If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/1/14

I’m running on fumes, so not sure how coherent this will be… At least the lack of sleep means I’ve had plenty of time to keep up with all the new TV! Hopefully I won’t fall behind tonight, since I’m almost positive I’ll be going to bed early. LOL So check out what we’re recommending to help you decide in case you don’t have enough time in the day either…

Jenny’s Choice

stalker1001smallMy pick tonight is the series premiere of Stalker. This new procedural drama stars Maggie Q (Nikita) as Lt. Beth Davis & Dylan McDermott (Hostages, American Horror Story, Dark Blue, & The Practice to name a few…) as Det. Jack Larsen, police detectives working in the Threat Assessment Unit of the LAPD, alongside Det. Ben Caldwell (Victor Rasuk, How to Make It In America) and Det. Janice Lawrence (Mariana Klaveno, Devious Maids). They investigate stalking incidents—including voyeurism, cyber harassment, and romantic fixation.

When I first heard about this show, I was stoked. It’s a police drama, which I love. It has both Maggie Q & Dylan McDermott, who I adore. I liked the pilot, but unfortunately, I didn’t LOVE it like I did quite a few others. It’s still worth a rewatch for me and a recommendation to you because I think it has potential. Both Davis & Larsen have backgrounds that give them a…unique perspective on the job in the Threat Assessment Unit. I liked her character a lot when I watched the pilot. His, I’m not sure about yet. I’m really hoping he’ll grow on me, because I really want to like the show. Even though my review isn’t as glowing as it could be, don’t let that stop you from checking it out tonight!

On tonight’s episode, “Pilot,” Lt. Beth Davis and Det. Jack Larsen search for a stalker with an affinity for fire. Also, Beth meets with an exasperated college student who claims his former roommate is aggressively harassing him. Michael Grant Terry (Bones), Torrey DiVitto (Pretty Little Liars, Army Wives, The Vampire Diaries), Eric Lange (The Bridge, Victorious, ), Audrey Wasilewski (Big Love), Daren Kagasoff (The Secret Life of the American Teenager), Merle Dandridge (Star-Crossed, Sons of Anarchy), & John M. Jackson (JAG) guest star.

Check out the latest in cop dramas tonight on CBS at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Hell’s Kitchen, The Mysteries of Laura, The Goldbergs, Criminal Minds, Law & Order: SVU, Modern Family, Mystery Diners, black-ish, Chicago PD, Top Chef Duels, & Wahlburgers.

criminalminds1001smallCriminal Minds returns tonight for its tenth season, which is incredible and so very exciting for those of us who have been fans since the beginning. One of the things that keeps me coming back isn’t just the amazing writing or the way this shows creeps me out with the UnSub every week, but it’s the cast. This cast has a connection and a cohesiveness that really translates on the screen week after week. Of course, it’s no secret that Derek and Garcia are my favorite, but I have to say that the show wouldn’t be complete without any of them. When we last saw the team, they were fighting to protect themselves, with even Garcia having to take arms to protect Reid. I was so proud of her because her strength is seen behind a keyboard, not in the field, but Baby Girl did great! This season, we’re adding a new agent, with Jennifer Love Hewitt (The Client List, Ghost Whisperer, Party of Five) joining the cast, and I’m a little nervous but mostly excited to see where this new addition takes us.

On tonight’s episode, “X,” the BAU team investigates a series of murders in Bakersfield, California, which have left the victims unidentifiable. Also, the team welcomes new agent Kate Callahan, who assists them in their efforts in solving the cases. Kerr Smith (Dawson’s Creek also guest stars.

To get back in the groove of things with our favorite BAU team, tune in to CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching Hell’s Kitchen, The Mysteries of Laura, The Goldbergs, Modern Family, Red Band Society, Law & Order: SVU, black-ish, Chicago PD, Stalker, and Nashville.

Kyle’s Choice

thegoldbergs1001smallThe Goldbergs was one of my favorite new comedies last year, and I was really happy to see it renewed, where many others were not as lucky. In last week’s episode, Adam’s mother found the mix tape he made for his girlfriend but thought “You’re the Inspiration” was meant for her. Adam didn’t want to hurt his mother’s feelings, so he went along with it, but this led to a really awkward encounter when Dana heard Beverly play “her” mix tape in the car while on a date with Adam. This show is always so much fun—whether it’s some crazy situation the wacky members of the Goldberg family get up to, or just some good old 80s nostalgia, this series always leaves me with a smile! It’s one of the highlights of ABC’s hilarious Wednesday comedy block!

On tonight’s episode, “Mama Drama,” Adam auditions for the school musical but gets cast in a non-leading role, so Beverly offers him a spot in a competing show. Elsewhere, Barry takes issue with Murray’s habit of leaving sporting events early in order to beat traffic.

Find your funny bone tonight watching ABC at 8:30/7:30c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Survivor, Criminal Minds, Stalker, The Middle, Modern Family, black-ish, The Mysteries of Laura, Red Band Society, The League, Top Chef Duels, Legends, and Franklin & Bash.
