It’s mid-week, and we’ve started the new fall season, which is fantastic. It’s been great so far, and there’s more to come. There’s only one season premiere on tonight, but we’re here to give you our recommendations—and I have to be amused, because for all our protests, all three of us tonight picked a reality show. *snicker* 😉

Jenny’s Choice

americasgottalent2013smallIt’s been a really great season of America’s Got Talent. I’ve been sad about some of the acts that have gone home, but the six acts are all great. There’s singers Cami Bradley, Forte (my favorite singing act), & Jimmy Rose, magician Collins Key, performer/dancer Kenichi Ebina, and comedian Taylor Williamson. I’m rooting for Forte, Collins Key, Kenichi, or Taylor. If one of those four wins, I’ll be happy.

On tonight’s 2-hour episode, “Results Finale,” after a thrilling summer, season eight concludes as a winner is named and awarded the $1 million grand prize. Special musical guests round out the program before host Nick Cannon reveals which act has been voted as America’s most talented. Featuring special performances from Josh Groban, Luke Bryan, Icona Pop and Il Divo with Heather Headley.

Find out which act takes home the prize tonight on NBC at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Survivor, Mystery Diners, Thieves, Inc., Top Chef Masters, & Modern Dads.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 6/11/13

Well, we survived Monday. It was a great night of TV, with the season premiere of Major Crimes and series premiere of King & Maxwell. I loved both. What about you? As for tonight, besides basketball, it’s the season premiere of Pretty Little Liars as well as some other great episodes. So Kyle & I are here to recommend two shows for you. 😉

Jenny’s Choice

americasgottalent2013smallLast week’s premiere of America’s Got Talent was great. I love this group of judges—Heidi Klum & Mel B were a great fit with Howard & Howie—and I loved that we saw more good acts than bad. Sure, we saw ridiculous, stupid, completely crazy acts, but for the most part, they were a lot of fun. The ten-year-old girl that sounded like the most seasoned veteran. The Southern redneck that you thought might sound like a crazy man that ended up being smooth, soulful country. Catapult, which is similar to several groups we’ve seen in the past but was still a lot of fun to watch. The dance group Hype that were cuties and seemed flippant about having thought up the routine the night before (not sure I buy that…) but ended up being really fantastic. And one of my son’s favorite acts…the orchestra that performed the fun rendition of Carly Rae Jepson’s “Call Me Maybe.” The comedienne who hadn’t been working as a comic for years was really great. Her impersonations were spot-on. Finally, Special Head. What can you say but…“HOW DID HE DO THAT?!” It was crazy! It was a great episode, and I’m looking forward to tonight’s second round of auditions.

On tonight’s episode, “Episode 2,” the season continues as the new judging panel settles in just in time to see even more acts from audition session two. Unique talents present themselves.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 6/4/13

The summer season is off to a great start. It’s a busy week for TV, but here at home, things have slowed down a lot because my kid’s out of school. That also makes it a long day for me, which means the busy TV is great. 😉 So let’s see what we’re all recommending tonight.

Jenny’s Choice #1

americasgottalent2013smallTonight is the eighth season premiere of America’s Got Talent, and it’s gonna be a little different. Sharon Osbourne left the show after last season, and this season, it’ll be Howard Stern & Howie Mandel joined by former Spice Girl Mel B and supermodel TV host Heidi Klum at the judges’ table, with Nick Cannon returning as host. I wasn’t thrilled with the dog act winning last season, although they were good. But the show is still quite enjoyable to watch. 🙂

On tonight’s episode, “Premiere,” new judges Heidi Klum and Mel B join veteran judges Howard Stern and Howie Mandel to begin the audition process for season eight. Auditions kick off with some of the most odd, yet extraordinary participants the show has come across in recent memory.

America’s Got Talent – 8/28/12

Because Kyle complained that America’s Got Talent was all about singing & dancing, I felt the need to highlight some of the absolute best acts from last night’s semi-final round. While, yes, there were some good singers & dancers last night, there were some amazing acts that weren’t either of those things. So check out my favorites from last night. 🙂

If We Controlled Your Remote… 5/28/12

I can’t believe that May is almost over. Summer is coming up on us quickly. This is a slow week in TV, but enjoy it because the hectic summer TV schedule is going to be on us next week! Let’s take a look at what you should be watching tonight.

Megan’s Choice

America’s Got Talent is all new this week, and I have to admit that I find Howard Stern amusing. Sure, he’s a little crass at times, but at heart, he’s a softie. There has been some odd talent this year so far – and I’m not sure what being able to withstand being hit in the testicles by a hammer has to do with talent, but it made for amusing television. (Although I’m not sure he’s ever having any more children.)

On tonight’s episode, auditions continue as Howard, Howie, Sharon, and Nick head to Tampa/St. Petersburg, Florida, with an eye out for the acts that could take the million-dollar prize.
