If We Controlled Your Remote… 11/11/12

Ahh, the start of a new week. We’re *thisclose* to the Thanksgiving holiday in the US. Do you have your plans ironed out yet? We decided to invite my mom up to Kansas, so I started planning out the meal today. We’re doing a fresh turkey from the butcher this year for the first time instead of a frozen one from the grocery store. Exciting stuff! To help ease the holiday planning stress, there’s lots of great TV on, so check out what we are recommending tonight.

I loved last week’s premiere of The Next Iron Chef. I was unhappy to see Spike Mendelsohn in the bottom two, but I was very glad to see him advance against Tim Love…who I found to be kind of an ass at times. He was my least favorite competitor, so having him gone isn’t a hardship for me. The best part about the episode was seeing the reactions of the chefs when they were told what they would be cooking at the beginning. Poor Eric Greenspan got grasshoppers again, but this time, instead of them sending him home, they sent him straight to the top. That was fun. 🙂 I’m looking forward to seeing what the chefs have to go through on tonight’s episode!

On tonight’s episode, “Innovation,” the chefs create an innovative take on international classics.

See what the chefs dish up tonight on Food Network 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of The Next Iron Chef @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Firefly 10th Anniversary: Browncoats Unite, America’s Funniest Home Videos, Cupcake Wars, The Amazing Race, Iron Chef America, Breaking Magic, & The Mentalist.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 5/20/12

It’s the start of a new week and really…it’s SO much slower this week than we’ve had in awhile. You’ll notice as we go through the week that not everyone is posting every day, and that’s simply because there isn’t always something we all want to watch/recommend on! Megan is getting a break tonight, but she’ll be back tomorrow. There are still a few things on, though, so check out our recs!

Last week’s premiere of Food Network Star was so different and so cool. I loved having the three teams of contestants each coached/mentored by a different master chef/personality. I liked so many of the contestants that I can’t name which team I’m rooting for yet. It’s a close race so far! This is a very different way to do the show, and so far, I think it’s working well. I’m hoping that continues tonight with the second episode.

On tonight’s episode, “NYC on the Go,” after the finalists are divided into three separate teams, they are given tours of various New York City neighborhoods, where they learn about the local landmarks and food. The contestants prepare a dish inspired by their New York district.

Don’t miss the 90-minute new episode tonight on Food Network at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Food Network Star @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’m also going to be watching/DVRing Cupcake Wars, Jesse Stone: Benefit of the Doubt, & the series premiere of Mystery Diners on Food Network.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 11/27/11

Here we are at the start of another week, and every day brings us closer to Christmas. I have very little shopping done, and I’m starting to feel the pressure—what about you? This week is slower than the usual week, but there is still plenty on tonight to watch while relaxing.

Week after week, the contestants on The Amazing Race are leaving everything they have on the playing field. Last week’s episode was a little intense when the teams all had to pose in speedos. Wow, there was so much I DID NOT need to know about these racers. I found it amusing how seriously the older team was taking it. The episode ended with us finding out this leg of the race was still going on, so at the moment, there we no eliminations. The race continues tonight, and we’ll see how all the contestants deal with finding out they’re still racing.

In the next episode, the contestants take a thrilling test drive and try to make traditional Belgian waffles.

To see if your team survives, tune in to CBS at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of The Amazing Race @ Clicker.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 5/22/11

It’s a slower week than last week for television, but there are still a few great shows on to watch. I can’t wait for the summer season to begin, with new seasons of shows like True Blood or Rookie Blue on their way, but for now, we need to wrap up this season of regular programming.

I don’t usually suggest one of the animated comedies that air on FOX, but tonight, I’m going to suggest you watch the seaon finale of Family Guy. I don’t watch it every week, but I have been known to enjoy a giggle or two, especially when Stewie is plotting world domination. 🙂

On tonight’s season finale, it’s part six of the Star Wars triology. Luke (Chris) must negotiate for the life of Han Solo (Peter) with Jabba the Hut (Joe), who has the whip hand, and a henchman named Rancor (Rush Limbaughg).

Tune in to FOX at 9/8c to see this comedic spoof come to it’s end. Learn where to find episodes online of Family Guy @ Clicker.
