I’m a little behind on TV, so I just watched TNT’s The Last Ship. Really a great premiere setting up what should be a fantastic series. There’s some more good stuff on tonight, including several premieres, so to help you narrow it down, check out our picks for the night.

NBC’s latest cop drama, Taxi Brooklyn, stars Chyler Leigh, from Grey’s Anatomy. She plays hard-as-nails Det. Caitlyn “Cat” Sullivan, a woman hell-bent on finding her father’s killer. After she’s demoted to foot patrol for reckless driving, disobeying orders, and personality conflicts, she meets taxi driver Leo Romba (Jacky Ido). A highly skilled driver, Leo is a charming French African from Marseille. Realizing Leo lied on his immigration forms, Cat offers him a deal: In exchange for his driving skills and taxi, she will help Leo with his immigration problem. In order to stay out of prison and avoid deportation, Leo agrees to partner with Cat and quickly becomes her personal driver, consultant, and friend as they race through the streets of New York solving cases and trying to uncover the mystery behind her father’s murder. It also stars Ally Walker (Profiler, The Protector) & Jennifer Esposito (Blue Bloods).
I love the premise of this, and the preview looked really good. Plus, Chyler Leigh is adorable, and I love Ally Walker and Jennifer Esposito, so I’m excited about the cast. Just like I’ve been jonesing for a good action movie recently, since the regular season ended, I’ve missed a good cop show that isn’t quite as focused on relationships. Hopefully, this one will fill the void.
On tonight’s episode, “Pilot,†when Det. Caitlyn Sullivan is demoted to foot patrol for her reckless driving and a propensity for disobeying orders, she is forced to make a deal with a former wheelman turned taxi driver named Leo to help her solve the murder of her father.
See how Det. Sullivan handles her demotion tonight on NBC at 10:01/9:01c.
I’ll also be watching/DVRing So You Think You Can Dance, Young & Hungry, Mystery Girls, Restaurant Stakeout, Hot in Cleveland, Motive, & Jennifer Falls.

Tonight is the series premiere of Young & Hungry, starring the adorable Emily Osment (Hannah Montana) and produced by Ashley Tisdale (High School Musical). This cute show follows Gabi (Osment), a young food blogger attempts to be the personal chef for the cute and wealthy entrepreneur Josh (Jonathan Sadowski). Gabi runs into all sorts of amusing situations along the way to becoming his chef and after, as well. This show gives us a new comedy to enjoy, and I’m hoping that it delivers like some of the other ABC Family comedies have.
On tonight’s premiere, “Pilot,” Gabi is desperate for the job and must prove herself, mostly to Josh’s aide Elliot (Rex Lee), who prefers a famous chef for the job. When Josh enlists Gabi to prepare a romantic meal for him and his girlfriend, the dinner goes awry, and Gabi finds herself in a very awkward position. With the help of her best friend Sofia (Aimee Carrero) and Josh’s housekeeper, Yolanda (Kym Whitley), Gabi turns a difficult situation into an opportunity for employment and maybe even love.
To see if this show is for you, tune in to ABC Family at 8/7c.
I’ll also be watching So You Think You Can Dance, Taxi Brooklyn, and Big Brother.

You know summer has arrived once a new crop of houseguests enter the Big Brother house. I can’t believe this will be the show’s 16th season! It seems not that long ago that I was watching the very first group of contestants enter the house—way before the Golden Power of Veto and many of the other twists they’ve added over the years! This year, they’re shaking things up with dual Head of Households, an interactive “Team America” element, and a new “Battle of the Block” competition. But what I find most exciting is that CBS is finally airing the series in HD! I can’t wait to meet the new contestants, see the new house, and see how the show looks in wide-screen—there will be no place for these houseguests to hide!
On tonight’s premiere, the 16th season begins with the houseguests being introduced and entering the compound.
Meet the houseguests tonight on CBS at 8/7c.
I’ll also be watching/recording Taxi Brooklyn, Young & Hungry, Mystery Girls, Wilfred, Suits, and Graceland.
