If We Controlled Your Remote… 6/5/11

First, I’d like to wish my nephew a very happy 6th birthday! Makes me teary eyed, because it means in a couple of weeks, my baby girl is going to be 6 years old, too… She’s growing up so fast. 🙂

Let’s all welcome Jason (@theTVaholic) back to guest post with us. He always has some great insight, so we’re thrilled to have him.

Now, back to TV land… This week is much busier than last week, with a bunch of season and series premieres to help jump start our summer schedule. Let’s take a look at what you should be watching.

Megan’s Choice

Vampires have been in the spotlight for quite a while now. Why shouldn’t werewolves get a piece? 😉 Tonight is the series premiere of Teen Wolf on MTV. Scott was just a regular guy until he was bitten and his life was changed forever. Now he has to deal with life and learning how to control his urges, because if he doesn’t, they’ll control him. Will the bite end up being a gift? Or will it be a curse? In time, he’ll learn if he should embrace his new powers,or if he should be afraid of them.

On the premiere episode, an unpopular teen (Tyler Posey) reluctantly goes into the woods one night with his best friend, and while there, they encounter a strange creature in the dark. He narrowly escapes an attack, but sustains a vicious bit in his side.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/21/11

TGIF! There’s something magical about Fridays isn’t there? I’m so excited for the weekend to be here, and hopefully I’ll get a day to sleep in… high hopes. 🙂 Well, besides the happy thought of sleep, tonight is bringing us some great new television. Megan’s Choice

Tonight is the season premiere of Kitchen Nightmares, and I’m so excited. Earlier this week, I got a chance to interview Gordon Ramsay, so keep your eyes on the site in the next couple days to read that interview. Ramsay is excited for this season of Kitchen Nightmares, and he really enjoyed helping all the businesses. I love this show, especially watching people’s reactions to the truth about their food.

On tonight’s season premiere, Chef Ramsay visits the Spanish Pavillion in Harrison, N.J. He finds the family-owned eatery has bickering owners, undercooked food, and an outdated atmosphere.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/20/11

Holy crap, it’s cold! We got hit with another bout of snow yesterday, and by 5:00, they had cancelled school for today. I’m inside, and I can’t stop shivering! What will warm me up? Well, a blanket or the heater, but new TV does a lot, too. 😉 It’s a pretty busy night tonight, with lots of great stuff on. What do we think you should watch? Check it out now!

Jenny’s Choice

Since Megan is doing USA’s new drama, and Lisa is doing my favorite comedy on TV right now, (I could have picked NBC’s new comedy, Perfect Couples, but I’ve not heard much about it, and I’m not sure I trust a brand new comedy on NBC without seeing it myself first!), my choice is one I adore and I think more people would like if they gave it a chance. The Mentalist from CBS is a great drama with some fantastic moments of amusement. Aussie Simon Baker plays a brilliant Patrick Jane, who is honestly one of my favorite characters on TV. He never fails to entertain.

On tonight’s episode, Jane and the CBI team butt heads with a scientific criminal profilers in efforts of solving a double murder. Both Jane and the profiler compete to try to prove to each other that their methods are far more superior than their mutual counterpart in solving the case.

Well, the profiler will be no Derek Morgan, but it still should make for a great episode! Don’t miss it tonight on CBS at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of The Mentalist @ Clicker.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/19/11

This is my 2nd busiest night of TV this week, and it truly is crazy again. Therefore, we’re giving you extra again. I’m giving you 2 choices, Megan is giving you 2, and Lisa & Jason will also be chiming in with their recommendations. No need for applause. We’re generous like that. 😉

Jenny’s Choice #1

While I wish I could recommend my wonderful Criminal Minds tonight (Watch! It’s a big episode for Reid!), or the new Restaurant Impossible with Robert Irvine on Food Network, or the fantastic comedy block on ABC, I can’t. My first choice? The season premiere of TV Land’s original, Hot in Cleveland. The ladies on this series are brilliantly funny, including the incomparable Betty White, who is as funny now as she was in Golden Girls years ago. This is a fun little comedy, with some great storylines, great chemistry between the cast, and I love that it comes from TV Land, a network not known for its original shows. On last season’s finale, Elka was arrested for having stolen goods in her cellar.

On tonight’s season premiere, the ladies try to bail Elka out of jail; the INS delivers a letter to Joy, who has a shocking encounter with one of her neighbors, Melanie dates a policeman who makes a negative impression on her friends; Victoria’s financial worth plummets.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/18/11

Whew, what a week! It’s only Tuesday, but last night’s TV wore me out! There was SO much on! There’s not as many brand new shows on tonight, but there are still a ton, so let’s just jump into it. Be sure and let us know what you’re going to watch tonight!

Jenny’s Choice

Since Megan is doing my other favorite of tonight’s new shows, I chose NCIS. I love the spinoff, but I still adore the original, too. The cast is phenomenal, with fantastic chemistry and great storylines, from the personal to the professional. Mark Harmon is a natural born leader, and everyone on his team is believable and fun to watch. I enjoy it every time I watch, and I know tonight is going to be no different.

On tonight’s episode, a petty officer’s recruitment session at a college fair comes to a tragic end when he’s brutally murdered in a stairwell, prompting the NCIS team, accompanied by Dr. Mallard’s predecessor, to solve this mysterious murder. The amazing Bob Newhart is guest starring as Dr. Walter Magnus, Ducky’s predecessor.
