If We Controlled Your Remote… 7/22/13

I got to have a wonderful weekend away for my birthday and to celebrate my engagement—it’s been an eventful time around here. If you get a chance to come to Canada, I highly recommend heading to Gananoque to experience the small-town charm, then taking the ferry over to explore the Thousand Islands (which actually sit on the border of New York and Ontario). Overall, it’s been a fantastic time with good food, great company, and even some down time to sit and watch a few great shows. Speaking of great shows, let’s see what you should be watching tonight.

breakingpointesmallBreaking Pointe returns tonight with the second season premiere, and I’m quite excited. The dancers were all in different phases of their careers and love life. The hardest part of last season was watching the dancers learn about their fate in the company, and when they didn’t make it, I really felt their sadness.

On tonight’s premiere, “It’s Not Brain Surgery, It’s Ballet,” the Ballet West dancers return from winter break and begin tryouts for “Cinderella.” Famed former ballet dancer Wendy Ellis Somes arrives to assist Artistic Director Adam in the audition process. With her partner Ronnie out with a foot injury, Beckanne begins to feel the pressure during tryouts. Meanwhile, Allison is torn between staying with Ballet West or moving on. After a night of partying, Zach and Beckanne have a falling out, and Ronnie gets some disturbing news from his doctor that could change the rest of his life.

To watch the dancers put their best efforts into wearing the glass slipper, tune in to The CW at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching The Bachelorette, American Ninja Warrior, Mistresses, and Get Out Alive.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 7/5/12

Hope all the fellow Americans had a great 4th of July yesterday! I had a pretty good day. Spent time with the family, had a great dinner of hamburgers, sausage, & corn on the cob on the grill, and watched The Matrix 3, since my kiddo had never seen it. It’s back to work today, but thankfully, it’s only a short rest of the week because of yesterday, so… Settle in tonight, relax, and know you don’t have much left of the work week. 🙂 Now, see what we think you should be watching tonight!

Last week’s Rookie Blue was kind of tough to watch. Our poor non-rookie rookies had a rough go of it. Traci screwed up on her first case as a detective-in-training, but then she went on to solve the case with the help of several of the others. She and Jerry are definitely having problems working together. Poor Dov is feeling so guilty about the shooting. He went to give groceries to the boy’s family, and when the sister caught him, he tried to make it up to her by driving her around…but she really just wanted him to explain about that day. It didn’t work out for her, but he seemed to feel better at the end of the episode…until he lied to his girlfriend about going to his appointment with the shrink. She had just received a phone call saying he’d missed his appointment, so she knew he’d lied. It’ll be interesting to see how Dov continues to handle (or not…) the aftereffects of it all. Noelle’s pregnancy & father of the baby has been outed—to Oliver, at least. And Sam and Andy had some cute moments. I love how they are a couple now, yet the show hasn’t become the lovey-dovey “Sandy” show. Those cute moments are enough (for the most part) for this Sam/Andy shipper. 😉

I’m really looking forward to tonight’s episode because we dive deep into Andy’s personal life. I can’t wait to see how she handles seeing her mother. Will Sam help her with it all? Will Traci?

On tonight’s episode, “Messy Houses,” Andy answers a domestic disturbance call to find the social worker on the scene is her estranged mother; Sam, Nick, Chris and Gail search for a mother and her two children; a stash of guns recovered by Detective Barber turns up on the streets. Barbara Williams, Peter MacNeill, Krista Bridges, & Jonathan Goad guest star.

Don’t miss it tonight on ABC at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Rookie Blue @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/DVRing Duets, Take Me Out, Chef Wanted with Anne Burrell, & Men at Work.

If We Controlled Youre Remote… 6/21/12

Can I just say a few things about last night’s Vegas episode of So You Think You Can Dance? One, I know my favorite girl of the season so far. Two, poor girl did them a favor by pairing up with a guy to perform as his partner after she’d already been put through and ended up getting kicked in the head…which impeded her performance, and she got sent home. Oh damn. And finally, three… The pop locker dude, Cyrus, is pretty cool. I don’t know how well he would do in the show, but I like him a lot. Oh, and Travis Wall? Gets hotter every time I see him. LOL But that was last night. Read on to find out what we think you should be watching tonight. 😉

The new comedy on TBS, Men at Work, wasn’t something I thought I’d stick with originally…and then I watched the premiere. I have loved every single episode. The cast is terrific (wasn’t a fan of James Lesure’s character on Mr. Sunshine, but loved him on Las Vegas, and now in this one, he’s fantastic. I really adore the other guys, too.), and the show just never fails to make me laugh. I look forward to seeing this show every week. I think my favorite episode has to be the one where Milo & Gibbs had a threesome (twice…) with a really hot chick. Or maybe it was when the guys were sure Amy was cheating on Neal. Neal confronting the blind guy was hysterical.

On tonight’s episode, “Crazy for Milo,” testing a lie-detector app reveals some tough truths for Gibbs and Tyler; Amy and Neal experiment with role-playing; Milo’s girl turns out to be a bit kooky.

Laugh along tonight on TBS at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Men at Work @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/recording Take Me Out, Burn Notice, and Saving Hope.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 6/14/12

During the fall, Thursdays are always packed with full line-ups on every channel. During the summer, Thursday has become one of the most barren nights of the week – I only counted four new scripted episodes tonight – and that includes two USA Network series that return tonight for the summer! Read on to find out what we recommend you tune in to this evening.

Kyle’s Choice

It’s been nine months since we last visited the offices of Pearson Hardman! Last season on Suits, senior attorney Harry Spencer hired whiz kid Mike Ross as a lawyer even though he didn’t actually have a law degree. Mike struggled to keep his old life and new life separate, and when he started dating his former drug-dealing best friend Trevor’s ex, Jenny, he really wanted to keep Trevor in the dark for fear what he might do. Meanwhile, Mike befriended paralegal Rachael Zane, who developed feelings for him and eventually learned Mike’s secret. While Rachel’s feelings would never allow her reveal his secret, it upset her that he was not interested in her and that he achieved a higher LSAT score without even attending law school. Also, Harvey’s jealous rival, Louis Litt, and his protege Kyle Durant don’t like Mike and suspect something is up. At the end of the season, we saw a cleaned-up, suited Trevor walking up to Jessica Pearson, Harvey’s boss, saying that he had something to tell her about Mike Ross.

So what will Trevor do? Will he reveal Mike’s secret? Or maybe he’s angling to get his own position in the firm? This is going to make me sound like a shipper, but I wish Mike would just drop Jenny and completely break away from that whole former bad life. Rachel is so much better! Whatever happens, I’m looking forward to more interesting cases and seeing where this whole secret-keeping drama goes this season.

In tonight’s episode, “She Knows,” Mike is excited to close a big case for the firm but doesn’t realize Trevor confronted Jessica. Meanwhile, Jessica’s former partner resurfaces, prompting Harvey to reconsider what he’s willing to do to protect Mike’s secret.

Check it out tonight on USA at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Suits @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/recording Men at Work, Burn Notice, and (possibly) Saving Hope.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 6/7/12

I’m so glad it’s Thursday. That means we have one more day left in the work week after today, and there’s some fantastic TV on tonight. So settle in and check out what we think you should be watching.

Last week’s Rookie Blue was great. The entire precinct was up in arms and on the hunt because not only were teenagers participating in an outrageous scavenger hunt, but Dov left his keys in the vehicle when he and Oliver stopped to investigate a call and their cruiser was stolen. Then Sam and Andy started chasing after a reckless driver and he got away, but the car he was in ended up having blood in it. That all led to a nearly dead bad guy who owned a garage, who had forbidden his teenage daughter from dating one of his employees. Said employee killed him after getting the scavenger hunt kids to steal a police car so he could get the gun locked inside. Once he had the gun, he went to pick up his girlfriend, but when Sam & Andy went to the school to warn her about the boy, he was already there and ended up taking her hostage. He shot all 6 shots into the air, so after once they negotiated to get him to release his girlfriend, Sam was able to walk out and talk him down, getting the gun away from him. The previews for this week’s episode looked AMAZING. I have been so excited all week waiting for it.

On tonight’s episode, “A Good Shoot,” Dov’s world explodes into chaos when he walks in on a convenience store robbery in progress – and shoots a young black teenager, who may or may not have been armed. The tight-knit community erupts in outrage as the ensuing investigation calls into question whether Dov used excessive force or acted too quickly. Filled with self-doubt, Dov is left to wonder if he operated within the guidelines or if he will be charged with murder, as 15 Division struggles to prevent a riot in the sweltering streets.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/DVRing Duets, Men at Work, Take Me Out, & the series premiere of Saving Hope.
