If We Controlled Your Remote… 11/2/14

We have indeed seen more cancellations…nearly 2 1/2 months after the season starts. A to Z and Bad Judge were both cancelled by NBC. Seems like they’ll finish airing their filmed episodes, as of this moment, anyway. We’ll see. As for tonight, Kyle & I have some recommendations for what to watch that don’t include those two shows. *grin*

Jenny’s Choice

csi1026smallI wrote this up for last week, but because football ran over so late, it didn’t air. So you get my lovely view again because I’m still recommending it. 😉

CSI is my pick for tonight because I do love it, and tonight looks like it’ll be a fun episode. The last new ep was great too—a chemistry teacher was killed accidentally when the killer—another teacher at the school and a mother to one of the students—was trying to kill a student. She was part of a group of Wiccans and hoped (believed?) that she could cast a spell using the other kid’s blood that would heal her son, who was very, very sick. It was an incredibly sad but a really great episode.

On tonight’s episode, “Girls Gone Wilder,” Morgan, Sidle, and Finlay try to relax at a forensics conference when a mass shooting occurs on site.

See the women go wild tonight on CBS at 10:30/9:30c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing America’s Funniest Home Videos, Guy’s Grocery Games, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Catch a Contractor, & Cutthroat Kitchen.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/26/14

What a World Series it’s been. Talk about a nail biter! My Royals are still in it, but gah, they’re killing me! As for the rest of TV, we’ve had our first cancellation (Manhattan Love Story), but I have a feeling we’ll see a few more soon. For tonight, though, check out what Kyle & I are recommending.

csi1026smallThere was some possibly bad news for CSI fans this week, too… Its episode order number was cut back to 18 from 22. They say that although the ratings are down double digits from its Season 14 average, it’s maintaining the time-period’s year-ago average in viewers and adults 18-49. They’re trying to make room for the new CSI: Cyber and Battle Creek. But I dunno. I love the show. I hope this isn’t a prediction for the future of the series…

Regardless, CSI is my pick for tonight because I do love it, and tonight looks like it’ll be a fun episode. If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/12/14

As I write this up, I’m watching the latest episode of Z Nation. I gotta say, this show amuses me to no end. It truly cracks me up. DJ Qualls is hysterical, and 10K rocks. But enough about me… 😉 Read on to see what we’re recommending tonight.

csi1012smallOn last week’s CSI, a robbery turned homicide at a medical marijuana shop ended up being a kidnapping…but then it turned out the wife of the shop’s owner set it all up—including her own “kidnapping” and that of their kids’—in order to get the money. It was pretty sad, actually. But I love this show. I’m interested to see how long they’re going to drag out the Gig Harbor Killer story line. Now that Julie’s in Seattle looking into the background of the brothers, I’m sure it’ll be put on the back burner for the most part.

On tonight’s episode, “Bad Blood,” Sara and Greg are quarantined after responding to a crime scene that’s contaminated with a deadly pathogen. James Lesure (Men at Work, Mr. Sunshine, Las Vegas) & Lauren Stamile (Burn Notice, Grey’s Anatomy) guest star.

Check out this timely story line tonight on CBS at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing America’s Funniest Home Videos, Guy’s Grocery Games, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Halloween Wars, Catch a Contractor, & Cutthroat Kitchen.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/28/14

I’m so excited for a new week! So far, I’ve been LOVING the new season, and there are more shows that I can’t wait to see premiering this week, starting tonight, so check out what we’re recommending.

Jenny’s Choice #1

brooklyn99-928smallMy first pick is the season premiere of Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Last season ended on such a crazy, outrageous note… Jake was tasked to go undercover for the FBI, trying to catch a bunch of mob guys. But the episodes before that, he realized he had feelings for Santiago. Just before he left, he admitted them to her, but she was dating Teddy, so nothing happened. I’m excited and anxious for this season because their first one was such a huge hit and was so fantastic, but it’s now on Sunday night. Hopefully the second season will live up to the precedence set by season one and being on a new night surrounded by animated comedies won’t hurt it. I’ve seen the premiere, and I will say that it’s off to a great start. The same humor is there, the characters and jokes are just as funny, and I can see it being another fantastic comedy for this year.

On tonight’s episode, “Undercover,” Jake’s undercover FBI operation ends in a successful sting, until he learns one mobster has gotten away. As Jake enlists Charles’s help to track him down, Holt tests the squad’s patience with practice drills. Jenny Slate guest stars.

See how the squad welcomes Jake back to work tonight on FOX at 8:30/7:30c.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 5/7/14

Happy Wednesday! It’s Hump Day, which is good because it means we’re halfway through the week. It’s been a great week for TV so far, and tonight promises to continue that trend, so check out what we’re recommending.

Jenny’s Choice

csi57smallLast week was the spin-off preview on CSI, with guest star Patricia Arquette. She played an FBI agent in the Cyber Crime Division, on the chase of a sadist who bilked men out of money using the body, face, and voice from a woman who he found on social media. She was brought to Las Vegas when he hired a hitman to kill his latest mark’s wife. The case broke wide open when the woman who the sadist’s “Kitty” had been modeled after—Susan McDowell—showed up at the station. Special Agent Ryan set him up, pretending to be McDowell so he would confront her and threaten her. He sliced her arm, but in the end, he admitted enough that they were able to arrest him for everything. Unfortunately, the hitman got away. That was the only part that sucked.

Tonight is the season finale, and I think it’s going to be Paul Guilfoyle’s (Capt. Jim Brass) last episode. He’s been around for all fourteen season, so not having him there will definitely leave a hole.

On tonight’s episode, “Dead in His Tracks,” the CSIs investigate a present-day crime with ties to a mob heist that occurred 25 years ago. Meanwhile, Brass has a decision to make when his daughter attempts suicide. Treat Williams (Chicago Fire, Everwood) guest stars.

Find out what decision Brass makes and how the CSIs solve the crime tonight on CBS at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Criminal Minds, Law & Order: SVU, Modern Family, Hot in Cleveland, Chicago PD, & The Soul Man.
