We’re back! (Well, Kyle & I are, anyway… Megan will be back tomorrow!) It was a good sort of mini-vacation from the Remote posts. As you could see by the lack of posts that we meant to do, we were enjoying our time off. Sorry about that! Hope you found all the great new episodes regardless! On that note, there are two premieres that Kyle & I want to talk about for tonight, so read on to see what we’re recommending.

My pick tonight is the season premiere of Rachael vs. Guy: Kids Cook-Off on Food Network. I adored this show last season. Eight kids are split into two teams and mentored by either Rachael Ray or Guy Fieri. Just like MasterChef Junior, the talent these kids bring is beyond amazing. Last season, one of my favorites, an adorable little boy named Brandon, won, but all the kids were great. This season, I can’t wait to meet the little chefs, the youngest of which is only 9 years old! No matter who wins, though, it’ll be a fun season of different challenges, great guest judges, and some amazing talents as these kids push their kitchen chops past their limits. And since no one goes home — scores are kept in a running tally through the competition and the highest total wins at the end of the season — it’ll be easy to get to know the kids and pick your favorite.
On tonight’s episode, “Street Food Showdown,” eight young chefs arrive at the kitchen and are presented with their first Mini Challenge, in which they must make a family-favorite meal; in the Main Challenge, they must create a unique street food dish and present it in their Camera Challenge.
See what dishes the kids make tonight on Food Network at 8/7c.
I’ll also be watching/DVRing Flipping the Block, The Great Food Truck Race, Hungry Investors, The Last Ship, The Musketeers, Unforgettable, Cutthroat Kitchen, & Reckless.

Tonight, another season of The Great Food Truck Race revs up on Food Network. Host Tyler Florence is back, and once again, 8 teams of food truck rookies will battle it out across the country to see who will win their very own food truck. This season, the trucks include Beach Cruiser — SoCal cuisine from a surfer and her chef buddies; Chatty Chicken — a father, son & daughter who used to have a roadside restaurant; Gourmet Graduates — a trio of fresh culinary school grads; Let There Be Bacon — best friends from Cleveland; Lone Star Chuck Wagon — a BBQ champ, his wife and their best friend; Madres Mexican Meals — a Mexican chef along with his wife and mother; Middle Feast — an Israeli chef, his sister and friend; and Military Moms — a trio of military wives.
It sounds like a great mix of cuisines and personalities this season. I’m looking forward to seeing what they cook up and what types of curves Tyler is going to throw at them. I really like that they went with rookies again this year. It always seemed a bit unfair to have pros in the mix, who were able to call in favors from connections or devoted customers.
On tonight’s episode, “Venice Beach Brawl,” eight teams arrive in Santa Barbara, California, where their first challenge is to define their brand and create a signature dish.
To see which team is the first to go home, tune in to Food Network at 9/8c.
I’ll also be watching/recording Big Brother, The Strain, Rachael vs. Guy: Kids Cook-Off, The Last Ship, Falling Skies, True Blood, and The Leftovers.
