San Diego Comic-Con was a lot of fun. This year, I did around 18 press rooms and just a single panel, so it was a very different—and somewhat more relaxing—experience. However, now I have a TiVo that’s almost at capacity and a lot of videos to edit and photos to post! There’s a lot of things on TV tonight, and we’ve got a few suggestions as to what you should check out. [Side note from Jenny: We’ll be taking a couple of weeks off from the Remote posts, gearing up for the end of the summer season and beginning of the new fall season. There are a few big episodes in those two weeks, so we’ll pop up here and there, but don’t worry… We’ll be back on Sunday, August 17, to the regular Remote postings. And don’t worry, I’ll still be posting the weekly & daily schedules!]
Last week on Dominion, Michael wanted Alex to kill the 8-Ball that possessed Claire’s mother’s body. However, Alex couldn’t bring himself to do it. Instead, he showed Claire, who was initially in denial that her mother was still in the body. Alex was able to excise the angel, and Claire was reunited with her mother, but this was short-lived as her mother’s soul disappeared shortly afterwards. Claire was wrecked and immediately confronted her father about the situation, telling him that he will step down from his position immediately following the wedding. She then returned to the body and suffocated it while singing the lullaby her mother used to sing to her as a child. Meanwhile, William Whele forced his father to go through the initiation ceremony for Gabriel’s cult of followers.
Including tonight, there are just 3 episodes left to the season! Where does the show go from here? How will going through the trauma of gaining and losing her mother change Claire? Will General Riesen step down like his daughter demanded? And is David Whele really one of Gabriel’s followers now?
If you will be watching tonight’s Syfy lineup, be sure to check out my San Diego Comic-Con press room coverage for Defiance and Dominion for some fun interviews with the cast and creators of these shows.
On tonight’s episode, “Ouroboros,” Alex is called upon by Michael to help prevent any further casualties after innocent higher angels turn up dead in Vega; at the same time, Gabriel causes tension by revealing a long-hidden secret; William “re-educates” his father; and Noma reignites an old flame.
Find out what secret Gabriel reveals tonight on Syfy at 9/8c.
I’ll also be watching/recording Big Brother, The Quest, Rookie Blue, Welcome to Sweden, Working the Engels, Married, You’re the Worst, MythBusters, Rush, Satisfaction, and Defiance.

Tonight is the series premiere of a new reality-based competition series, The Quest. From ABC, it “combines harrowing and intense competition challenges, narrative storytelling and cutting edge special effects and prosthetics to conjure an immersive fantasy environment.” Twelve real people leave their everyday lives and go to a fantasy world, where they’re declared Paladins, defenders of a noble cause. The Paladins must compete to save the besieged kingdom of Everealm, but only one will prevail and earn the right to be called the One True Hero. Haxan Films freated an elaborate & full mythology, Spectral Motion created the animatronic creatures, and NuFormer did the real-time 3D projection mapping.
It’s either going to be amazing fun…or a ridiculous bomb. The twelve “players” include men and women from a 22-year-old student from Little Rock, Arkansas, to two 41-year-olds—a high-school math teacher from Joliet, Illinois, and a marketing director from Nashua, New Hampshire. Only looking at the stats of the players, I’m rooting for 31-year-old mother and homemaker, Jasmine Kyle from Media, Pennsylvania, and 22-year-old Jim Curry. We’ll see if my feelings change once I see them in action!
On tonight’s episode, “The Quest Begins,” a dozen unlikely, everyday heroes meet in a fully immersive realm, relying on their physical stamina, intelligence, and resourcefulness to stand out as the one true hero in the battle of good and evil that is to come.
Meet all twelve “Paladins” and see the exciting new kingdom of Everealm tonight on ABC at 8/7c.
I’ll also be watching/DVRing Rookie BLue, Working the Engels, Beat Bobby Flay, Last Comic Standing, Pawnography, & World Food Championships.
Right from the first episode, I have been loving Rookie Blue this season. We have not been focusing solely on cases or relationships, but a very strong balance of both, making it a very well-rounded and entertaining season. Last week, we got a glimpse into Sam’s life when the case led them to the prison to interview Sam’s father, despite his best efforts to keep Andy away from him. She ended up meeting him and assured Sam that she still loved him and he was nothing like his father. What a good episode. I’m curious as to how long they’ll be able to keep Sam and Andy interesting this season, but so far so good.
On tonight’s episode, “Deal with the Devil,” Oliver refuses Inspector Jarvis’s offer to be Staff Sergeant until he learns that Professional Standards has arrived for Duncan’s dismissal; Duncan gives evidence against Andy in his hearing that leads Oliver to reconsider the Inspector’s proposition.
To see exactly how bad this case against Andy is, tune in to ABC at 9/8c.
I’ll also be watching The Quest, Gang Related, Beat Bobby Flay, Leah Remini: It’s All Relative, and Last Comic Standing.
