Misha Collins,” Wayne, Colin, & Ryan are joined by comedian Brad Sherwood and special guest, actor Misha Collins (Supernatural) to perform a variety of improv games off the top of their heads.

Laugh along with me tonight on The CW at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing MasterChef, Rewrapped, American Ninja Warrior, Major Crimes, Longmire, Murder in the First, & Mystery Diners.

Megan’s Choice

masterchef2014smallMasterChef is getting really serious with their competition level, especially after last week’s enormous team challenge. The two teams had to feed 500 soldiers out in the training field, and the red team ended up coming in for the win. At first, it looked like the blue team was going to win because the red team was having issues getting their meat cooked properly, but once the red team worked out that issue, they were by far the tastier plate. Honestly, I would not have picked chicken to cook for soldiers like the blue team did. I would have gone with beef. It’s a much safer and tastier choice for a large group. After the red team cleaned up in the group challenge, the blue team had to face the pressure test, and I give Daniel so much credit for staying down to do the pressure test with his team, because that’s what a leader does. Kudos! After a blueberry pie bake-off, we saw Stephanie go home with her horrible attempt at a blueberry pie with pecans. I know… Nasty! Overall, it was an eventful episode that really drew attention to the chefs’ weaknesses at baking and their ability to perform under pressure.

On tonight’s episode, “Top 18 Compete,” in their second mystery box challenge this season, the competition livens up when the Top 18 contestants take on an intimidating seafood challenge. The winner of the mystery box will have a significant advantage in the next round and determine which classic dessert the remaining contestants will have to prepare in the elimination round.

To see which contestants face elimination tonight, tune in to FOX at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching Whose Line is it Anyway?, Mistresses, 24: Live Another Day, Switched at Birth, and The Fosters.

Kyle’s Choice

switchedatbirth616smallTonight, Switched at Birth returns to ABC Family for its third season summer premiere. In the last episode, Toby realized a remote relationship wasn’t going to work out with his wife, and he decided to head to Iceland. Meanwhile, Daphne realized she wanted to be a doctor after saving the life of her former attacker at the clinic. And Emmett went to meet his online girlfriend Mandy for the first time, only to discover he was being catfished by Matthew. Bay found the beaten Emmett in the park, and the two started to get it on.

I really hate when TV shows do this… Bay was just starting to have a great relationship with Tank, only to throw it all away by (likely) sleeping with Emmett. I mean how often does this kind of stuff actually happen in real life?! Because it seems like it happens all the time on TV! I look forward to seeing what happens with all the other story lines, but I hope they sweep this Bay/Emmett development under the rug and move away from it quickly.

On tonight’s episode, “Love Among the Ruins,” Melody wants to put an end to Emmett getting bullied by Matthew. Meanwhile, Bay feels torn between her feelings for Emmett and Tank; and Daphne is determined to hunt down the individual who vandalized Regina’s studio.

Find out where the relationships and mysteries stand tonight on ABC Family at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/recording MasterChef, 24: Live Another Day, Rewrapped, Major Crimes, and Murder in the First.
