If We Controlled Your Remote… 4/9/13

By the time tonight’s new TV rolls around, I may be right in the middle of some severe weather. So hopefully I won’t miss anything, but I may be very sad come tomorrow morning! Regardless, there’s a lot of great TV on tonight, so check out our thoughts on what you should be watching.

Jenny’s Choice

countingcars1smallMy whole family loves seeing Danny the car guy on Pawn Star$, so when we heard he was getting his own show on the History Channel, we were thrilled. We watched every episode of the first season and really enjoyed it. Danny & his crew are a lot of fun to watch, whether he’s chasing down a hot car, bringing in a heaping wreck of a car that no one thinks he can fix up, or arguing with his money man, Scott, Danny is charismatic, funny, sweet, and pretty damn sexy as he speaks “car.” (My husband & I have both said we want to marry him and have his babies. We’re a little nutty, though, so… 😉 ) Season two starts tonight, and hopefully, it’ll be a blast, just like season one.

I recently spoke to the big man himself, Danny Koker, about the new season among other things. You can check it out here: Danny Koker Interview.

On tonight’s first episode, “You Talkin’ to Me?” Danny gets sidetracked by a curious lady in a hot pink Beetle while trying to score a classic Ford Galaxie. Later, a Hollywood icon confronts Horny Mike and Roli in the shop parking lot. Will Danny be able to diffuse the situation before it gets explosive?

Then on the second episode, “Size Matters” Danny’s friend Brian has always wanted to ride a motorcycle, but has never been able due to his physical limitations. Will Danny and the guys be able to get Brian in the wind for the first time? Later, the tables are turned when a car-loving couple pulls Danny over to check out his treasured ride.

Don’t miss the start of a great new season tonight on History Channel at 9/8c & 9:30/8:30c. Learn where to find episodes online of Counting Cars @ TV.com.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 3/12/13

I finished editing a fantastic new book last night that I really loved. I wish more of my job involved books that were actually fun for me to edit… LOL Anyway, I know you aren’t here for my thoughts on my job. 😉 So read on to see what we think about tonight’s new television. 😀

thetastesmallIt’s been a fun road for new series The Taste. I have loved the idea behind the blind tasting, and I think it’s worked well. The only part I didn’t like was when the person who won immunity then really, truly DESERVED to go home later in the episode but they couldn’t because they had the immunity. Still, it’s been an enjoyable show, and watching Malarkey and Ludo go at each other like they have has been amusing. I’m pretty sure about who I want to win out of those who are left… Khristianne, from Team Malarkey, is the most qualified while being the least annoyoing. Sarah has spent too much time flirting and playing the pretty girl to Ludo’s lisciviousness. Diane is good, but she’s pretty cocky sometimes. And don’t even get me started on Gregg, who I’ve hated since the beginning for his cocky attitude and grew to dislike even more as the weeks went on.

On tonight’s episode, “The Taste Finale: Triple Threat,” after seven weeks of intense competition in the kitchen, the final four remaining participants face off to determine the ultimate winner. After a group challenge eliminates one chef, the final three prepare three dishes in less than two hours.

To see who becomes the ultimate victor tonight, tune in to ABC at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of The Taste @ TV.com.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Hell’s Kitchen, 19 Kids & Counting, Body of Proof, Cougar Town, Chopped, Justified, & Robot Combat League.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 2/26/13

I’m still getting winter here too, but not nearly as bad as Jenny. You’d think we’d get it worse, seeing as everyone assumes Canadians live in igloos and ride polar bears… In fact, we don’t ride polar bears—just moose. 😉 Now, while I amuse myself with my terrible wit, you should check out what’s on TV tonight.

smash226smallFunny thing about Smash is that at first, I was set to hate it because I was such a fan of Glee, but then I watched a few episodes and fell in love. Musical shows aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but this one has the right balance of songs, drama, comedy, and just plain entertainment. There are still a few moments of stunt casting, but if Jennifer Hudson is the stunt cast of choice, then sign me up. She was FAB-U-LOUS! I am also loving how Ivy is getting back up and going for her dream the right way instead of sabotaging Karen.

Now, let’s talk about the new sexy character of Jimmy (Jeremy Jordan, who I loved in the movie Joyful Noise)… This character is exactly what the show needed: someone to challenge Karen and make her relax a bit. It doesn’t hurt that he is super talented and has a sexy voice to match his angelic face. 😉 I am really enjoying the direction the show is going in this season, and I simply want more, more, MORE!

On tonight’s episode, “The Song,” Karen orchestrates a huge opportunity for Jimmy and Kyle; Peter challenges Julia as they continue to work together; Eileen faces a moral crossroads that has significant ramifications for Bombshell.

To see which choice Eileen makes, tune in to NBC at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Smash @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching NCIS, NCIS: LA, Golden Boy, Go On, Body of Proof, Cult, Hart of Dixie, The Mindy Project, and New Girl.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 2/19/13

Did everyone have a good day off yesterday? If you didn’t have it off, I hope you at least had a decent Monday. I did some writing, watched some TV, and enjoyed the cool, cloudy weather. I’m glad that today is a normal day, though, because the kiddo can go back to school. Yay! Finally! LOL As for tonight, there’s some great stuff on, so we’re here to tell you what we think you should be watching. 😉

bodyofproof219smallAt the end of last season of Body of Proof, I was not a happy camper. Peter had been gravely injured by a serial killer that Megan first helped put away; the man escaped prison by killing the guard who was in cahoots with him. Of course, that was after everything Peter had already been through with his girlfriend Dani dying from the whole bioterrorist attack. Poor guy just couldn’t catch a break! I hated that they left it there, with Peter in Megan’s arms, dying unless he was saved in time. Then, over the summer, we found out that not only was Nicholas Bishop (Peter) not returning, neither were John Carroll Lynch (Bud) or Sonja Sohn (Sam). I really loved Peter (although I loved him more before Dani. but whatever), so I was sad that he wouldn’t be back. And how would they write out the three characters?? It was so crazy & sad to think about.

Then I found out they had cast two new actors to play cops that work with Megan…and while I didn’t know the first guy, the second name I did know: Mark Valley. I will ALWAYS think of him as the guy from Keen Eddie, even though he’s been on other things for longer and more recently. But my hubs and I both ADORE him. THEN I heard he was going to be playing an old love interest of Megan’s and there would be a spark still, and I was even more thrilled. And I was right to be. I’ve seen the first two episodes, and they are really, really good. I will miss Peter especially, but Mark Valley’s Tommy is a welcome and fresh edition to the cast, I think.

On tonight’s episode, “Abducted, Part 1,” Megan returns to work months after the events of that fateful night, and she is surprised by a man from her past: Tommy Sullivan, the new detective assigned to her case. Megan, along with Tommy and his rookie partner, Adam Schaeffer (Elyes Gabel, Game of Thrones), must stop a serial killer whose victims are young war veterans. As she learns more about the crime, the stakes rise when she gets a call from the killer…who is holding her teenage daughter, Lacey, hostage.

Don’t miss the season premiere tonight on ABC at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Body of Proof @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing NCIS, Raising Hope, The Taste, Cult, NCIS: LA, The New Normal, Cougar Town, Justified, & Total Blackout.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 2/12/13

I love winter, but I’ve had ENOUGH snow! Insanity was my friend while I drove in that mess of a storm on Friday—took me almost 7 hours to get somewhere that should have taken me 3 hours. Yeah, I am certifiable. Then yesterday, they canceled my daughter’s school again because of freezing rain. I’m done… Bring on spring!! To amuse myself and take my mind off this ridiculous weather, I am going to kick back and relax with some good TV. Here’s what you should be watching.

Megan’s Choice

thetastesmallThere really isn’t much on tonight (except of course for the State of the Union 2013), but I’m going to amuse myself with The Taste. I wasn’t sure I liked this show in the beginning, but I have a weakness for cooking competitions, mostly because I like to watch and think about how much better I’d be at it if I entered the contest myself. Yes, I’m pretty confident in my skills, but I’d love to be mentored by a professional chef, especially one as sexy as Ludo Lefebvre. So far, the competition has just begun, but I’m interested to see how well these competitors continue to do under the extreme pressure that is building, I suppose only time will tell!

On tonight’s episode, “Daring Pairings,” each team must use five unique ingredients as it tries to create the best dish; each contestant has to prepare a dish that pairs best with the selected wine.

To see who makes taste buds dance and who makes them die, tune into ABC at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of The Taste @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching Pretty Little Liars.
