If We Controlled Your Remote… 11/9/12

Another week has come to an end, and to celebrate, we should all grab a glass of…(well, whatever you like to toast with)…and toast the weekend. Weekends are full of long, school-less days, pancakes, and of course, it all kicks off tonight with some excellent television. Let’s check it out.

Megan’s Choice

Blue Bloods is one of those crime shows that strives to be so much more and succeeds with flying colors. The money issues that Danny and his family are having are very realistic as to what’s going on in the world today—although, you won’t find as many hard-working officers like the Regan boys. They deserve to make more without moonlighting like Danny was.

On tonight’s episode, “Nightmares,” when a man is stabbed by an attacker dressed as the spirit of death, Danny investigates a voodoo community. Garrett tells Frank about a dark secret; Nicky and Erin take Jack and Sean trick-or-treating.

See how freaky it can get tonight on CBS at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Blue Bloods @ Clicker.

I’ll also be wathing/DVRing CSI: NY, Kitchen Nightmares, Grimm, and Malibu Country.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 11/2/12

It’s been a long week here at my house. Our oldest kitty (he was born in August 1996, the same month my husband & I got married, and we adopted him when he was a month old) had gotten to the point where he wasn’t eating or drinking beyond a few laps of water or milk each day, and his hind quarters wasn’t working. He couldn’t walk on his back legs at all. He wasn’t in pain, so we were hoping to let him die peacefully at home, but Wednesday afternoon, we made the decision that rather than let him starve or dehydrate himself to death, we would take him in to the vet on Thursday morning and have him put to sleep. It was literally the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make, and my heart is still broken. That said, there is some great TV on tonight to help distract me and entertain you, so check out our recommendations for what to watch tonight.

I was going to pick Nikita again this week because I am loving the new season, but then I remembered that tonight is the season premiere of Last Man Standing. I know, I know. I can hear Kyle’s groan from here. But I really enjoyed the show last year. I’m not sure quite what to think because they replaced Alexandra Krosney, who played teen mom Kristin, with Amanda Fuller. I liked Alexandra in the role. I’m not sure why they recast her…but I do hope I like Amanda just as much, if not more. Maybe it’s because they are aging Kristin’s son, Boyd, to five years old, so they needed to age her a little, as well? Regardless, I enjoy the show a lot, so I’m sure I’ll be fine with the recasting. They recast Ryan, Boyd’s father, as well—from Nick Jonas to Jordan Masterson. Last season, Jonas was in one episode, while Masterson will be in multiple episodes.

On tonight’s episode, “Voting,” Mike does all he can to persuade first-time voter Mandy to vote for Governor Romney in the upcoming presidential election. But when he lobbies her heavily, he finds himself going up against her older sister, Kristin, and Boyd’s father, Ryan, who are just as enthusiastic for President Obama and disagree with Mike’s trying to influence Mandy. While they all battle for Mandy’s vote and soul, Vanessa remains neutral in the interest of family harmony.

See if season two is as funny as season one was tonight on ABC at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of Last Man Standing @ Clicker.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/26/12

You know last Friday, I mentioned that it was getting colder? NOTHING like it is now. What a difference a week makes. Things here have been up and down all week, so I’m looking forward to having some downtime to just relax and chill out while I watch some great TV—and we’re prepared to tell you what we think you should watch, so check out our recommendations for the night. 😉

I was going to do Nikita again (because how freakin adorable was Michael when he shouted that he was going back to get her engagement ring, and then the proposal and Nikita saying what she did? LOVED it. 😀 ), but then I realized the backdoor pilot of the new Mockingbird Lane is airing tonight. I LOVE this idea. The Munsters brought to life again by the mind behind the brilliant show Pushing Daisies and starring Jerry O’Connell (who I love)? Sign me up. Mockingbird Lane is a new reimagined version of the classic 1960s comedy The Munsters, now as a visually spectacular one-hour drama with a darker edge and tone. The cast includes Jerry O’Connell (The Defenders) as Herman Munster, Portia de Rossi (Arrested Development) as his wife Lily, Eddie Izzard (United States of Tara, The Riches) as Grandpa, Mason Cook (Spy Kids: All the Time in the World in 4D) as Eddie, and Charity Wakefield (The Raven) as Marilyn.

I have no idea when the show will truly premiere, but I hope the pilot lives up to my expectations. Brian Fuller was a genius with Pushing Daisies, so I am truly hoping he brings that magic to this new show.

On tonight’s episode, “Pilot,” sweet little Eddie Munster is a normal kid about to enter the horrors of puberty. Truth is, he’s about to discover that for him becoming a teenager means growing hair in truly unexpected places—as in all over his body—every time the moon is full! Eddie’s got it pretty good, though. His loving, supportive, run-of-the-mill family includes his mom Lily, the daughter of Dracula; his dad Herman, who brings new meaning to “Frankenstein”; and Grandpa, who would give Dracula a run for his money if he weren’t actually Dracula! Of course, then there’s creepy cousin Marilyn, who’s really the odd one because she’s so completely normal.

Don’t miss it tonight on NBC at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of Mockingbird Lane @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/recording Nikita, Fringe, CSI: NY, Haven, Grimm, Blue Bloods, & Hunted.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/12/12

This will be short and sweet because neither Megan nor I are feeling well. So I’m writing up the top because I didn’t know I wasn’t going to do my part of it until just now, but I just don’t have the energy. You know what we’ll both be watching, though. 😉 So check out what Kyle & JJ recommend. – Jenny

Tonight, another explosive season of Strike Back comes to an end. Last week, Section 20 tried to set up a roadblock to stop the truck containing the nuclear bomb. However, the driver rammed right through, partially detonating the bomb in the process, forcing evacuation of the village. After Scott and Stonebrige were confirmed as being radiation-free, they got back to work, heading to Johannesburg. Scott, Stonebridge, and the local police organized a meeting between a dirty lawyer and Knox, but at the last minute Scott realized it was a trap and just managed to escape as the building exploded. Meanwhile, Stonebridge chased down the man who shot his wife, but the police showed up before he could get his revenge. At the end of the episode, Knox said that change was only going to happen in Africa if he let the bombs go off.

So tonight should be another exciting season finale! Will Scott and Stonebridge be able to stop Knox before he sets off the nuclear bombs? I think we can all agree the answer is Yes, but I’m excited to see how they do it! I’m happy Cinemax has already renewed the series for a third season, as it should ease the upcoming adrenaline withdrawal!

In tonight’s season finale, Scott asks for Bryant’s help in stopping Knox; a vengeful Stonebridge has trouble focusing on the mission at hand; and Section 20 gets much-needed assistance from South African police to track down Knox and his nuclear arsenal.

Note: There will be a marathon of the entire second season on the MoreMax channel starting at 2:30pm ET, leading up to tonight’s season finale on Cinemax.

Don’t miss what is sure to be a fantastic season finale on Cinemax at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Strike Back @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/recording Fringe, Haven, Grimm, and Primetime: What Would You Do?.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/5/12

Yay for being Friday! I am so glad it’s nearly the weekend. It’s been a great week for TV, but my DVR is full. I need the weekend to catch up! LOL We also have plans to spend some time together as a family playing cards and stuff this weekend, so it’s just another reason I’m glad it’s Friday. You? 🙂 Now, see what we think you should be watching to ease you into the weekend. 😀

Originally my pick was going to be Blue Bloods (it looks like it’ll be a great episode, as always), but then I finally watched the premiere of Made in Jersey yesterday, and I LOVED it. I love that Martina is so smart about figuring out clues and helped to clear the girl accused of murder on last week’s episode. The guest cast is great, too. I love the people at her firm (I hope it doesn’t end up like Franklin & Bash, where I started to dislike their coworkers so much, I stopped watching…) and her family. I also hope the writers make it like Blue Bloods, where half of the fun of the show is the cases, but the other half is the family interaction. I loved that part of the premiere, so I’m hopeful it will continue.

On tonight’s episode, “Cacti,” while going through “jail mail,” Martina finds a letter from a client who was institutionalized after pleading insanity for manslaughter, and is now lucid and claims innocence. Meanwhile, Bonnie introduces her new boyfriend to the family. Enver Gjokaj (Dollhouse) guest stars as Tommy Ligand, Martina’s ex-boyfriend.

See if you fall in love with the show like I did tonight on CBS 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Made in Jersey @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/DVRing CSI: NY, Grimm, Fringe, Blue Bloods, & Haven.
