If We Controlled Your Remote… 7/3/12

Summer’s in full swing. My kid is out of the house most days and nights right now, spending the night with a friend across the street, playing Xbox over at his house during the day. Kinda start to miss him after a while! 😉 The heat’s still a problem, but at least my husband has Wednesday off work so we can play cards, catch up on TV, and spend some time together as a family. We’ll just do it all inside! (Except when the hubby goes out to grill hamburgers and sausage for dinner. More power to him outside in the almost hundred degree heat! 😉 ) Now, let’s see what we think you should be watching tonight in the comfort of your AC. 😉

Last week’s Rizzoli & Isles was kind of heartbreaking and really disturbing. I love that they brought up the fact that stuff like domestic abuse was covered up by the police when the abuser was a police officer. You really had to feel for the cop’s son, who had been locked up in a mental institution because his father hadn’t wanted him to spill the beans that he’d murdered his wife. And then, when he shot his son and said he had to do it… I wanted to kick my TV. And then you have to hand it to Maura & Angela. Maura may not known for sure that Angela would do something about it, but she had to have had SOME idea. And Angela…setting Jane & Casey up to meet? I was so glad to see that first step. My heart broke for Jane and Casey both as he left the bar and she watched him go, crying.

I really love this show for a variety of reasons, but the friendship between Jane & Maura, the relationship between Jane & her family…I’m not sure there’s anything else like it on TV, especially with 2 female leads. And I’m really excited about tonight’s episode because we start to learn more about Maura’s birth mother. Excellent.

On tonight’s episode, “Throwing Down the Gauntlet,” Jane looks for a way for Maura to meet her biological mother, Dr. Hope Davis (guest star Sharon Lawrence). Angela gets involved in a political campaign. And a nun from Jane and Frankie Jr.’s past returns. Matthew Del Negro and Jenny O’Hara also guest star.

Check it out tonight on TNT at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Rizzoli & Isles @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/DVRing Hell’s Kitchen, MasterChef, America’s Got Talent, HGTV Design Star, Chopped, Franklin & Bash, & Retired at 35.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 6/12/12

Yesterday was kind of a long day for me… Sunday night, my 14yo decided he wanted to try staying up all night. Since I knew I’d be up anyway (darn flipped schedule!), I figured why not. I assumed he’d last until maybe 2:00 and then crash. No…he made it all the way to 4:20 before finally conking out on the couch. LOL It was too funny. 🙂 But that meant he slept until 11:00, and since I didn’t fall asleep until 9:30 or 10:00, I didn’t get much sleep yesterday either. Ah well. It was worth it. 🙂 I hope your Monday was great and that your Tuesday is just as good or better…and to help that, there’s some great TV on. See what we think you should be watching!

Last week’s premiere of Rizzoli & Isles was a fantastic continuation of last season’s finale. Gabriel Dean is gone (boo! although that opens the way for the cutie Army guy, who we’re going to see again!), Maura’s father is now locked up and she has some more info on her biological mother…and while things still aren’t right between them, Jane and Maura patched things up a little after the whole shooting. We got to see them take down a dirty cop, which was great, but my favorite part of the episode absolutely had to be Frost. He has grown so much since the first episode of the series, when he was still so green that he was throwing up in the bushes. LOL He’s cracking jokes, making comments, and so much of it just made me laugh. I can’t wait to see how he continues to grow and make me giggle.

On tonight’s episode, “Dirty Little Secret,” tensions continue to mount between Jane and Maura, causing those close to them to be caught in the middle. But they must put aside their differences when they investigate the case of a college student who died in a tunnel. Meanwhile, Frankie Sr. (guest star Chazz Palminteri) returns with news that upsets Angela. Colin Egglesfield also guest-stars.

Don’t miss it tonight on TNT at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Rizzoli & Isles @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’m also going to be watching/DVRing America’s Got Talent, Hell’s Kitchen, MasterChef, HGTV Design Star, Chopped, Franklin & Bash & (possibly, if the schedule is right…) American Ninja Warrior.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 8/3/11

It’s kind of a crazy day today, because my kiddo is back to school in two weeks, so he’s taking the last bit of time he can to relax and enjoy the summer. Today, he’s at Oceans of Fun, hopefully enjoying the water WITHOUT getting sunburned! Also, I’m still reeling over how awful I thought last night’s premiere of Take the Money and Run was. I’m not sure I’ve ever disliked a show as much as I did that one. Luckily, tonight will be much better for me. I hope you enjoy all the great new TV tonight, too. What do we think you should watch? Check it out below!

Royal Pains has been great this season, what with the birth of Boris and Marissa’s baby boy, Paige’s mystery illness (or something that she’s tense about & hiding from Evan!), Hank & Evan’s father going to prison and subsequent release and them meeting their grandfather, Jill possibly leaving the Hamptons (and yet…she’s still here…), and Divya’s break up with Raj and disownment by her parents when she refuses to let them set her up with a new man for an arranged marriage. All of that is going on in addition to the great medical cases each week, and this week looks to be no different.

Hank attempts to determine a diagnosis for Libby’s (Tucker’s girlfriend…) mother, who he discovers has a wound that is unable to heal. Paige agrees to Evan’s marriage proposal, but only under the condition that he obtains a blessing from her father. Julie Benz (No Ordinary Family, Dexter) guest stars.

Check it out on the USA Network at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Royal Pains @ Clicker.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 7/27/11

Raise your hand if you’ve ever had a root canal. *waits patiently* By the time most of you read this, I’ll have had my first one ever done. So not looking forward to it, but my tooth and jaw are starting to hurt, so I guess I’m ready for it to be done! Hopefully I won’t be in much pain. I’ve heard from most people that isn’t as bad as you’d think, and it’s a lot better now than it used to be, so… I should be ok. Luckily, there’s lots of great stuff on tonight to make me feel better! Let’s see what that is…

Last week on Royal Pains, we met Even and Hank’s grandfather, played by guest star Ed Asner. He’s a curmudginely old bastard, but I really enjoyed him, and I’m looking forward to seeing him back tonight so we can learn a little bit more about him and their family. We learned Eddie and his father are on the outs just as much—if not more—than Eddie and Hank were when Eddie came back into their lives. Also last week, Evan admitted to Hank that he was planning to propose to Paige. Hank tried to tell him to slow down, because he knows Paige is keeping some sort of major secret from Evan. Will Evan listen? Or will Paige finally come clean? I dunno, but I hope she does soon!

Tonight, on “A Man Called Grandpa,” in an attempt to help his father’s chances of being paroled, Evan decides to spend time with his grandfather. While spending the day at the horse races, Evan discovers the truth behind his grandfather’s absence from his life.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 7/6/11

It’s Wednesday, and I’m excited, because I have a conference call with the three stars from Syfy’s Warehouse 13 about the upcoming season. Plus, there are some great new episodes tonight so that’s just one more reason to be happy it’s Wednesday! Let’s see what we all think you should watch tonight…

One of the reasons I’m looking forward so much to TV tonight is the new episode of Royal Pains. I was thrilled with the premiere last week, although not with some of the events that happened. Jill showed up, only to tell Hank she was leaving again (for good?) and then have sex before going. Will she be back? I hope so…It won’t really be the same without her. Something is up with Paige, although we don’t know what yet. And Divya finally had it out with her parents when they tried to set up her again with another arranged marriage. For now, she’s staying with Hank and Evan in Boris’ estate. Oh, yeah, and Boris apologized to Hank and invited them to live in his guest house again. Hank was great in standing up for himself, and told Boris they would pay rent now, etc. Overall, it was a great premiere, so I’m excited to see what happens this week.

Tonight, Hank is forced to treat an old rival after the man is injured while playing with Hank in a charity football tournament. Divya attemps to help a gardener work through the side effects of his medication while she deals with her own past.
