If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/13/12

Yesterday, the new iPhone was announced, so that means I’ll probably be staying up late tonight to try to place my pre-order as soon as it’s possible! Fall TV really started to pick up this week, and I’m already way behind—things are piling up on my TiVo. I can’t believe there’s still a couple more weeks of these trickling premieres before everything is in full swing—I don’t know how I’m going to watch it all! To help you decide what to watch tonight, here’s our recommendations.

Last night’s Big Brother was a super-sized episode. We got the Veto, Eviction, and Head of Household competition all in one night. Ian and Shane were still clueless about Dan’s plotting to get them out of the house. During the Veto competition, Ian was eliminated for not pressing his button, so he assisted Shane in order to ensure that Jenn would remain on the block. Shane won the veto, and for doing so, he also won a special trip outside the house. He chose Danielle as his guest to meet the Fierce Five and watch their gymnastics performance at the Tour of Champions. It was like a first date for the showmance couple, and Danielle fell more in love with him, worrying that she would need to choose between her alliances with Dan and Shane.

Shane, of course, used the veto to pull himself off the block, and Ian put up Danielle in his place. Jenn was voted out unanimously by Dan and Shane, becoming the fifth member of the jury. Danielle won the Head of Household competition and guaranteed herself a spot in the final three. I’m sure she is probably going to nominate Ian and Shane. Dan is willing to do anything and to throw anyone under the bus to make sure he wins. So I hope Ian can win the power of veto and keep himself in the game!

If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/6/12

I was so excited to get a “save the date” yesterday for Syfy’s annual Digital Press Tour event next month. I’ve never been invited to it before, but it always sounds like a great time. This year, they have moved it to Toronto, and it will include set visits for Warehouse 13 and the upcoming new series Defiance. I can’t wait to report back from that trip. Tonight’s new TV choices are a little slim, but we’ve got recommendations for you to check out. Next week, the fall season really starts to kick in, so enjoy this break before the madness!

On Big Brother, Ian became Head of Household and nominated Jenn and Frank. Last night, it was the veto competition, and Dan conquered Otev’s mountain to win the golden power of veto. He decided to take Jenn off the block, and Ian put up Joe as her replacement.

Both Ian and Frank gave Dan their blessing to use the Veto. I don’t understand why Frank thinks he can get the votes to stay over Joe! I really hope that Frank finally goes home tonight, quickly followed by Joe and Jenn. I would love to see Dan and Ian in the final two, with Ian taking home the prize.

In tonight’s live episode, either Frank or Joe will be evicted from the house. Plus, it’s another double-eviction episode, where a whole week’s worth of Big Brother will be played in one hour, leaving us with the final five.

See who goes home tonight on CBS at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Big Brother @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/recording Rookie Blue, Collection Intervention, Childrens Hospital, and NTSF:SD:SUV::.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 8/30/12

Good gravy, who turned up the heat?? I don’t know about you, but I’m not digging the hundred degree temperature outside again! I thought we were finished. I suppose it could be worse, though… At least I haven’t been in Isaac’s path! Still like yesterday, I’ll be planted on my couch in front of the TV tonight with the fan on. You?

You know, I realized something as I was thinking of what to write up for this post. I tend to really love shows that are just…wrong. lol There are some shows (comedies…) that are just so WRONG, they’re right. Raising Hope is a good example of a network comedy like that. But tonight, I wanted to recommend Sullivan & Son on TBS. The jokes and characters can be racist and stereotypical, but it makes me laugh. I find it amusing when it’s ON TELEVISION. I certainly don’t make those jokes in real life, and when I hear them, I don’t laugh. But on TV? the show just cracks me up. Maybe it’s wrong, but…I’m ok with that. haha

On tonight’s episode, “How Carol Got Her Groove Back,” Carol falls into a funk when she learns she’s going through menopause. In an attempt to convince Carol she’s still attractive, Ahmed crosses a line.

Laugh along with me tonight on TBS at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Sullivan & Son @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching Rookie Blue, The American Bible Challenge, Beat the Chefs, & Extreme Chef.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 8/22/12

Thank goodness my Tuesday went a hundred times better than my Monday—not that it would have been hard to do otherwise. We’re getting closer and closer to the new season of TV, and I have to say that I’m absolutely beyond excited. For the first time, I think I’m actually a TON more excited for the returning shows than I am the new ones. Yeah, I’m looking forward to some of the new shows, but…Castle, Bones, NCIS… So many of the returning ones, I just can’t wait for. But that’s in the future. There’s plenty of great TV on tonight, so check out what we think you should be watching. 🙂

I can’t help but recommend the ABC Family comedies again tonight. It’s been a bit since I did that, but really, they are ones I look forward to every week. Starting off the night is a new episode of Melissa & Joey. Last week was great because we figured out Joe was in a “relationship” with a co-worker of sorts from Russia. He was working with companies overseas as a kind of consultant, and she was…kind of the Russian Joe Longo in the group. They had a date after their work meeting, and that was cute. Then she surprised him by showing up at the house, having flown over from Russia to surprise him. She sure surprised Mel, who didn’t know she existed! The other really hysterical part of the episode was Ryder giving himself a hickey with the vacuum cleaner while trying to clean up crumbs from his snack.

On tonight’s episode, “From Russia with Love,” Mel is irritated with Joe’s visiting girlfriend, Elena, when she starts monopolizing him, leaving little time for the rest of his duties. However, Mel soon befriends her, which leads to trouble between Elena and Joe. But then problems arise back in Russia, leading Elena to rely on Mel and Joe even more. Meanwhile, Ryder volunteers to help Lennox with an experiment, which requires him to only eat vending machine food, but he soon regrets his helpfulness.

See it tonight on ABC Family at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of Melissa & Joey @ Clicker.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 7/26/12

Yesterday while grocery shopping, I broke out into random dancing with my kids in the middle of the store. Sometimes, you just have to embrace random joys because they are what makes life amusing. 🙂 Now for tonight’s dose of joy, let’s see what TV has to offer!

Megan’s Choice

For my last suggestion of the week, I’m going to venture into the reality dating world yet again with the new CBS show, 3. This new dating show follows April Francis (29 years old), Rachel Harley (34 years old), and Libby Lopez (24 years old) as they meet up for the first time with the common goal of finding true love. During their journey, the women meet almost 100 men before they begin to narrow down the list. As we watch the search for a partner, they will share their lives and emotionally support one another during the dating and decision process.

Yes, it’s true my taste has been a bit obscure lately, but what can I say… I’m starting to be amused by the way these people behave while searching for “true love” on national television. *shrug* I can also be found slack-jawed and people watching at the mall. Come on, now… People are incredibly amusing! (Kyle, no judgment! :D)

On tonight’s series premiere, April, Rachel, and Libby meet for the first time in a luxurious lakeside home in Chicago; emotions run high as the women meet eligible bachelors from across the country.

To see if this train wreck’s for you, tune in to CBS at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of 3 @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/DVRing Rookie Blue, Big Brother, Saving Hope, and Awkward.
