If We Controlled Your Remote… 12/1/14

December is here, and I’ve barely started to think about Christmas shopping. While a few of my friends are already done with theirs, I have barely started! I’ve always been a last-minute-shopping kind of girl. What about you? While I contemplate when I’m going to once again venture to the mall, let’s see what we’re recommending tonight.

Megan’s Choice

sleepyhollow121smallSleepy Hollow is pushing the boundaries every week, and last week was a whole new level of intense. Moloch is on earth! We watched as Henry used Katrina’s spell on the mirror to eavesdrop on Ichabod and Abby while they discussed the location of the sword that can actually kill Moloch. After learning the location, Henry sent the Headless horseman (aka Abraham) to retrieve the sword and kill the witnesses, but he failed. Ichabod and Abby actually used the horseman to defeat the evil guard of the sword, who turns people to stone when you make eye contact, hence using the headless horseman. With the beast dead and after Abraham headed back to Henry and Moloch after hearing the horn, Ichabod and Abby figured out that the sword needed to be taken out of the oil by both of them. Now they have the sword and must stop Moloch before the ceremony is completed with Katrina. I’m so nervous where this is going, and I am weekly shocked by the way the story line unfolds—so many times I have to watch with the lights on!

On tonight’s episode, “The Akeda,” unforeseen sacrifices must be made and loyalties are put to the ultimate test in the fight against evil.

To see where they leave us hanging with our heroes for the fall finale, tune in to FOX at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching The Voice, Castle, and State of Affairs.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 11/24/14

I started my Christmas shopping this weekend, and after a few hours at the mall, I am definitely considering online shopping for everyone just to avoid the insanity of the stores. While I sip my cup of tea and watch TV to de-stress from the debacle that is shopping, let’s see what you should be watching tonight.

sleepyhollow1124smallSleepy Hollow continues to be one of the few shows that can scare me and enthrall me week after week, and last week was no exception. We watched as Katrina cuddled the little baby who is really Moloch, and as she did, the little demon spawn caused her skin to turn black wherever she had been touched by him. She later realized what was happening and made a potion to feed to it, but when she came down to the kitchen, she found a young boy about 5 or 6 years old, rifling through the cupboards looking for food, and he turned to her and called her mother. Creepy. I really hope she can rid us of him quickly, because story lines involving children and possession scare me the most. Last week, we also watched as Abby and Jenny saw the ghost of their mother on a security tape while researching a couple of deaths at the asylum. They immediately thought she was the one trying to kill everyone, but we later learned that she was trying to protect them, much like she did for the girls when she was alive. When the girls and Hawley headed to the asylum to investigate again, we learned that it was a ghost of a nurse that was brainwashing people to commit suicide and that their mother didn’t kill herself by choice. She did it to protect them. In the end, it was a family journal that allowed them to learn how to get rid of the demon and gave them an even greater insight into their mother. Jenny performed a seance to get to talk to their mom one last time, and it really helped the girls come to terms with their childhood and realize all along their mother had been trying to protect them from the demons. I’m not sure where anyone is going to end up at the end of this season, but I am so incredibly hooked on this show. It’s become a definite must-see TV.

On tonight’s episode, “Magnum Opus,” Abbie and Ichabod are on a quest to find a weapon of ultimate power to kill Moloch–the Sword of Methuselah–before the Headless Horseman can stop them.

To see if they can get the weapon they need in time, tune in to FOX at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching Gotham, 2 Broke Girls, NCIS: LA, The Voice, Scorpion, Castle, and State of Affairs.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 11/17/14

Oh my gosh. It’s SO COLD here in Kansas. It’s only 21, feels like 12 here. There’s no snow yet—whereas my hometown in Oklahoma is off school tomorrow because of it—but still… Brrr! So I’m gonna curl up under the blanket and soak up all the great TV that’s on TV tonight. Check out what we’re recommending.

ncisla1117smallNCIS: LA is my first pick tonight. Surprise, surprise. *grin* Last week was a lot of fun, and most of that has to do with Callen. His sense of humor has really grown this season. He’s teasing Sam, cracking jokes, and just being pretty dang funny a lot more. Two other tidbits stuck out to me last week. One was the conversation between Hetty & Granger, when she asked for an update and he told her none of team seemed to be the mole. The second was Hetty’s conversation with Nell. I’m not sure what to think about that. I’m not a huge fan of Nell going out in the field. She and Eric are at their best when they’re working together in Ops—much like Kensi & Deeks, and even Sam & Callen, they play off one another perfectly. We haven’t seen much of them together this season, with Nell out in the field so much. We have four field operatives already. Why add a fifth? Occasionally, sure, like when she had to pretend to be Hetty, but… On a good note, tonight looks like it’ll be really great because there’s going to be some amazing Densi stuff. Yay!

On tonight’s episode, “The Grey Men,” Kensi and Deeks go undercover to investigate the murder of a homeless man who was a former Marine and CIA agent and discover his connection to the Mexican cartel.

See Kensi & Deeks undercover tonight on CBS at 10/9c.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 11/10/14

It has been a whirlwind of a weekend around my house, but as always, I am thankful for all that I have—even the mess from the kids. On Saturday night, we all stayed up for a family game night, which was fun but reminded me why I hate playing Monopoly: first, it takes FOREVER, and second, I always lose. Regardless, fun was had by all, but tonight, after a busy work day, I am going to be ready to chill out and watch some great television. So take a peek at what we all think you should be watching tonight.

Megan’s Choice #1

ncisla1110smallNCIS: LA is simply one of the best parts of my Monday night lately because it always manages to provide humor, suspense, and just enough personal stories to keep us interested. Last week was full of twists and turns as Sam was arrested for the murder of a bookkeeper named Leyla and the evidence against him was quite convincing. The opening scene of him being arrested was an incredible show of force to take one man into custody, and I’m not really surprised, since it was Sam and he is by all definitions as bad-ass as they come. One of my favorite parts of the episode was meeting Ray Turner, a former Navy SEAL who had taken to the Internet to call out people who were fraudulently posing as SEALs—but this guy was hilarious. It was very amusing when he gave Sam and Callen the slip by swimming back from the boat and then video calling them while standing behind them. It gave a great comic relief to a very tense episode. In the end, it turned out that it was Lee Stevens, a guy who served with Sam, who was responsible, and to say this guy looked like Sam is an understatement, because he was a full-blown doppelganger in my opinion. A great episode with a happy ending for Sam and the hope that they’ll bring back Ray for another episode.

On tonight’s episode, “Leipei,” when a man is murdered by a small drone, the team discovers his connection to a terrorist group that is planning another local attack. With time running short, Nell must use her drone expertise to try to divert a disaster in Long Beach.

To see if Nell can rise to the occasion, tune in to CBS at 10/9c.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/20/14

I love that we’re to Monday, which is my favorite day of the week for TV right now. There’s so much great TV on that I can’t help but smile. Kyle’s away for the Syfy press event, but Megan & I are here to share our picks, so check them out.

Jenny’s Choice #1

themiller1020smallTonight is the season premiere of one of my favorite new comedies last season, The Millers. In case you didn’t watch last year, here’s what you missed: Nathan was married and didn’t tell his parents he got divorced. When his parents came to visit, his happiness being away from his wife prompted his parents to get their own divorce. His overbearing mother moved in with Nathan while his quiet father moved in with Nathan’s sister and her family.

It’s really a cute show with lots of laughs, and I’m so glad it’s back. And this season, Sean Hayes has joined the cast, so that’ll be an interesting addition.

On tonight’s episode, “Movin’ Out (Carol’s Song),” Carol begins her search for a new apartment, causing Nathan and Debbie to race each other to find her a place that is the farthest away from each of them. During the course of her house-hunting, Carol meets and develops an instant bond with Kip Finkle (Hayes), her new best friend.

See how Carol and Kip meet tonight on CBS at 8:30/7:30c.
